I've got a slew of injury updates for you:
*Hideki Matsui was taking swings off a tee in the batting cage this afternoon. The Yankees are going to get a statement from him about how things arre going, which I don't have yet.
*Johnny Damon (left shoulder) went to Tampa to begin rehabbing. Joe Girardi said: "The hope is that sometime next week, he can start swinging a bat."
*Phil Hughes is still not throwing off a mound, but Girardi believes he'll be pitching by the start of September.
*Carl Pavano is further ahead than Hughes, but Girardi isn't ready to count on Pavano pitching for the Yankees this year. Pavano threw two innings worth of batting practice today, 15 pitches apiece, fastballs and changeups only. He'll do the same on the 11th. On the 15th, he'll throw 45 pitches in BP, using all his pitches. Said Girardi: "I don't have any expectations, but you never know."
*Brian Bruney (torn Lisfranc ligament) will pitch for Double-A Trenton Saturday.
*The pitching rotation for the remainder of games up to the All-Star break is as follows:
Wednesday vs. Rays: Ponson
Thursday at Pittsburgh: Mussina
Friday at Toronto: Chamberlain
Saturday at Toronto: Rasner
Sunday at Toronto: Pettitte

Carl Pavano.
Hahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahahhaha.
I thought Bruney was done for the year. What a nice surprise.
I sure hope Hughes is getting his injuries out of the way now. I know he's still a kid but dude seems soft.
