Soon to hear from Swisher
Nothing really new on the pitching front. No word from Sabathia et al. We will have a conference call with Nick Swisher later this afternoon at 5, so I'll get back to you with whatever he has to say.

According to Ken Rosenthal - the deal being offered to AJ is 4 years 60 mil with a 5th year option (no word on whether it's vesting, club, team or mutual) for 20 mil.
Anyone else think they're beginning to see Cashman's master plan for this year?
With this new AJ offer out there (or soon to be) and it being as high as is being reported I'm thinking Cash is trying to lock down 3 reliable ACE caliber pitchers (CC Wang AJ) by $$$ Force $$$...That's excluding whatever Joba does BTW.
He's basically telling the rest of the league to stay out of his way lest they incur a battle they will not and cannot win thus he'll get his guy/guys and right now it appears they're all pitchers.
So hypothetically...
Rotation
CC
Wang
Burnett
Joba
Pettitte/Moose/Hughes
Damon
Jeter
Swisher
Alex
Matsui
Nady
Cano
Posada
Gardner
Could that disproportionate amount of talent in the rotation overcome what looks like an offense worse than the 08's?
Here's a couple comparisons for arguments sake.
1. Damon v. Elsbury (Push)
2. Jeter v. Pedroia (RSox)
3. Swish v. Youk (R Sox)
4. Alex v. Texiera (Yankees)
5. Matsui v. Papi (RSox)
6. Nady v. Bay (RSox)
7. Posada v. J. Drew (RSox)
8. Cano v. Lugo (Yankees)
9. Gadner v. Varitek (Push)
CC v. Beckett (Yanks)
Wang v. Dice K (Push)
Burnett v. Lester (Yanks)
Joba v. Lowe (knock on wood)
Andy v. Wakefield (Yanks?)
I think we're literally dwarfed by the Sox offensively but can probably make up for some of that with our hypothetical Rotation and last years Bullpen provided they don't regress but could Cashman basically be planning on shoring up the rotation into a dominant force and waiting till the trade deadline to fix any offense ails?
One of you guys out there know who will be on the trade block this july?
Preferably a number 3 hitter who plays centerfield? HAHA
Ps that's if Burnett is HEALTHY!!!
And Godforbid we actually see Gardner as the opening day starter in CENTER FIELD
I feel *neaseaus* *nauseas*
VOMIT
Theo is going to get Tex as soon as we signed Swisher that became a formality IMO.

Trade a cornucopia (happy thanksgiving) of minor league talent to the Brewers(losing a lot of pitching this offseason) for Fielder and Hardy or to the Rangers(always looking for young pitching) for Hamilton and Blalock or to the Pirates for LaRoche and McClouth or to Houston(looking to shed payroll) for Berkman and Pence.
If the Yankees can do any of these deals without Joba or Hughes (maybe) involved it should be done. If I were in charge for the Yankees I would tell Drayton Moore that if he traded those guys to the Yankees that besides all the minor leaguers the Astros would get that we would "pick up" Andy's salary for the Astros.
correction - I meant Astros owner Drayton McLane. Drayton Moore is the GM for KC.
It's actually Dayton Moore who is the KC GM- jeez, I need to get a life, I can't believe I know that.
Francesa, the always wrong, is speculating the Yanks might pass on Pettite and he could go across town.
Andy will pitch for the Yankees only. Words right out of his own mouth. He'll be back, we need a veteran Yankee presence in the rotation.
If Swisher can hit like he can talk (on with Francessa) we'll be in good shape.
He seems like a kid who's excited and eager to join "The Greatest Team in Baseball"
I love this kid hah!!
He's the anti Jake Peavy!!
"I'm a guy man of course I love New York City"
Again I change my mind...F YOU TEX NICK IS THE MAN!!
I have indicated my liking of NS to the Yankees. I wanted to get a better feel for the player. So, the best first baseman of late has been Tino I looked at his stats and I'm not a stat guy but more of a feel and observer of a player and or team. Tino averaged 21 Hrs over his 16 seasons and .271 BA. His playoffs stats as are most players not so great but for the Grand Slam that we all remember hisfielding Pct. is fabulous. I won't compare Nick to Tino but they both have the strong personality to win and play hard.
This could be a real sleeper of a trade in favor of the Yanks. Swisher had 497 AB with 109 hits add just 10 more hits to the AB and he 's hitting .260 (497AB, 129hits). I feel confident that Cashman did well with this trade.
