This is probably all over the internet by now but I just got to my computer at 8 p.m. after a day of working on my kitchen remodel (while the entire house is remodeled). Stephon Marbury sent out a statement through the Knicks public relations staff regarding his comments on the Michael Vick situation.
This is the exact statement as it appeared in my email:
STEPHON MARBURY RESPONDS TO RECENT CRITICISM
“It is not uncommon for my comments to be misconstrued in the media but I feel compelled to put my recent comments in the right context. What Michael Vick did was wrong and he has admitted his guilt. He should be punished. However, he should be given a second chance as others have received for more serious crimes. There is no list for which animals should be killed and which shouldn't. As a spiritual being, I respect GOD's divine order. We're all created by GOD and animals are GOD's creatures as well. I love animals and none of them should be harmed. However, we don't react the same when other animals are being killed for sport or the sake of human pleasure. Should we as a society stop wearing fur coats and eating meat or hold those accountable who are responsible for the demise of those animals? In order to receive forgiveness we must all forgive in order for healing to take place. As an athlete and celebrity, I realize we are convenient targets for scrutiny, often unfairly. When I received a DUI, I learned from the mistake and vowed never to do it again. I came out a better person as a result. I'm sure he will learn from this mistake and become a better man. My family's thoughts and prayers go out to him and all of those impacted by this unfortunate situation.”
It's gonna be a fun season. I can just feel it. 38 days until point guards and centers.

Good post AH! Keep t comin!
Do I win an award for first post???
Looking back at my former Blog home, I must say the man deserves the idiot parade he has remaining! The Ice man was part of Larry Brown's failed hostile takeover! Wallow in it Icesola! Sucks being you!
Who's writing Steph's material?
Personally, Vick, et.al is growing old. With the 24 hour access to police blotters, steroid use, etc., it's all wearing me down. I'm not going to put my head in the sand, but would prefer to focus on the things that are happening on the court/field/diamond/ice. That said,
Do you think Nichols has p.o. Zeke enough for him to offer Nichols to Sacramento(with Balkman or N8), and is that enough to get Artest here?
Seriously, why is this such a big deal? Marbury is not very articulate, is despised by several members of the NY press, and the entire fiasco is due to that combination.
Can we please move on and talk about basketball, the Knicks, Alan Houston's comeback, anything but this nonsense?
I really don't see why what Stephon said is being made a joke. He is totally right. There are people who have raped, maimed, murdered, sold and used drugs however have been allowed to continue their athletic careers. Do I think what Vick did was wrong? Yes he demonstrated a terrible lack of judgement and character. These same sentiments have been echoed by Stephon and anyone else who has been fairly and diligently covering this whole thing. The NFL Union has done nothing to come to his defense and represent him. Which they are supposed to do. Right or wrong they are supposed to stand on the side of the player not management. Also this affair didn't get nearly the attention it deserved until those self serving bastards over at PETA started applying pressure to NIKE and the NFL. Why don't they apply the same pressure to the NRA? Do they care that the dogs seized will be euthanized? What is so ethical about that? I am sorry to rant but I can't stand hypocrites and I really can't stand someone speaking their mind and being slammed for it. Especially when what they said was true and did no harm to anyone.
Steph,
Please just say "No Comment" they really don't care what you have to say anyway unless its something that can be designed to boomerang and hurt you! Remember, they got NO love for ya brother!

It goes to show you, No matter how benevolent you are they still and always will despise you! Always looking to put a negative slant on anything you do. I know, I know it’s sad very sad.
Following David's advice and moving on to a basketball related topic, here's a longshot (no shot, really) possibility.
What if Zeke offered the mid-level max to Anderson Varejao? He might not sign it, preferring to wait until next year when he can be unrestricted and probably land a better contract.
If he did sign it, then two things could happen: The Cavs could match it and push themselves over the luxury tax, making a conference rival's awful cap situation even worse. Or, the Cavs could let him go and the Knicks would have the deepest, most talented frontcourt in the league -- all with guys 26 years old or younger.
(Then, Zeke would have more roster shuffling to do, and he'd have to convince Dolan to spend the money, but those are minor details!)
Alan, since it's August and I'm reduced to impossible Anderson Varejao scenarios, how about some insider speculation on the real story of the summer: Kobe. I'd like a post where you lay out all the possibilities and a realistic timeline for when this gets resolved.
Speaking of Kobe, if you missed True Hoop's blog on Kobe and Team USA, it's a must-read. Here's the link:

Thanks for this post Alan. You can assume to have brought proper closure to this matter. There has been many expressions here and all of it has been a thrilling part of the sport fanaticism experience.
I feel whole and fully human when I read fellow human beings express a reckoning, of sorts, to the reality that is our beloved America (the good ol' USA). Forget for a minute my favorite moniker about being a NYer (King of the F'n Hill)--I was "made" by the experiences gained from NY.
The reality that I speak of is the one where the common person, sitting on his/her couch, draped with the "Veil of Hypocrates", discusses with disgust, disparages, and dismisses the athletic or philanthropic accomplishments of the likes of: Chamique Holdsclaw, Michael Vick, Stephon Marbury, Alex Rodriguez, Steve Nash, B. Favre, Larry Bird, Mia Hamm, David Beckham, George Foreman (fill in the name of some super rich athlete who may not have completed college or speak with eloquence or flair--not saying that any or or all these examples cited here fit that description).
The "veiled ones" do this not because these "star personalities" are not without faults. Cloaked with the "Veil of Hypocrates", we reduce athletic or community heros/heroines so that we can lift our own selves and camouflage our own foibles and failings. I personally could not stand how Bird got all the calls, or how Jordan always seemed to make the shot. It caused me to hate them--two decent, respectable fellow human beings. If it appeared that these people could get in the way of my happiness or justify why I did not make it to the big leagues for the big bucks, then the "Veil of Hypocrates" allowed me to reduce them to an acceptable dimension.
Therein lies the problem of over glamorization of athletes and public figures. These instances, like when one is caught involved in a crime or lapse in judgement enables us to reduce them to mere mortal status and thereby raise our own self-worth. Meanwhile, our values should not be based on a comparison with the next person. It should be based on our own pursuits and standards of excellence, based on an overall human decency grounded by the golden rule (the one about doing onto others). It should not be covetous.
So therefore, I challenge each and everyone one of us who is considering to express a perspective on this or any other matter involving these individuals described above, to first verify if your perspective is clouded by the "Veil of Hypocrates". Are you holding Randolph, Morris, Kendall, Rodriguez, Tochet, Gretzky, Jordan, Earvin, etc. to a standard that not even you or your human creators could meet? Are you judging them on the basis of the investment you made for them to entertain you as a fan or member of the public? Are you judging them on the basis of how they have squandered a talent/resource/craft/skill with which you would do so very much or manage so much more efficiently? STOP! STOP RIGHT THERE!! Live your life and let the Great Equalizer (which admittedly sometinmes is the community speaking in unisome) right the wrongs. It has been said that the great equalizer hates ugly. As I have experienced lately, Hypocrates is one ugly god, explaining why it is always veiled in cloak and dagger. America is showing its ugliness by this Vick matter like we saw its ugliness during the Katrina tragedy. We're getting uglier and uglier as a nation of human beings. Let us put all of this in perspective folks. As trite as it may sound, "Let's keep it real".
KFL
Keep it real is such a cliche. Injecting race as the main issue in this dog fight, defense of dog fighting makes no logical sense. Many are outraged at the 3 VA individuals that maintained their gruesome activities for several years. They got busted. How is that about race? What in the world does it have to do with Katrina? I suggest "to keep it real", you weigh the actual facts surrounding the case. One is accountable for their own behavior, deeds, conduct and words. You, me, Vick & Marbury. Overlooking that, and supposing everyone is overeager to despise Marbury; is just plain confused.
The last time I looked up the Senate members of the state of NY, Marbury wasn't amoung them. If fact theres no record of him ever running for anything besides point guard for the NBA. Why all this press for someone who supported a friend with his opinion, and is powerless to prepose, amend or pardon anyone from breaking the law? Time to move on and focus on the structure of our beloved Knicks!
Steady,
That post you wondered about at 8:52 on another blog, is um....non other than....!
BTW Alan,
Big Props to whomever put that Picture of Alica Keyes in your Paper! Now that is a true "Dream Girl!" I trade any Knick for her. Just put her on the Court and other teams would be slideing in their drool as we go 82-0.
You got it Ali G--Nuf' Rispek!
KFL
If dog-fighting is so awful (and I think it is), then why does Tim Donaghy stand to do more time then Vick and his co-horts? All he did was bet on some NBA games.
Yernuts--Exactly!
BTW, if you place your hands before eyes and can't see them, would you say that they're there?
KFL
Alan,
Have you seen the movie "Ali G. Indahouse?" Typical Ali G., with a great soundtrack. It's on HBO. Set the TiVo.
I'll pass on setting my Tivo to record Ali G...and that's sad because I have the 135 hours or 180 hours of record time....lol
Anyway...low and behold...new Mike Vick news broke today.
He is going to admit to funding the enterprise and running it across state lines.
He is not admiting to gambling or killing ANY dogs !!!
Now we have a whole new ball game...
Very interesting because all 3 of his CD's (co defendants) are saying he did.
Give me a few to digest this and get my thoughts together.....I'll be back later with my opinions.
Steph...you didn't have to come out and apologize about what you said....unless Isiah asked you to.
By the way....
Did anybody see the story about Houston saying his comeback is a go?
This morning Reggie Miller came out and said he will not be making his comeback with the Celtics or any team.
Great news for the Knicks fans as we all know Reggie is a Knick killer.
Man...did anybody see Team USA last night?
They looked pretty good huh?
How many points did they win by?
Wow...they won by 64 points....123-59.
Is it me or do the first 2 games feel a little like Deja Vu?
Kobe, Lebron, Carmello, Howard, Kidd and Redd were incredible.
Can you imagine what it's going to be like when they get D Wade and Bosh back?
I think the draft which had
Lebron
Mello
Wade
Bosh
Josh Howard
Heinrich
TJ Ford
That had to be the deepest draft ever.
The next closest draft was 96 with
Iverson
Camby
Shareef
Marbury
Ray Allan
Antoine Walker
J O'neal
Steve Nash
Kobe
Peja
and my main man Dr Z from Cleveland.
People sleep on the 99 draft also...
Francis
Brand
B Davis
Odom
Rip
Andre Miller
Matrix (Marion)
Terry
Magette
Artest
and Fred Weis LOL
AK 47 (Kirilenko) was also taken in this draft
DVJ
Maybe you can set your TiVo to record more Michael Vick analysis. Remember the name of this blog is The Knix Fix; I'm sure there are blogs devoted to Michael Vick commentary. Please keep it blue and orange, or at least hoops related.
Oh yeah, you did mention that. Damn, I wasted my question on a repeat! Sorry, I kind of zone out at work sometimes!!!!
