Lineup and pre-game stuff

Busy pregame in Detroit today. Brian Cashman is on the trip, to evaluate, to see what's wrong and how to fix it (for this year and beyond) and to keep people upbeat, he said. He's not sure how long he will continue on the trip, but definitely here and Tampa, possibly the whole thing.

Phil Coke and Chad Moeller were added to the active roster, with teams expanded today. To clear space on the 40-man roster, they moved Jorge Posada to the 60-day disabled list and designated Billy Traber for assignment.
No plans at the moment to bring anyone else up, though you might see Melky Cabrera at some point.
Phil Hughes will be playing in the Arizona Fall League, as will Austin Jackson and Kevin Russo, and possibly Humberto Sanchez.

Joba Chamberlain will be activated from the DL tomorrow. He will pitch out of the bullpen for the remainder of the year. Joe Girardi said: "We continue to look at him as a starter. It's just that we don't have enough time (to stretch him out)." Dan Giese will also be activated tomorrow.

Ivan Rodriguez got a huge ovation on his return to Detroit, and a number of people even held signs up. Kyle Farnsworth said things are going well, and while he would have liked to remain in New York, you have to go where you're sent.
