Anyone who likes to be entertained has got to love quotes from Jason Giambi. He steers clear of the typical cookie-cutter stuff. Here's a sampling from him today. The Yankees, by the way, are giving out fake mustaches, or as they call them, "Jason Giambi replica mustaches," to the first 20,000 fans to arrive at tomorrow's 1:05 p.m. game against the Rays. This is part of the team's initiative to "Support the 'Stache" and get Giambi onto the All-Star team.
Giambi said he hadn't followed the initiative too closely: "I had the day off yesterday, and I enjoyed every minute of it."
One of his competitors among the five is Evan Longoria of the Rays. Both went to Long Beach State. I didn't know their unofficial nickname is the "Dirtbags," so when Giambi was told Longoria had said it was cool to be goign against another dirtbag, I was confused. Giambi said: "I'll take that as a compliment." He then talked a little about Longoria and Long Beach State.
He'd love to be picked for the All-Star Game, which he said is: "kind of the ultimate compliment."
As for his mustaches gaining popularity, he said: "The Big G, a fashion icon."
He'd love to participate in the home run derby if asked. Not worried about it messing up his swing because: "That's kind of all I do is try to hit the ball into the seats."
Matsui swung 45 times off a tee, and said: "I felt pretty good. No pain. I hope to keep moving in a positive direction."

Can't wait to see how this comes back to haunt the loveable furballs from the fart on the lake.
