Postgame updates

Postgame updates:

Joba said he wasn't tired in the ninth, that he just left a couple pitches up.
Joe Girardi said there will likely be move(s) before Friday's game. I'd have to guess Brian Bruney is going on the DL, given that he could barely walk today. He's seeing a foot specialist in New York Friday.
Phil Hughes was disappointed not to be able to continue pitching, given that that was the best he'd felt in a while on the mound.
Kyle Farnsworth had been going to come out to pitch the eighth, but he felt something in his right elbow on his final pitch. He slipped on that pitch and said the extra pressure that put on his arm likely caused the pain. He expects to be able to pitch again soon, perhaps as early as Friday night.

I just don't think Joba has been as sharp as he was before his family leave. Perhaps his mind is elsewhere? That would make sense to me.

Yeah, i actually said that to my friend the other day...albeit 1/4 jokingly...but still, if there was ever an asterix to go near anything, i think that it should go next to Joba's "L" today....Ohlendorf lost this game, or if you want to go farther Girardi did by not putting Hughes back in....Hughes has pitched terribly all year and his first good game he gets yankes after pitching two innings because of the rain delay.....IMO i would have asked how he felt and sent him out there to see what he had before i would have pulled him....just like i would have walked Manny, but w/e

Not that Joba didnt in fact give up the winning run, but still

Not a lot of post game chatter
Did Ant kill this thread too?

I thought I read that Munson's locker was not going to be moved to the new stadium? I think I may know it's new destination, but can't really comment at this time. Will give you all the news that I have on Sunday.

This is on yahoo medical reports:

RHP Carl Pavano (Tommy John surgery in June 2007) opened the season on the 60-day disabled list. He could pitch in the majors by July.

Is it true he may be available in july or is that total bs?

Yes, statistically speaking, Joba was bound to lose ... but did he throw while in Nebraska visiting his father, or where ever his dad was in the hospital?

And what about his mental state?

How sharp was he?

He must be very upset.

In the end, it is just baseball.

A lot has changed for me in how I view the game over the past year or so ... Manny and his I pod in the outfield, Melky and Cano jumping around like children with ants in their pants ... yes in a better day in America, we would not tolerate this. Things used to be done the right way.

Americans used to want to be the best.

Then that decayed to being mediocre.

Now it is "How low can we go?"

But are Melky and Manny and Cano throwing the bat at people's heads ... like Lilly and Clemens and Farnsworth.

No ...

So why get all upset at the Third World antics?

We have to really, really, really lower our cultural standards to accomodate "The New America" and "The New Yankees" but that doesn't mean there won't be bright spots.

Just the fact that Joba was caring for his father shows there is still good in the Yanks. After the off season of Clemens, Canseco, Mel Hall, McNamee, Leyritz and the rest of the never ending evil, it is good to see the kid hanging tough and caring for a parent.

This alone makes the Yankees worth rooting for.

And in the end, the only "fans" not upset by the off field behavior are those who share that "value" system.

Good artiicle on Pavano here.

There goes Ant killing another thread......time for a new one....

On to this weekends match up against those damn Indians.....

Tonight - LHP Andy Pettitte vs. RHP Paul Byrd

Sat - RHP Ian Kennedy vs. LHP Jeremy Sowers

Sunday - RHP Chien-Ming Wang vs. LHP C.C. Sabathia

Monday - RHP Mike Mussina vs. LHP Aaron Laffey

Fellow Fans – a bit of shameless promotion. I’ve just had a baseball short story published and would like to share it with anyone who might be interested.

It’s been published in the spring issue (#66) of the baseball literary magazine called Spitball. The story is called “The Boy from the Bronx.”

Spitball has been around for a while now and has published, among other noted baseball writers and poets, W.P. Kinsella (who wrote “Field of Dreams.) So it’s a nice little magazine and worth supporting.

If you’re interested in getting a copy, you can write:

Enclose a cheque for $6.00 with your name and address and request the spring 2008 issue (#66.) I hope that you like the story!

Howdyho,

Think Yanks should put Bruney on the DL and bring up Edwar and Patterson for the pen, since the arms are falling off right about now. Joba was due to take a loss but I do not understand why Molina and Joba went away from the fastball. Never established inside and Crede felt comfortable reaching out and slapping the slider. Gotta knock 'em off the plate, especiallearly in the count. Oh well, on to Cleveland.

Somebody tell Robby Cano it is time to wake up. This guy is as sleepy as they come.

Yanks61

I am sending my $6.00 today!

Hey McCarthy,

Stop with the Ant thread obsession. If you can't think of anything new to say or anything original that hasn't been repeated five hundred times by the other brainless sheep on here, then don't post.

Get it out of your system now so we don't have to hear you repeating the same stupid line over and over. Write one thousand times......

There goes Ant killing another thread......time for a new one....

Then maybe you'll be as sick of writing it as I am of reading it.

Delancy -

I really care what you have to say. Seriously.....

Who are you, the blog mediator? Your about as cool as Kevin Youkalis.

Delancy must be Ant's house boy and is suffering from Stockholm Syndrome because nobody in his right mind would defend Ant's racist comments regarding Cabrera and Cano.

Thanks Sully. Ihope you enjoy it!

You mean "Puke"ilis. Ant-hole sucks and everyone in here knows this.

Sully - how are ya? See your boys are temporarily in 1st place. We are comin' after them.

McCarthy,

Are you kidding me or what. You just finished busting on Ant for the umpteenth time as if YOU are the blog mediator.....then have the unusual temerity to ask me if I am the blog mediator. Next time you question what someone else is doing have the smarts to be sure its not something you do like 10 times a day yourself. Theres a word for that...hipocrite!

Oh yeah. Cheeeeeese. Yeah, didn't we lock you in a dumpster one time?

ESPN reporting that Bruney has a torn ligament in his foot that will require surgery - he's obviously out for a while.

Most likely call up will be Abaladejo

Thanks Chip.

forget a while - Bruney's season is over

Funny how a bunch of punks like to gather in a circle and pick on one defenseless guy. Just like the playground bullies...they all join in and follow the lead of the biggest coward in the group. Don't really like it though when someone comes and helps that kid and suddenly you have a fight on your hands and the amazing thing was you brought it upon your sad selves.

Grow up and leave Ant alone. If you can't act like adults you'll be treated like children...period.

Far be it for me to tell people what they should or shouldn't talk about on this site. However we can either write about each other or we can discuss the fact that 1 of the Yankees 4 reliable relief pitchers (Joba, Ohlendorf, Mo being the others) has just been lost for the season according to ESPN.

The injury to Bruney makes it very difficult for the Yankees to consider moving Joba into the rotation. The team has internal options (Albaladejo, Patterson, Veras, Ramirez) but how about external options. With Carlos Delgado really struggling for the Mets do you think the Yankees could buy low on Aaron Heilman (who just screams of a guy who needs a change of scenary) with Shelley Duncan?

Ant is anything but defenseless. He's not some blind little old lady trying to cross the street.

He brings this stuff onto himself with his idiotic racist remarks and political/religious rants....all of which is extremely inappropriate in this forum. Everyone has asked him many time to please stop and he continues to do it.

So go wash Ant's car you houseboy and rub his back and feet for good measure. Nobody feels the least bit sorry for you or your master.

Chip,

Shelly Duncan is a minor leaguer. How does that help the Mets. He couldn't even earn a spot at first on the most first based challanged team in baseball. At least offer the Mets something they can use.

Anonyidiot,

Your opinion counts for squat. You're too much of a coward to even identify yourself. You must be the head bully on the Ant bashing playground. Grow some stones already. Since your not man enough to even come into the open instead of hiding in the anoymous weeds I'll assume your either a girl or a little boy. Either way you'll be treated as the child you act like.

When you learn to treat the others on this site with differing opinions with some sense of respect then you will recieve the same. Till then play with your toys or yourself for that matter. Either way leave the adults alone. Its bedtime for you.

You are just as "anonymous" as I am since Delancy isn't your real name. Hypocrite.

Maybe people will take you seriously if you start discussing baseball and the Yankees instead of being some self-promoted moderator.

Nobody gives a hoot what you say or what you think. Give Ant another back rub and wash his car.

Nudge - come on, we both know Duncan was sent down because he has options. And I'm sure he'll be back up with the club as soon as tomorrow. I'm certainly not calling Duncan an All-Star, but he's capable of hitting for power, his defense at first is not any worse than that of Delgado - and I'm not expecting the Mets to send back an All-Star.

Heilman is a reluctant relief pitcher who is struggling right now and plans to market himself as a starter when he hits free agency this winter.

No Viper. My name IS Delancy and there aren't 50 Delancy's around everyday like there are anonymous chickens. All you guys that want to hide behind your mask to be nasty to another contributor because you dont like what they say. Tough!

Only Babies get what they want all the time. Thats why they cry!

I'm not Viper douchebag. I think Ant Colony is calling you. He needs a sponge bath.
