Probably No Marbury Tonight

Stephon Marbury has had an excuse for his lack of focus lately. Eddy Curry? None.

The Knicks will probably go without him tonight against the Dallas Mavericks. I could give you a little preview, consider matchups (who is going to guard Dirk?) and discuss how Isiah Thomas needs to get Zach Randolph going early in this game and get him in the right frame of mind quickly because he's losing him . . .

But . .

I just keep going back to my previous blog and the contents within. The philosophy that things aren't as bad as they seem, because everyone else in the East has double-digit losses, too. That hole in the Ozone layer, you know, it's not that bad if you compare it to the size of the earth. Doomsday is still at least 100 years away, we've got time.

I'll check in tonight pregame. Try to give you guys what you deserve. I need a mulligan this morning.

At this point it appears that the only way this team can win a game is if the opposition plays to their level.
The Knicks have to hope that Dallas, on the road, shoots like 25 or 30% from the floor. Then they might sneak one.

Alan, I too find the Knicks logic difficult to understand. Because the rest of the East is bad, then its okay to also be bad? Shouldn't we aspire to be champions? It is clear that the franchise is really not as important to Dolan and Isiah as it is to the fans. And if that's the case, what truly is the point in rooting for them? Reading about them in the papers? Watching the games? Going to the games?

Probably no point at all.

I bleed orange and blue
hate our team now
with old memories
and none new
still I bleed our Orange and Blue
Our coach is corrupt
a point guard we cant trust
and the owner
Oh the owner doesnt give a F*ck!
still tears we shed
yells we scream
heartbroken for too long it seems
one day when we lay to bed
and champions we are once more
Isiah, Steph and dolan.....
will be long gone.

Alan,

This post really nails it. There's really nothing original that can be said about the Knicks right now. I haven't felt this lost since the Eisley, Anderson, Weatherspoon era.

The only thing to follow is the losses: hopefully they'll add up to a number big enough to deliver Isiah's ouster and enough ping-pong balls to land Derrick Rose.

Every win, every Jamal Crawford 4th quarter explosion, every night that Zach plays like an all-star, is another night of false hope.

Maybe it's due to the fact that I have a newborn, and have just moved (The vintage Clyde poster remains intact.), but I'm developing apathy towards this team, the team I've lived and died with for the past 30+ years. The opposite of love isn't hate; it's apathy.
I see no relief in sight, not till daddy Dolan takes the keys to the car away from the dunce.

Hi Alan.

Curry... Maybe a telling thing is that I had to drop him from my Fantasy roster for BRENDAN HAYWOOD who will help me much more.

Sad, isn't it?

I like the big fella, but he seems like nothing more than a role player. It's frustrating, because I think he can be so much more, but I don't see the Eye of the Tiger from him.

Maybe we can get him to watch a bunch of Rocky movies...

Where are all those fixers who said how good this team would be this year?
It's time to take out the trash, but recycling is out of the question in New York.
Could we please trade Curry or Randolph (either or)and get a real small forward who plays tough on both sides of the ball.
Could we get a pass first point who will also rebound and defend?
How about a shooting guard who isn't so mild mannered while playing his "Rucker" game?
Or maybe a shot altering big who doesn't need the ball and who wants a rebounding championship?
I'm almost starting to miss Jerome James.

It seems to me that last years' offensive scheme was much better suited for this club than the double low post. Think about it, the coach can't even get guys to cut hard in this offense.

We no longer hit the offensive glass...that was a major strength last year.

We no longer take the defensive rebound and push the ball...that was a major strength of Balkman, Lee, and Nate last year.

A triangle setup combined with motion and cutting and some aggressive pick and rolls might allow for more coverage on the glass, more free cutters in the lane, more coverage on the glass for misses, and more uncontested shots. The stagnant double low post needs to be trashed in favor of a scheme that forces movement

Alan,

What precident is there for the commissioner to step in and take the reigns from Dolan? This is really our only hope. I've never witnessed anything this bad.

OK, BREAKING NEWS!
Now that Cablevision has paid off Anucha Browne Sanders at what MSG says is partially at the request of David Stern [finally!!!!!] what next for the beleagured 'Bockers?

GOOD POINT WANGELOW...

that is why i thought it was not logical to play curry and randolph togther.they both clog the paint and take away room for cutters.i thought when he traded for randolph he would put curry on the trading
block for a possible curry for Kobe trade.

BUT WAIT...THAT MAKES TOO MUCH SENSE.
I.T. WANTS TO KEEP BOTH AND PLAY THEM TOGETHER.

this is resulting in bad chemistry and hurt egos.

CURRY'S REFUSAL TO PLAY ANYTHING CLOSE TO DEFENSE IS
A PROTEST OVER HIS LACK OF TOUCHES ON THE OFFENSIVE END.

NEW YORK - Madison Square Garden and New York Knicks coach Isiah Thomas have settled the sexual harassment case brought by a former team executive who was awarded $11.6 million in punitive damages.

Terms of the settlement were not immediately disclosed.

"I am extremely pleased that we have reached a settlement," Anucha Browne Sanders said in a statement.

The deal came as compensatory damages were about to be added and as Browne Sanders was preparing to return to U.S. District Court in Manhattan, where her description of her ordeal with the Knicks exposed the club's tawdry side, from its dysfunctional clubhouse to its star player's sexual exploits with a Knicks intern.

"As I have said before, I am completely innocent," Thomas said. "This decision doesn't change that. However, this is the best course for Madison Square Garden, and I fully support it."

MSG added: "We don't feel any less strongly than we did throughout the entire episode. The outcome was a travesty of justice, and we vehemently disagree with the jury's decision, however, at the strong request of (the NBA commissioner) and in the interest of focusing on basketball, we can all agree that it is time for us to move on and put this issue behind us."
