Jared Out at least 2 Weeks; Isiah Displeased with Starting Backcourt

Not the best way to close out the preseason.

- A blowout loss to the Nets.

- An injury to a player (Jared Jeffries, knee sprain) expected to be in the rotation

- Rare public criticism from Isiah Thomas on his starting backcourt of Stephon Marbury and Jamal Crawford.

a href="http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/basketball/knicks/blog/act_jared_jeffries.jpg">act_jared_jeffries.jpgLet's start with the injury.

Jeffries sprained his right knee after he picked off a downcourt pass from Jason Kidd to Richard Jefferson. He went to the floor in obvious pain after he landed awkwardly. Jeffries had ACL surgery on the knee a few years ago, so there was some initial concern it could be worse.

It wasn't. An MRI revealed it was only a sprain. Jeffries will be re-evaluated in two weeks so you can pretty much eliminate him from the season opener in Cleveland next Friday. There's one less guy to guard LeBron James.

The game was ugly from the start for the Knicks, who never seemed to get their offense untracked and when they did get open looks just couldn't get shots to consistently fall. The Knicks shot 31 for 84 from the floor (36.9 percent) and an awful 5 for 21 from three-point range (23.8).

p1_thomas.jpgThomas seemed particularly concerned about Marbury and Crawford, whom he called out specifically when discussing the preseason after the game. They shot a combined 4 for 19 in the game, but did have 5 assists each and only one turnover (Crawford) and four steals (three by Marbury) between them.

"For Crawford and Marbury, this is their exhibition season," Thomas said. "We're hoping we see two different guys."

I asked Isiah to elaborate on it because in the game it was hard not to notice Zach Randolph's frustration several times when shots were going up from the perimeter and the ball wasn't finding the post as often as it should.

"I know they are better players than what we have seen in the exhibition," Isiah said. "A lot of the focus has been putting the ball inside, but we definitely need a healthy compliment from our guards to be considered a dangerous team."

Thomas' words were presented to Crawford, who said he had heard the same from Thomas, but seemed surprised it was publicized.

“One thing about coach is he’ll always talk to you before you hear about it from the media,” Crawford said, “and we appreciate that.”

Quick programming note: please see my daily story on Newsday.com regarding C. Vivian Stringer's comments about Isiah and Isiah's response to her.

* *

As for the 4-3 preseason record and going out with a blowout loss, Crawford didn't put much emphasis on it. "You can't read too much into it," he said. "The Cavs went to the Finals last year and in the preseason they were 1-5."

The season opens next Friday in Cleveland and Zach Randolph feels that is a perfect place to start.

"We've got to see how we match up against the best," he said.

Junior-varsity slate means nothing.

Even if Pop Gun Crawford and Stephon Marbury, Born Again father, husband, and self-admitted in a court of law Adulterer, did prove me correct (again) with their 15 of 19 bricklaying efforts.

A 40-point loss, a win over the Celts, and a closing stumble against the Nets mean nothing. Let's wait for the varsity season and 10- and 20-game increments to review in greater detail the Knicks of Isiah Thomas, found guilty by a jury of his peers of multiple counts of workplace sexual harassment.

Jared Jeffries, hope the knee heals. Never like to see anyone get hurt. Not even the Coney Island Cupcake.

Basketball-wise, don't hurry back, Jared. You won't be missed.

Lastly, African, Georgette, and kandi must be apoplectic about C. Vivian Stringer's comments to ESPN reported in Newsday.

Lemme guess, Certain Alleged Supporters of the Knicks (CASKs), some call you Possettes: The MAN made C. Viv come down on Zeke The Workplace Power Freak like that, right?

"Rutgers women's basketball coach C. Vivian Stringer, whose team was the subject of the infamous 'nappy headed ho's' comment by Don Imus, blasted Isiah Thomas on Friday for the comments he made regarding the use of the word 'bitch' toward a woman during his video deposition in the Anucha Browne Sanders sexual harassment trial.

"'I thought he lost his mind, honestly," Stringer told ESPN.

"'You want to know what I really felt? It was disgusting,' Stringer added. 'What does he think? This was a woman first. He has no right to put her down and then think it's OK for me to put her down but it's not all right for a white man to put her down. What are you talking about? She is a human being, and as a female, and in particular as a black female, I took tremendous offense to that.'"

Disgusting, that about sums up Zeke The Workplace Power Freak and the Coney Island Cupcake and Self-Admitted Adulterer.

It's obvious that certain people post only to inflame and incite. We've been spared for the most part. The suggestion has been made to simply ignore when it happens here. Otherwise, you're asking for more.

If you don't feed a lost dog, it will stop coming to your door.

It's also been suggested that Fixers need mantra, to indicate when a post needs to be rejected by the community. The current candidate (not my own) that I find terrific is:

Don't feed the trolls.

So I say unto you all: Don't feed the trolls.

Alan – not that I want to belabor the law suit . . . but if only in fairness to Isiah, this isn’t the first time he’s claimed he was quoted out of context about who can call a black woman a b*tch. Okay, his legal team must have access to the full transcript of that deposition. MSG should release it, so we can all see for ourselves.

Can you request that from the PR department for us? I mean, you would think he would love the opportunity to clear the air . . . and his name.

Sounds like some of the BIG GUNS are rumbling. No kissy, kissy. I like the sound, but you guys are swinging at each other like only one of you has valid points (Speaking of kissy, kissy, I just read where IT told Vescey no more k.i.s.s.e.s, which as you know is an IT trademark greeting sometimes to men as well as women. Vescey is such a pri*k though. I won’t even tell you how gleefully disrespectful he is.)

Anywho, I’ve been reading all summer about these wishful thinking lineups and I am glad that we are getting around to cutting time. So you guys keep pimp slapping each other, while I slip this little ditty in on you under the radar.

I would suggest to you that, assuming Zeke remains on the job, he has a certain philosophy that is usually apparent in his roster selections. First, Zeke tends to go three deep for every position with at least one convertible (tweener?).

Last year at Center we had the following:

Curry/James/Cato/ then Morris late Convertible: Rose

Last year at Point we had:

Marbury/Francis/Collins Convertible: Crawford

Last year at shooting guard we had:

Crawford/Robinson/Marbury Convertible: Richardson

Last year at the soft forward spot we had:

Richardson/Jeffries/Balkman/ Convertible: Lee

Last year at the power forward spot we had:

Frye/Lee/Rose/ Convertible: Cato or Balkman

Last year his top five units in terms of minutes on the floor were as follows:

1. Marbury----Crawford------Richardson-------Lee-----Curry

2. Marbury----Francis---------Richardson------Frye-----Curry

3. Marbury----Crawford------Richardson------Frye-----Curry

4. Marbury----Crawford------Jeffries-----------Frye-----Curry

5. Marbury----Crawford------Lee---------------Frye-----Curry

The most effective units were (5) and (2). Statistically, the least effective was the Starbury/Crawford/Richardson/Frye/Curry. This unit was outscored by opponents in 16 of 24 games in which they played.

The second principal Isiah seems to follow is that he gives vets first shot and they must work themselves out of a starting position. He also will allow them to work up to speed while in the starting position. Cite Marbury, Jeffries and Francis as evidence of that tenet of management.

As I suggested a long, long time ago. The starting lineup will probably be Marbury, Crawford, Qrich, Z-Bo and Curry. The only substitution would possibly be Jeffries for Qrich which is unlikely to start the season, because Z-Bo and Curry will need room to work out the kinks. Jeffries would get in the way and has practically no shot unless he gets plenty of ops. Not happening! After the starting lineup, Isiah has the same problem he had last year in terms of deciding how to dispense minutes and to use his weapons to beat up on opponents. Yet, that is another topic for another day.

Based on the foregoing and 1) comments by Jamal Crawford, who is not delusionary but confident that Isiah will treat him fairly and like a man; 2)that Fred Jones has been introduced to the public by MSG; and 3)comments made by Zeke, I would suggest that the following roster is the most likely. Three deep at each position.

This is of course barring a trade:

Marbury ---------------------------------- Collins ---------------------------Robinson

Crawford ---------------------------------Jones-------------------------------Richardson (convertible)

Richardson -------------------------------Jeffries-----------------------------Balkman/Chandler

Randolph----------------------------------Lee---------------------------------Rose

Curry---------------------------------------James------------------------------Morris

That leaves Houston, Jordan (who needs to bulk up and play which will not happen on the Knick roster unless he is in D-League), Nichols and Cato (?).

I think James needs to go, but States (and others) is probably right about why Zeke would keep him. If either Randolph or Curry goes down, the Knicks need that body as insurance. AAAGH. I think if Zeke cuts himself a center, it is Morris who looked o’k (he did block shots) in the summer league, but as many noted, he just seems to be disinterested and to lack passion sometimes.

Obviously, I do not have a third shooting guard as a backup. That would be AH20 or Nichols. However, Chandler has already been promised that he would be drafted and that he would be a Knicks player for the future. I take the Pony deal as further evidence of a guaranteed spot in the NBA even if the Knicks decide he is trade bait. He will either sit in a suit or be in D-League honing his skills in a way that practice doesn’t quite cut it. (Chandler sticking means that either Balkman or Jeffries may be gone by the February trading deadline.)

My friend (who's a "hating" Knicks fan) and I were arguing last night about Nate. I was telling him how he was gonna have a monster season. he laughed, and wanted to put a bet on it. So we both agreed that if he gets at least one vote for sixth man of the year, then he's had a pretty great season.

so i got a hundi out there that nate's getting at least one sixth man vote.

fixers - is this a good bet? i was kinda drunk last night when i made it, but this morning, i think its looking like a pretty sure thing. my biggest concern is that he gets starting time if marbury or crawford get injured/benched, and then be out of the running for the award...

Isiah saying that his video taped deposition was spliced to take his words out of context is just another example of this guy trying to BS his way out of trouble. Notice that alleged splicing was never raised by his attorneys in Court? It's because it never happened. It's just another convenient excuse from Isiah in an attempt to cover his ass. Pathetic. Go ask the poor former CBA owners about Isiah's BS and how it cost them their league.

How is a team of players supposed to win when someone like Isiah is their leader? All excuses, no accountability.

Actually Geo, you are misinformed as are many people who use the MSM (mainstream media) for their main source of news.

Depositions such as the one taken by Mr. Thomas are always spliced or partially used since they are typically hours in length. Opposing counsel has admitted that portions of the tapes were used to support ABS' case.

Typically, attorneys may object to portions of the deposition for various reasons, but the attorneys share the depositions they propose to use beforehand. An objection may be raised before trial or during trial, although objections are generally not supposed to be made during the deposition except for limited reasons. By receiving the deposition pieces prior to trial Isiah's attorneys therefore prepared crossexamination and Isiah's direct examination to clarify or rebut the dep portions played by Plaintiff's lawyers.

So you may find him full of excuses and a liar in other areas as you desire, but in this instance you are wrong, but I don't blame you, you have a ready made excuse: The Media.

It will never happen, due to bruised veteran egos, but I'd love to see the following starting line up, even for just one game:

Nate
Q
Lee
Z-Bo
Curry

But I sincerely hope Steph and Craw find their stroke.

Cheers

Geo the deposition you watched was 5 minutes long but in reality it was 7 hours long. There has to be some splicing done to get from there to here. When I watched it its evident every passage was spliced. When IT says he makes a distinction between black/white it was in response to a different question from what it appears to be on the tape. The reason he answered yes is because of added "percieved racial overtones" to the sexist overtones in white man vs black woman scenario. Which is something that everybody would agree with.

Matt B – I’ve never been Nate’s biggest fan. But you can’t deny he’s working on his game about as hard as any Knick at the moment. He had a terrific summer league. And I’m also very impressed that Alan, who was also never Nate’s biggest fan, has been writing about how well (and under control) he’s been playing lately.

All that said, I don’t think he’s got a shot at 6th man of the year. He’ll never beat Lee for that award. If Lee hadn’t gone down with an injury last year, he would have been in the top 3. I think it’s his to lose this year.

@geo – of course, “Lives” is right that depositions are normally hours and hours long, so by definition it’s true that Isiah’s was “edited.” But on the other hand, that information is as useful as if Isiah had announced that “the earth is round.” Because ALL depositions are edited, that doesn’t prove his case that his words were taken out of context. There’s only way to clear that up. He should release the transcript of the deposition – or at least that portion of the transcript. Then we can all judge for ourselves. But you’re also quite correct that if Isiah’s lawyers really felt his words were misrepresented in the way they were shown to the jury . . . we would have heard about it in court . . . not just in Isiah’s Q&As with reporters weeks and weeks later.
We can speculate all we want about what was said in response to what. But it's all a guess until we actually see the transcript.

Trane, I'm not really sure why viewing the transcripts matter except to verify that Isiah is being truthful when he says the tape was edited. That is the truth.

If we want to see the tapes to verify that he said something different than what was reported, which is that he condoned calling black women a "bitch" well he has already dispelled that notion both in court (as reported by the MSM and his attorneys) and outside of court. Additionally, when you listen to the tape itself which is on several websites, his statement that he does not condone it is pretty clear.

So what are you asking for proof of that isn't already settled.

My points are accurate. The tape was spliced. His attorneys responded to the Plaintiff''s characterization of the tape.

The press has already placed it's fake moral judgment on statements that are already pretty clear. He and his attorneys would be fools to have this trial continued in the media by media examination of deposition transcripts. Why would he do that? To satisfy you that there was more context to his words. Where have you ever seen that happen -- releasing deposition transcripts to the media to prove a point already proven?

Release would be sheer lunacy regardless of what he said in the transcript because he is already branded a liar and transcripts will not be used to dispel that notion whether true or false.

Jersey,

Things a little slow over at Lou's Auto Body & Law School, with offices in Camden, Newark, and Trenton.

A jury sees the full videotaped deposition. The whole thing, including the name, address, family information, etc.

The media receives, due to the length of available time on newscasts and space in newspapers, only brief snippets of information to fit into the character (tough word to use with Isiah Thomas, found liable by a jury of his peers on multiple charges workplace sexual harassment, and Stephon Marbury, Born Again father, husband, and self-admitted in a court of law Adulterer) of the overall story.

That's why we don't see, hear, or read the entire White House press conference back and forth; that's why we never will. Of course, the White House and C-Span offer a videotaped copy of the press conference and, in the case of Penn Avenue, even a transcript on the chat on its website. Isn't modern technology wonderful?

Personally, I welcome Zeke The Workplace Power Freak and Chuck Dolan's punk to start their own website and post, in full and with the agreement of Anucha Browne-Sanders's counsel, the entire, UNEDITED videotaped depositions of Zeke The Workplace Power Freak and Chuck Dolan's punk. Let's see the whole thing. NO EDITS. NO CUTS.. No "framing" statements by Zeke The Workplace Power Freak (modern technology can do terrible things to videotaped statements).

Why not encourage your boss, starburyfan, to start a petition on his website, LoveIsiahOrDieSukkah or something like that, calling for Zeke The Workplace Power Freak and Chuck Dolan's punk to release the full, UNEDITED videotaped depositions.

Surely such ardent supporters of judicial integrity and racial fairness as the Certain Alleged Supporters of the Knicks (CASKs), some call them Possettes, that dominate (and threaten others) on starburyfan's website, LoveIsiahOrDieSukkah or something like that, would advocate such honesty and integrity to clear the names of their leaders, Zeke The Workplace Power Freak and the Coney Island Cupcake.

Aww, Choo-Choo train doesn't want to type with me anymore.

I'm crushed; really I am. I may need days to overcome this news.

Days!

"Release would be sheer lunacy regardless of what he said in the transcript because he is already branded a liar and transcripts will not be used to dispel that notion whether true or false."

Lives in New Jersey, Toils at Lou's Auto Body & Law School, with offices in Camden, Newark, and Trenton,

I do believe you're frightened that the full deposition, if released, will prove only that Isiah Thomas, found liable by a jury of his peers on multiple charges workplace sexual harassment, believes it is perfectly acceptable for the African-American male to abuse, harass, and even terrorize the African-American female.

For examples, see: Travis Henry, father of nine children with nine different women in four different states; Evander Holyfrield, father of nine children; Shawn Kemp, father of seven children with six different women; and, of course, both Stephon Marbury, Born Again father, husband, and self-admitted in a court of law Adulterer; and Zeke The Workplace Power Freak.

Also, your legal work remains more than a bit shoddy; time and again, Dean Lou told you to stop snorting those automobile air fresheners and tend to your legal text. You should have listened.

And Choo-Choo Trane still doesn't like me. Awwwwwwww.

Lives – I don’t understand. Isiah has continually claimed that the true meaning of what he said was misrepresented in court because of the way the tapes were edited. We all know that’s easy to do. He claims that his words were taken out of context and that he meant something else. I have no problem believing that’s entirely possible. All I’m saying is, okay -- let’s see. It’s an easy assertion to back up. Let’s see all the questions that were asked, and all of his responses. Then we can know for certain the context in which his answers were given. And we can know if his thoughts were misrepresented in court. As he claims they were.

BTW, I said your points were accurate. I only pointed our further that virtually ALL depositions presented in court have to be edited because they’re usually all that long. So just the fact that the tape was edited, doesn’t, on its own, prove that the meaning of what he said was misrepresented.

Listen – I’ve always taken a very objective view of this trial. I’m not Isiah’s biggest fan in the world. I think he’s done some good things and some bad things. But I also don’t trust Sanders any farther than I could throw her (which I assure you is not very far). I probably went into that trial with a more open mind that many who post around here since most people decided Isiah was innocent before the trial ever started. And, as I said, I think her entire position – and legal strategy – were suspect. Everybody kept saying Isiah deserves his day in court. I believe that. I frankly felt – and posted – that I thought the harassment charges would be thrown out, but she’d win on the wrongful dismissal charge, which seemed to me much easier to prove. And has a lot less to do with Isiah.

But my posts this morning were based mostly on what Isiah said just last night. He said:

"If she would like to hear the facts, and not the innuendos and edited portions of what I supposedly said, I'm not hard to find. It's easy to get what I said," Thomas said. "So don't speak from ignorance. Get the facts of what I said and not the portion that was taken out of context."

The same quote is in about 10 different sources, so I have no trouble believing it’s accurate. Okay, there can only be one “facts” he’s referring to. That’s the full transcript of what he said. Isiah is saying that if you believe what was shown in court out of context, you don’t get the full meaning of what he said. For that, he’s saying, you need to see all of what was said. And all I’m saying is . . . great. Bring it on.

All I’m doing is accepting the truth of what he said last night and asking him to follow up on showing us what those facts really are. It’s called giving him the benefit of the doubt. I’m at a loss to understand how you could have a problem with that. Or, how proving his case would be lunacy. All I’m doing is precisely what he recommended would be the fair way to treat him.

I can't encourage the Fixer community strongly enough:

Don't feed the trolls.

Back to B-A-S-K-E-T-B-A-L-L; Could we have another Blog for all the other CRAP outside the Game?. Crawford is a concern; I don't think he is the type of spot-up shooter that can complement this offense. They really need a 2 guard that can hit the open jumper and Jamal is a CAREER 40% shooter. Pyrotechnics and playground game aside, He has to add more to his game. He will get less shots this year and has to do more with them, and more with the rest of his game (defense, passing, ball handling). I don't know if he has it in him.

How about not feeding the trools anything related to the trial.

The trial is hater food not fan food.

Nate should start over Crawford. Zeke has to stop picking starters based on salary.

@ emac2 -- your point is well taken. I don't apologize for writing about the trial because Alan had a piece on the Newsday website last night about the coach's response to Isiah. That's what ignited this little digression. But in general, I agree. I'd love it if the trial never comes up agin.

No apologies necessary.

It would be nice if a little discussion of the issue was possible but the hater/baiters swarm all over that stuff like flies on sheet.

Hey Mat B,
Nate, most of the times, run the team better than Marbury. He can penetrate and kick to the open man better than Steph and the offense seems to be more productive with him. As a defender,Marbur is much byetter against SG and big PG than quick gaurds (ex Mo Williams, both of the Raptors PG, etc) because he has lost a step. However, Steph is still a little better than Nate overall, but the gap is almost close. Maybe by Jan-Feb 08, Nate will be our starting PG.

As far as I am concern, the only 2 given starters on the Knicks is E-City and ZBO. Every other position, should be base on match-ups and still up for grabs. Sorry D-Lee, on this team your best position is the first big man off the bench.

Q-Rich should not start against a tall quick SF such as Rasard Lewis. He is better at gaurding muscular SF because he is slow. Jeffries should start against those guys or whenever the other team front line is tall. There is no scenario this year, except for injury, that Chandler should start. Balkman is more suitable than all our SF at being the first off the bench and that should continue no matter which other SF starts.

Crawford should only start at SG if the oponent is not a big time scoring SG. In that case, Collins should be the starter or some times Jones because they both play better defense. Collins is our best defender on Vince Carter, hands down. We should start him every game against the Nets. Lets face it guys, Q-Rich is too slow to play SG on a everyday basis.

Marbury should start most of the time but sit out and rest against quick penetrating PG like the ones name above. Nate will push Marbury to play better this year or he will be sitting next to that big Fat, stationary light pole, Jerome James.

Speaking of that waste of space, he cost us a good future NBA player in D-Nich.............Makes me mad. Love, Peace and Hairgrease to all Bloggers!!!

Knicks fan for Life............Go NY, Go NY, GO !!!!!

From ESPN, a scouting report on why Little Man Nate is not, and never will be, a starter in the NBA.

Defense, gentlemen, defense.

Scouting report: Robinson is only 5-9 but is a spectacular leaper who ranked 14th among point guards in rebound rate and, in one particularly impressive display, rejected a shot by 7-6 Yao Ming. His hyperactivity carries over to the defensive end, as he ranked fourth among point guards in fouls per minute -- most of them coming 40 feet from the basket.

And while his quickness is an asset on defense, he seems to have an innate ability to run into the screener on pick-and-roll plays. When he didn't run smack into it, Robinson usually went under the screen and conceded the jumper -- another no-no.

Robinson's height is obviously a major disadvantage because it requires him to defend point guards, but because of his scoring instincts he's better off at shooting guard offensively. The Knicks worked around this by pairing him with Jamal Crawford and letting Crawford run the point, but it greatly limits his usefulness if there's only one other guard he can play with.

Thus, at some point he needs to get a clue how to play the point or his role will never expand beyond its current 20-25 minutes a game. This is in part a maturity issue -- Robinson is only 23 and his childish antics have become well known. Most obvious among them was his reaction in the fight with the Nuggets -- his shot at J.R. Smith greatly helped things get out of hand, and he richly deserved his 10-game suspension.

2007-08 outlook: Robinson won't be taking Stephon Marbury's gig, so look for him to spend another 20-25 minutes as a combo guard off the bench. He'll finish some games when he's running hot, but for the most part the Knicks will let him fire away with the second unit and then yank him out when the grownups return. in.

He'll really help in the "microwave" role, but he has no chance of moving up unless he tones down his act and shows more awareness of the team concept. One senses that day still might be a year or two away.

Also, and this must be driving Peaceman, African, Georgette, kandi, and the rest of the Certain Alleged Supporters of the Knicks (CASKs), some call them Possettes, ABSOLUTELY NUTS, notice that not a single one of the African-American NBA experts at ESPN picked the Knicks to finish above fourth in the Atlantic Division and 10th in the Eastern Conference.

J.A. Adande
ATLANTIC: 4 | EAST: 10 Arrival of Zach Randolph makes them bigger, not that much better. They added a selfish player to a team that was third-worst in assists last season.

Greg Anthony
ATLANTIC: 4 | EAST: 13 How do Zach Randolph and Eddy Curry play together? It'll take time for them to learn what to do when the other is the focal point. Still, a team with talent.

Chris Broussard
ATLANTIC: 4 | EAST: 13 The Knicks have plenty of talent, street cred and swagger, but just as much (if not more) baggage. Chemistry and character are huge concerns, but there are other question marks as well. Like, uhh, who's gonna D-up?

Jemele Hill
ATLANTIC: 4 | EAST: 10 Same old, same old: Suspect chemistry and leadership. Now you have to factor in the impact of their tumultuous offseason. With Zach Randolph it's hard not to entertain the Knicks sneaking into the playoffs, but it's still an iffy call.

Of course, the CASKs/Possettes will argue that Jemele Hill's opinion does not matter and that she belongs on the receiving end of abuse from either Mike Tirico or Isiah Thomas, found liable by a jury of his peers on multiple counts of workplace sexual harassment.

Or the CASKs/Possettes will claim that Ms. Hill really belongs in an SUV with Stephon Marbury, Born Again father, husband, and self-admitted under oath in a court of law Adulterer.

Or perhaps African, kandi, Georgette, and Peaceman will just claim that THE MAN made 'em do it.

Even ESPN, the living monument to workplace sexual harassment in America, and its African-American NBA experts have deserted the Zeke The Workplace Power Freak, the Coney Island Cupcake, and the New York Knicks.

I'm not sure what games you all were watching this preseason, but Curry looks horrible!! He looks slow and out of condition. He should be moving constantly in the paint trying to get low post position instead of trying to bull people over and getting three second calls in the paint. He also need to be wary of the help defense when receiving the ball in the paint. Live in NJ, I love your post. Teams scored more when Q-Rich and Crawford were on the court together because they are terrible defensively. Any player with ball handling ability they can't check. Trade them, Jefferies and Balkman and get us Ron-Ron.

Is there any man here that hasnt called a woman a bitch?
If not to her face than to someone else? Even to one woman discussing another? Did I miss something?
To me its the equivalent of calling a guy an asshole.
Women call eachother bitches all the time.
isnt it just a woman who is difficult to get along with.

Yes, you did miss something.

I find it difficult to accept that people can say the most awful things about Isiah without backing it up with facts. BT did a mailbag where he said

"I have never encountered a single problem, or anything resembling a conflict in my three years working Knick games. Remember, I also spent four seasons calling St. John's games, so I have spent a lot of time in that building recently, and speaking for myself, the only complaint would be the lack of wins. The people I interact with daily, Mike Breen, Johnny Hoops, Gus Johnson, Al Trautwig, Earl Monroe, John Starks, Allan Houston....I have enjoyed my time there, professionally. Personally, I've been exposed to some good people. Take it for what it's worth, but that's been MY experience."

I trust BT enough to know that there are 2 sides to every story. Don't you think BT would have seen this behavior at least once in all the years he was there. It's funny, many of you are willing to stand up and scream for this trial, but have no problem with a ref that worked many Knick games was fixing games. The Knicks lost like 14 games by three points or less last year.

Second Will Marbury ever be aggressive again. When our inside game is weak Marbury needs to drive to the basket more. I love the team play, but Jason Kidd doesn't act afraid to take a shot.

Just like Africans Americans like to use the N word they also live for the word bitch. Isiah says in the transcript that ABS spoke in a kind of ebonics that wouldn't offend a fellow African Americans, but wouldn't offend a white person. Once ABS used it, the floodgates were open.

The word Ni--- may have been gone from the language if rappers didn't keep it alive like some lost treasure.

hey walter

you ever think rappers were the ones hearing it everyday.

maybe the fact that you only hear the n word from rappers means that rappers are your only view into lower class neighborhoods.

they're doing you and your kids a service by allowing you to take a peek into a world that is never considered.

in the same way, zeke let you peek into the mind of a black man when he said calling a black woman a bitch is worse out of the mouth of a white man then it is a black man. "Yes, I'm sorry to say I make a distinction".

That's very different from "Yes, I think its cool for black men to call a black woman a bitch".

That's not what he said, although, it is what Thomas is being portrayed to have said.

"I thought he lost his mind, honestly," Stringer told ESPN.

"You want to know what I really felt? It was disgusting," Stringer added. "What does he think? This was a woman first. He has no right to put her down and then think it's OK for me to put her down but it's not all right for a white man to put her down. What are you talking about? She is a human being, and as a female, and in particular as a black female, I took tremendous offense to that."

Eventually, she will learn what the true statement was. She will hear the statement he made in its proper context. And, as Sharpton came to change his mind, so will Stringer.

Unfortunately, some folks will miss the news of the change of heart like blip on a radar. Newspapers can't sell printing apologies, can they?

Stringer is just like so many others that will trample whoever is in the way to get some press.

Now the real season begins , and a real assessment of our team will be in order after 20 games.

luklessberger,

Nah, you didn't miss something. To merely describe what you ignored as "something" would be a compliment to your incompetence.

You missed the whole damn boat, home-cooked Sunday dinner, the beautiful girl, the jaw-dropping jam, Brando in "On The Waterfront," Dr. King (R.I.P.) Dream Speakin' in D.C., Reggie in Game 6 of 1977, and the stake investment in a start-up named Microsoft.

"Stringer is just like so many others that will trample whoever is in the way to get some press."

emac,

Nice to know that Isiah Thomas, found liable by a jury of his peers of multiple charges of workplace sexual harassment, and Stephon Marbury, Born Again father, husband, and self-admitted under oath in a court of law Adulterer, will always be so nice around their fellow men and women.

Just ask a jury in Manhattan and a Madison Square Garden intern by way of St. John's.

Oh, by the way, remember that the Coney Island Cupcake didn't have first call on that intern; instead, the Coney Island Cupcake swiped her from his cousin. His blood.

Nice to know the Coney Island Cupcake and Zeke The Workplace Power Freak would never hurt their fellow American or do anything deceitful for personal gain.

Don't feed the trolls.

would a trade for jason terry make sense, very high 3pt %.
i am really starting to believe N8 should start over marbury.
if BARF was only around to read that comment.

AH,

You had a good thing going in here about, oh, a month or so ago. This was the place to be. I used to look forward to coming in here and just reading, not so much posting...even though I would every now and again...

But that Mark fella has really made the property value drop in here.

Censor his posts, and it may be a decent place again.

"Censor his posts, and it may be a decent place again."

The Riffian Mindset. When you disagree with another's viewpoints and/or that individual is just plain correct, silence them.

Isn't that why you have family located at various facilities in this state, riff?
