ESPN says Walsh will sign with Knicks

Fixers, we've reached madness level.

An ESPN report tonight after the Knicks loss to the Nets said that Donnie Walsh will accept a position with the Knicks after the season.

Garden officials remain mum, with "no comment" as the only reply. Walsh's attorney, Steve Kauffman, not only did not return phone calls, he turned off his phone completely.

Good times.

Tune in tomorrow....

i still would've loved to get colangelo. donnie boy hasn't exactly wowed me w/ his moves in indy. name a stud he has drafted since tha start of the decade? but today isn't a day for bashing. we are turning over a new leaf so i won't be negative. hopefully he can work some magic on draft night to get us a PG or C. i won't even say tha name i want...you all know who i have my radar locked & loaded on...

What is the status of Isiah Thomas?

Leave it to the Knicks to take a positive step in a completely backwards-ass, inappropriate way. What is the rush with all this? Why the secrecy? You just set your team back at least 6 years with an atrocious hire, now you're not even going to conduct a legitimate search that includes interviewing more than one candidate? Why not just fire Isiah, put in an interim coach/gm, then do an actual, bonafide search for a replacement in the offseason?

Everyone might be rejoicing right now because Isiah's ouster seems imminent, but I'm not so sure we've got any better because of this.

Everyone is going to say, "well it can't get any worse," but is that what we're aiming for? Of course it can't get any worse, but it doesn't mean now we're going to win a championship. I'm skeptical at best. To me this wreaks of another disaster. What kind of honorable man would want to take a job under these circumstances?

I would have rather seen the Knicks go thru a real process to hire a dude to take out Thomas. But truth be told Dolan only wants a guy in here who will abide by his strange ass rules and do a good job at the same time. Someone who will stay out of the limelight. That fits Donnie, he gets the job done. Remember he has been doin his thang in Indie for 24years, and for the most part they have always been in the playoffs. He did draft Al Harrington, trade for Tinsley in the draft, and get Danny Granger all in playoff years. When the Knicks were a playoff team who did we draft even b4 Thomas. Greg Anthony, Charlie Ward, Hubert Davis, more recent Dontae Jones, John Wallace, Postel, Weis, Frank Williams... I can go on. Dude did a pretty good job with low draft picks and brought in talent via trades. No GM or President is mistake proof. Even Jerry West do your research. I would have rather seen the logo in the front office but do you really think he and Dolan could work together. I doubt it. This is an upgrade over Thomas, cuz Donnie has gotten a team to a championship on his watch.

ESPN works. The hockey writer sleeps.
