Isiah Thomas in his pregame address still won't say if James Dolan has given him any assurances, but he is speaking a lot more confidently, which suggests Dolan has.
Thomas, who was again heavily booed during pregame introductions, then went on to say that winning with the Knicks isn't easy.
"A lot of people have tried to pass the test of winning in New York, a lot of people have failed," Isiah told the media. "I beleive only one coach ahs won a championship here. A lot have failed, but a lot of people come and get tested. And so here we are and my job is to try to survive this test."

Maybe a battle of the two worst teams in the league when it's all said and done.
Let's hope that moron Dolan doesn't give Isiah another contract extension because even the Knicks can beat these Bulls.
Just imagine if Thomas hadn't been able to steal Curry and Chicago had invested the big Wallace contract on someone who could score.
Well, that one got tense in the 4th Q - NYK showed poise after CHI tied the game, and were resilient enough to get the W.
Crawford's D was a surprise today. If we get that kind of D out of him every game, I'd be pretty happy, even with reduced offense.
Balkman rocks. He did so much on the floor today, I'm convinced that his absence was a huge contributing factor to the losing streak.
Steph played a good two-way game today. And the whole team seemed more focused on the defensive end today. Here's hoping they keep that in their heads and don't forget about D in a couple of games.
Too many TOs from the bigs today. From the look of it, it's because they're either tossing bad passes out of the double (Curry) or trying to go to the hole with 3 guys hanging on them (ZBo). Zach was clutch in the end, but he's gotta know when to pass it back out.
16 missed FTs??? WTF? That must improve.
Having said all that, I'll take the W. I'll be more impressed if they can do it against Utah or Boston, but I'm happy the bleeding has (temporarliy) stopped.
where was lee in the 4th?? and the announcer said zekes name so fast it was almost easy to miss his name but with all the boos and everyone listening intently it was easy...im glad we finnaly won but zeke still sucks
Geez, what does this say about Chicago?
The Bulls are perennially slow starters, but how long does Paxson wait this out before he takes some sort of action?
If he wasn't interested in Kobe before, will he change his mind?
I think the chickens are coming home to roost for the Bulls. I always thought this is was the most overrated and (over-hyped by ESPN and its clones) teams in the NBA over the past few years. I think they (until this year) played excellent team defense and shared the ball- textbook high school playbook stuff. But the NBA is about talent, and Star-Power that rises to the top to carry a team deep into the playoffs.they have no All-Stars, no low post threat and no go-to guys when they have to have a basket. They have been a good jump-shooting team which usually gets them to the second round of the playoffs, but teams with more talent beat them. Paxon knew this much which was why they talked to the Lakers about Kobe. I also knew they were going to have Salary Cap problems because they had all of their players coming up for extensions, and they couldn't sign everyone. The media made Paxon a genius for using Knicks 2 draft picks for Tyrus Thomas and Noah; those 2 are career bench players.Think they couldn't use Curry's 21 and 8? Signing Heinrich and Nocioni and dissing Gordon and Deng was a bad move on many levels. It sent the wrong message to those two, especially with the Kobe rumors. On the flip side, Paxon paid 60 mil for the 2004 Ben Wallace but got the 2012 Ben Wallace instead (except for his poor attitude). Throw in Skiles' "little Napoleon" coaching style and this is a recipe for disaster. They still have not played many of the good teams in the NBA yet. They have no chance of overtaking Boston, Detroit, and now Orlando in the East. I give them another 10-15 games before that bandwagon overturns for good.
I'd like to relish like steve in the Bulls woes for a change. Curry and Chandler would be a good front court. They actually compliment each other. The Bulls use the CBA and open market to their advantage to low ball players compared to the salary's of their peers. I hope they lose Gordon or Deng as well.
As for these Knicks. They're still learning and it shows when they play other inexperienced teams. That's not a bad thing either. I don't mind a loss, I just mind lack of effort. I agree with Don, Balkman needs to be out there. Even if he made a young guy mistake with that foul in the 4th (3pt). But Isiah benched him so he could regret it and not do it again when it could cost us a game.
Good win.
I was encouraged by the win today. this is a game that the knicks could have found a way to lose. I was also encouraged by Marbury's play. He actually seemed like he wanted to be there. Big-ups should also go to the team as a whole for sticking it out down the stretch. I was not encouraged by the sloppy front court play. I am really tired of Curry doing the ''turn and flip'' oppossed to going strong. Also would like to see more plays for Z-BO oppossed to the elbow 1 on 1 move then jumper I like Balkman's tenacity, but think he can be too overzealous. I think that !efferies is looking better, although still not a full MLE type talent. Q, had an off day shooting, but was impressive in other phases. Is Lee still hurting from last year? I ask because he seems a step slower, and not as quick off his feet.

they won because of balkman's presence, dengs absence, and the bulls horrid shooting. if the bulls hit a couple of those wide open shots in the 4th, your looking at el major foldo, and major fan depression. what u see w lee is what u get. he can't shoot, and they should try to package him w star-jerk. I know this is heresy, but they really don't need lee, they are stuck w z-bo, and lee's trade value is high.
jeffries has actually contributed something for 2 games in a row, which is a shocker, tho the guy still thinks he's a two sometimes. and crawford decided to d-up for a change. jamal needs to penetrate more to get his rythym going.
anyway, most importantly, they played hard.
I find myself hating the team, rooting for them to lose, and waiting for Dolan to finally do the right thing. (Any combination of selling the team, firing Isiah, cutting Marbury, or all of the above).
I cannot stand any of them and despite calls and emails to the Garden, they persist on lying to us about the team. Isiah tells us many coaches have failed. However, Riley, JVG, even Pittino did not fail, they just didn't win a Championship. At least the team competed. And Dolan falls to recognize that under Isiah, the team is a laughing stock, the big joke of the NBA, and the Garden is a boring, terrible place to watch a game.
The Knicks get Utah on Monday and Boston on Thursday. Most likely, they will be 3-10.
Don't worry David.
We hate you too.
What do you people want more:
Knicks win 36 games, don't make the playoffs, and finish with a pick 10-12.
or Knicks win 23 games and finish with a top 5 pick.
Root for the Knicks to lose. They're not gonna make the playoffs and the more losing, better chance that punk Isiah is gone!
Peace out, homies!!!
emac2, your posts are brilliant! Once you get into high school, you will learn how to write in a way that enlightens and adds value, not just to hear yourself talk.
David...People usually speak to hear themselves, no one writes to hear themselves, but I guess you dropped put of pre-k.
Enough of that, I was very impressed by Steph's performance and even more impressed at how well he's handled the booing and the benching, although he was wrong for leaving the team, Steph has always been honest with us fans, with himself, with his teammates and with his emotions.
Anyone who knows about Steph knows he's a very sensitive person but very open and honest with his sensitivity, and his coach knew that and still put him on the bench. Now this same coach says it's too early to panick, but what did he do.
Mardy Collins is another victim in all this mess because he was thrown into the middle of a hostile stuation and his confidence might be severly damaged.
I will ride with my team til the end but I'm very dissapointed in the start, but let's wait and see , it's still too early. I will enjoy this win, it's been a long time.
Jeff,
Isiah is not the problem. But losing streaks can get you fired. I honestly think this team would be better off dumping Marbury at the end of the season unless we can get Davis/Williams from Miami.
However, Jeff, I think you pointed out to me previously that Berman was writing kind words to Marbury now. I read his comments today, he is a sucker for sure.
But I read a comment from a poster named Jeff that was funny as hell. Good on you. Lighten up on Isiah and the Knciks. Let the recoed and lack of progress get him fired.
Alan said prior to the season we just need to play this year out adjust over the summer. I am one of many who had a knee jerk reaction to our start and forgot that.
Ride it out. Good or Bad. We can dump some contracts, make some trades, and draft another stud in the off-season.
i cant bring myself to agree that balkman had very much to do with the win yesterday...he was sloppy and he always is. I like his energy and his defense but he has to learn to give up the ball and make a clean play. The guy fouls every two seconds he fouled out the other night in 12 minutes which is equivelant to dlees playing time the other ngiht, anyone know why he was pulled out it looked like he was asking the bench to be subbed i saw him go over and wait for balkman to coem back in...weird...also does anyone else wonder why malik doesnt play more.
If Balkman could learn to shoot that Bruce Bowen corner 3...
Of course, he'd need teammates who could find him.
An ugly win is still a win - I understand the impulse to cheer for losses (better pick, chance of Isiah being canned) but as a fan (or a sucker :-) ), I just can't do it.
Still, wins against Utah and Boston would look a lot better then pulling out the battle of the bottom feeders.
i've done a lot of kvetching here, so instead i will muse about my near and long-term thinking about this team...
NEAR-TERM
i suspect that we are roughly stuck with what we've got. including DOLAN and ISIAH-BITCH. STAR-JERK is untradeable, unless packaged with LEE (a move i have advocated in this blog before,). Z-BO isn't going anywhere until his reputation from the portland days is repaired, and that will take at least a full year. Q is also untradeable, other than as a thrown-in for salary cap needs. the same goes for JAMAL, who, the more he plays the greater an enigma he becomes. i just don't see a big market out there for a soft two-guard shooting under career 40%/ f.g. CURRY is not Going to be traded, and shouldn't be. for all of ihs deficiencies, few centers can produce his numbers, and he is still very young. he needs better coaching that what AGUIRE has to offer. EWING could be helpful with him.
as for the bench; LEE is terrific, but his upside is limited, as he will never be a good shooter, and his hops will disappear in time. his smarts, size and heart will lead to a good long career, but never stardom. good for 20-25 minute, great for immediate trade value. i would n't give up on NATE, he will improve defensively, and there is no reason why he can't become a serious 3 point threat. another 20-25 minute guy, assuming he learns to stop one-guards and he can shoot 40% from the arc. it's possible. BALKMAN is the jewel in the system, the knicks' JOBA. he is an athletic freak, like a smaller RODMAN, less size, more skill potential. this guy would be a supertar on pheonix. were the knicks to have a real pg, and a consistant two, BALKMAN would be the perfect complement up front with CURRY and Z-BO. JEFFRIES has physical skills and is a good stop defender, but he seems to have low (bb) iq. plus he is one of the great brick layers in the league. one of ISIAH-BITCHS' worst signings, it would be a blessing if another team wanted him.
so, near-term, we need to make the best of what we can out of the roster we have. clearly this is a flawed team, physically and emotionally. still, teams with lesser talent that hated each other even more, have been able to succeed. they need to focus on one thing only, and that is winning as a team everytime they take the floor. let them hate each other the rest of the day, if they play with intensity and desire to win, they will be able to compete every game.
LONG-TERM
changes need to be made, there is no chance of long-term success given the current cast. i see little chance that DOLAN will cede control of the team. more likely you will see him stumble into a better management situation (SATHER has established a credible system with the rangers). ISIAH-BITCH is clearly over his head as a coach and a corporate leader (president? you've got to be kidding me). the knicks won't make the playoffs this season, and major management changes will ensue. pray for the best.
what seems certain is that the two headed STARZEKEJERK monster will be gone by next year, and a point guard will be drafted. another smart move would be to bring in an assasin with range to start alongside CURRY, Z-BO, BALKMAN and whatever true point guard veteran/rookie combination they can come up with. it will probably take getting lucky with a point guard in the draft, picking up a veteran true point guard, and giving up LEE in a trade for a 2/3 sharpshooter, but if that is all it takes to get this team back to contending deep into the playoffs, it is a small price to pay
.
How 'bout Jeffries? He looks like a factor on D.
1 in a row...
"Celebrity row
"John McEnroe, rapper Mike D (Beastie Boys) and comedian Ray Romano were on celebrity row. Wonder how Raymond, who was a Newsday columnist, would have covered the current Knicks?"
With more humor, insight, and general ability that Newsday's current Knicks beat writer?
This is only a guess...but I figure that Dolan despises the NY Sports Media so much that what ever they write in favor of (firing Isiah), he will do the opposite.
If this is true---the pit bull looking dogs like Lupica,Greenberg,Lawrence and the rest---are wasting their time writing what they do. Although they will continue, b/c obviously this is what their bosses desires or wants--- they pay these dogs to write these lies and rumors.
Another thing, if there's a person out there aspiring to replace Isiah if and when he's fired, then this person like Chris Mullen or whoever, should not allow or let their intentions known to the MSM, NYMSM, and it gets to the ears or eyes of Dolan. Because Dolan will do the opposite.
And I congratulate and encourage James Dolan to keep up the good work, what he’s doing is giving the dogs no bark. They are in fact, as they write their garbageness, just like toothless dogs that have a lot of bark, but no bite. Discerning readers are no longer fooled and mislead by their inane inks. Bring it on; they’re doing nothing but wasting their time. It makes me happy to see them not getting what they want!!!
Dolan would not make these NY Press Dogs happy by satisfying their desires. Making them win! James Dolan stays in control by not relenting to the NY Media; so by doing that, Dolan remains in control. He knows the sports reporters don’t like him. So I guess it pleases him to do the opposite of their desires. And to me that’s a good thing.
What James Dolan is in effect doing is not giving these writers a credible voice to stand on. How long have they been bashing IT, Dolan, this Knicks team? Forever, right? And where have it gotten them?
So far no where, and to me, that’s good sports related news worth reading.
……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….
To see how bias and hateful these dogs who cover the Knicks… we don’t have to look that far for factual knowledge in their garbageness reporting.
A quick comparison we can see the difference:
After the Nets beat Sonics, Nets beat writer Julian Garcia opened up her article, “On Road, Nets Hot Stuff” with this paragraph: SEATTLE --- “Just days removed from a six-game losing streak, it doesn't matter what kind of wins the Nets get, as long as they get them.”
Wow!!! Did you read that? This NY Sports News writer is in fact not belittling the Nets win with a sarcastic or cynical remark---but instead mentioning any win is a good win.
Now take this lifetime resident dog in Anti’s Doghouse, Mike Lupica’s article on Sunday 11/25/07,”If Isiah knows hoops, Knicks’ fans know better”:“The Chicago Bulls did not have Luol Deng, a player good enough to be in trade talks about Kobe Bryant, at the Garden yesterday. Ben Gordon, somebody who usually kills the Knicks, at the Garden and everywhere else, combined with Kirk Hinrich to shoot 9-for-35 Saturday. Somehow the Bulls overcame all that and tied the Knicks at 75-75 in the fourth quarter before missing the last eight shots they looked at. You want to know who the Knicks can beat right now? That's who.”
Now why not write what Julian wrote about her team the Nets, that every win is a good win?
Answer: This dog Mike Lupica and Head Woofer in Anti’s Doghouse is incapable of saying anything positive regarding the Knicks. That's why.
What this Mike “pit bull” Lupica is inking is inserting a negative (Knicks beating an awful team), instead of emphasizing the positive (Knicks beat an awful team). Any win is a good win, right? In Lupica eyes, any win the Knicks win, is not good in his eyes. And he thinks he has the audacity to speak for us true Knicks’ fans when he’s write in such a way that shows he doesn’t speak for us true Knicks' fans.
This toothless dog has lost his bite, therefore he’s inane, and forever a member of the Dog Pack and rightfully belong in my Doghouse, that includes these other NY Sports Writers as well: Mitch “the grill” Lawrence, NY Post vulture looking, Jay Greenberg, Peter “the liar” Vecsey, Frank “not so credible” Isola.
Anti-NYSportsNews is my name, and you can find me at my home base here and at the world wide web Knicks' blog headquaters:

in response to the last blog post, by Anti-NYSportsNews, it seems that you think there is no place for critical reporting in the media. therefore, by extension, you would also agree that the press, at the time our forefathers stood up to colonist england, had no business questioning the legitimacy of the royalist oppressors? and the press who questioned our illegal and morally indefensible conduct in vietnam had no business doing so? i suppose woodward and bernstein had a lot of nerve for follwing the lead of deep throat too? finally, should the press have stood by (hmm...come to think of it, that is exactly what the press did do for the first 3 years) while our current administration blatantly lied about their real motivations for invading iraq? and wasn't it a shame how the press exposed the truth about the lying and ineptitude of out goverment during the hurricane that destoyed new orleans?
i for one, am grateful when the fourth estate actually does their job, and serves the people in their quest for answers. if the ny sports reporting scene is too much of a downer for you, perhaps you should stick with usa-today, they play it very safe over there.
sec11rowH,
What is my name, buddy? Anti-NYSportsNews, right?
Not Anti-NYNews or and Anti-NYNewspaperNews, BUT---Anti-NYSportsNews read on my blog site my origin, ok.
There you will find these writers in my Doghouse!!!
"serves the people in their quest for answers."
Don't make me laugh---these NY Sports writers that cover the Knicks are not giving answers to nothing but to show that they are bias and seeks to gets people fired, and their writing is full of their own opinions that are sarcastic, lies, misleading, rumor filled, and cynical hyperbole.
I hope you are not fooled by these dogs. If you are, find a clue. Read between the lines----I'm sure you are not comparing the noteworthy writing toy mentioned above to the garbageness that is writing that covering my Knicks' team.
