A-Rod, Kennedy updates

Alex Rodriguez is hopeful he will be able to return to the Yankees lineup Wednesday at Tampa Bay. That’s the prognosis after the reigning MVP went through his first baseball workout in two weeks before last night’s game against the Indians.
Rodriguez, who has been on the disabled list since April 30 with a strained right quadriceps, stretched, jogged, sprinted, fielded and hit during batting practice at Yankee Stadium. He seemed so happy to be on the field that at times he appeared to be prancing like a puppy freed from a locked room.
“I hope so, Wednesday,” Rodriguez said. “I think we’re on schedule. That was the goal all along.”

Kei Igawa, who makes his season debut Friday, will get at least two starts with the big club, manager Joe Girardi said. Girardi also said Ian Kennedy will make at least one more start at Triple-A Scranton / Wilkes-Barre. Kennedy threw 7 1/3 scoreless innings on Tuesday for Scranton.
“Obviously, it’s a big step in the right direction,” Girardi said. “I love having the competition for the spots . . . The other guys are getting their opportunities. There’s no timetable.”

Well my Anonymous (as always) friend,

Last year I said we should get Ankiel when he was still in the minors. He came up, hit 3 HR's in one game, showed power and also this year has 5 HR's already and is making nice plays in CF.

I said get Colby Rasmus (star of TEAM USA, 5th best Minor League prospect). He'll be a star in MLB barring injury.

I said get Sowers because he was hurt and vanished for a while.

I saw Cliff Lee in passing. I can't say Cleveland would offer him in a trade, you are right on that one.

I am just suggesting talented players we might try to trade for.

Did you ever actually play the game Anonymous?

And why are you so rude? You can hide behind the Internet because you know damned well you wouldn't dare speak so rudely to someone face to face.

Guys like you are usually very cowardly in that respect.

But again, you are right, I did not know if Cleveland would trade Lee. I just called him out six months ago as one of the best pitchers, which he is.

Period.

Which players did you predict would do well, far in advance, as I did with Ankiel?

I am all ears ...

Get a clue rANT, Ankiel is hitting .280. You even said it...dynasty is over. Torre era is over. Long ball strategy is proving worthless. Why would we want Ankiel? Yanks have enough guys hitting .280 (or worse) and can provide power from time to time. You know, Ankiel isn't the only player to hit 3 HR's in one game. Based on your plan, Yanks need to get 1B Joey Votta becasue "he hit 3 HR's in one game!". Ankiel is an average player in Major League Baseball, just like certain yankee outfielders who have the same, if not better, numbers than he does (see: Abreu, Matsui, Damon). Give it up fool!

I was watching a Cards-Rockies game the other night and Ankiel threw out Willy Tavares, who was trying to go from first to third on a single, and the throw was a rope that never touched the ground from deep CF to Troy Glaus' mitt. Tavares just got up and stared at Ankiel in disbelief.

Having said that, the Yanks were never interested in Ankiel because until late last season he was a bust of a pitcher trying to make it as an OF, nobody knew he would be anything other than terrible so right now that he is ordinary it seems awesome, but if he didn't have his history, he'd be just another OF w/ a good arm.
