I think everyone is looking forward to some game action by now. Wednesday is a seven-inning intra-squad game, and Friday a nine-inning exhibition game against the University of South Florida. On Saturday the real Grapefruit League games begin.
Otherwise, pretty quiet clubhouse -- people talking Oscars and such. More live batting practice coming up.

Nudge sucks ! ! Of course you all know that.
Interesting article from the archives (took a long time to download so I just went into encyclopedia.com and searched for "Johan Santana"...
I had no idea Santana is the only "Johan" to play in a MLB game since 1900. I also didn't realize he was a reliever turned starter and didn't start until July 11th of 2003.
http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1G1-123329099.html?Q=johan%20santana
"When Santana returned to the Twins in 2002, he was a staple in the bullpen on a team that went to the American League Championship Series.
It took two injuries before the Twins moved Santana from the bullpen to the rotation. After Eric Milton got hurt in spring training, the Twins signed Kenny Rogers. Then, after Joe Mays went down, the Twins made Santana a starter on July 11, 2003."
Hey, Sey Hey,
I told myself I would never reply to someone like you who has one minute ridiculous purpose on this blog, but you may want to check your facts - Wang started 30 games last year and pitched 199 innings. What does your pea brain calculate that average innings per start to be??? I'm fairly certain - albeit not 100 percent positive, that even you could figure that to be very near 6 and 2/3 per start. And yes, 6 innings plus 2 of 3 outs does qualify for pitching into the seventh.
Have you ever stated who your favorite team is, so we can have intelligent, lucid, well thought out debates with you? Or do you completely lack a set of ba!!s and are too afraid to contribute anything but nonsense here? Based on your Moniker I would think Mets or Giants. Goodness, I hope, for your sake that's not the case.
bosstrots: That is an intelligent, lucid, well thought out objection to Say Hey....Judge Chamberlain Haller would be proud of you!
Chip or anyone else who might know: I understand the correct pronunciation of Melancon's name is Mel-Ahn-Son, much like the former Islander goalie, Roland Melanson, is that right?
That is correct, Jim.
I caught the end of the Oscars last night and the memorial segment reminded me of how many people are now rarely heard from or entirely missing from this blog who were posting regularly during last ST: people like Ruse, Lucy, Roy, LathamJoe, Chip, PaulTM, Zander, Rick, etc...
If you're lurking, just to say -- you're missed, and it was a better blog when you were contributing regularly ...
Good call on Rollie the goalie, Jim. You could probably tell by my moniker that I am an Isles fan.
Even better call on the "My Cousin Vinnie" reference. That said, after I wrote that to Say Hey, I went back and noticed that DRU also responded, but Sey Hey never came back with anything. I guess it was such a losing cause for "the yute" that he couldn't come up with anything - no matter how silly and insignificant - to say.
Boss-
I'm a huge Islanders fan myself and they have really been testing my "fanhood" these past several years.
My Cousin Vinny never gets old either....I watch it whenever I'm flipping through channels and it is on.
