In-game update

The Yankees are trailing 2-1 in the top of the eighth inning. Melky Cabrera hit a solo home run for the Yankees. Phil Hughes pitched innings and allowed two runs, one earned. He gave up three hits and one walk and struck out four.
For those asking about Derek Jeter and if he's hurt, i don't know. We have not gotten any updates. He did leave the game after two at-bats, while the other regulars stayed in for three at-bats, but I am not sure if there is an injury involved.

Tampa Bay and Toronto have a lot of talent and a lot of good arms.

Toronto has the best rotation ...

AJ
Halladay
Marcum
McGowan
(Janssen, Litsch or whomever)

No one is talking about Tampa and Toronto but they will be tough ... BJ Ryan may come back. Eckstein is our missing piece but Cashman was too foolish to bring him in, or there was no room at the inn per se.

We need a leadoff hitter, more LHP's, a CF ... I thought Andy P and Menky were fine at 1B.

Eckstein would have been depth for a Jeter injury. He has no range at SS. That's why I wanted him in CF, akin to the move Hall of Famer Robin Yount made. For the good of the team Jeter should move, and let A Rod play shortstop.

Do we really want to win? Why can't we go out and get Kevin Gregg or someone like Hunter Pence? (Wrong color?)

Anyway ... Marquez, White, Brackman, Bruney ... these are all really good arms. Cashman will pony up a few kids to plug a hole. But for all the salaries and equity value (1.2 Billion) Cashman should have the best team and we don't.

He should have resigned long ago with all the mistakes. Some granted we all would have made: Brown, Giambi, Contrerras.

With Lilly, Josh Hamilton, Eckstein, Ludwick and Troy Percival we could have gone to the World Series.

Instead we have Igawa, Melky, Be-a-mit, Godzilla on a cane and Farnsworth.

It's really that simple.

Janssen is out for the year . I believe Scott Rolen is hurt once again.Burnett is injury prone.Marcum and McGowan have yet to prove much of anything.Last I heard B.J.Ryan is out to mid May and is still a huge question mark.Accardo as closer ?? Catcher?
Hill and Rios will emerge as the Jays 2 best players. We'll see if Vernon Wells can rebound with a solid year in 08.
