isnt it a coincidence that Walsh's deal is only 3 yeras and Isiah has that left also on his contract.....
Party at Hahn's if Zeke gets the axe? I'd fly in for that...
Mr. Hahn probably lives on Long Island.
If you go there if/when Isiah gets canned, you'll miss the parade they'll be throwing in Manhattan.
Myself, I'm going to put down some cardboard on the corner and bust out my old breakdancing moves from 1984.
I like this move with Mr. Walsh taking the helms from IT but i dont like the fact that there might be a possibility of Thomass sticking around as the coach. At best he was a mediocre coach at Indy and he obviously doesnt have the players respect which is what separates good coaches from bad ones. I think the Knicks should think before they proceed, Donnie is a great basketball man but maybe we should seek other options. This team needs to be broken down and rebuilt, bringing in Walsh and keeping IT just seems like Dolan is trying to fix a PR problem, not the Knicks losing problems.
relax everybody, there is no way donnie walsh is hanging his hat (and reputation) on isiah thomas. isiah is gone, perhaps to a scouting role, though i doubt the terms of his contract include such a demotion.
as for the rest of the season, we don;t have to look too far back to know what dolan will do. he will let isiah twist in the wind, just like he did larry brown. frankly, i think i will enjoy the spectacle this time around.
LB twisted in the wind until the orlando predraft camp, even after that because David Stern had to play arbitrator for the dismissal.
what are the chances it gets to that point again?
What goes around, comes around, right Znaky boy...
KNICKDEFENSE:
Read your blog header. Sounds like that came from the heart (as far as the disappointing and disgusting Isiah tenure as Knicks' Commandante in Chief.)
If Walsh is hired and he retains Isiah, then something is terribly wrong with that equation. I sure hope that David Stern does not allow that to happen. Otherwise, it's back to square one when it comes to back-stabbing, finger-pointing, and the likes.
KnicksDefense – please send MapQuest directions to your corner. I’ll bring the champagne.
If Dolan is stupid enough to let Isiah walk back onto the court next season as the coach . . . I have to believe you’ll see a spontaneous uprising . . . and outpouring of anger that will make the booing last season seem like a standing ovation.
It doesn’t matter who you talk to. This city is angry. (Despite the claims of the remaining 2 or 3 – if there are that many – voluble bloggers who still support Isiah. That boat sailed months ago. And it be sinkin’. Ain’t nobody takin’ that cruise anymore.)
So even if season tickets holders are still able to find suckers for their seats (this is New York, after all – there are always going to be 19-thousand some-odd people willing to shell out for a Knicks game. What does Dolan care if most of them are in town for a few days from Ohio?)
And yet, he’ll care when the entire garden rises up and rejects isiah Thomas. Loudly. Emphatically. Unambiguously. It will make the booing hall of fame. Dolan will be forced to make a move . . . if for no other reason than to put Isiah out of his misery. Moreover, Stern isn’t going to stand for nightly demonstrations at such a fever pitch.
And please, I keep reading the same mistake. The Knicks organization does not make money. It is not profitable (even when seats are filled). It posts the highest operating losses in the league every year. This year it will be losses in excess of $50 million. The confusion lies in the Forbes article each year that ranks the Knicks as the most valuable franchise. You can bet it's not due to anything Isiah or Dolan has done. That's mostly a function of owning some pretty hot real estate on 33rd Street, that keeps going up in value.
Walsh + Thomas + The Same Players = losing Season again in 09
I'd be down for a Fixer meet-n-greet when they finally fire Isiah. We could have a party at the Brother Jimmy's across the street from the Garden.
Isiah will most likely become some sort of scout or non coaching role until when he goes he will take some credit that he made a change in the organization. I have feeling that Dolan will leave Isiah as some type of consultant with the team. I can't see the The Bronx old guy keeping Isiah on the court.
******Walsh's Prediction as President*******
Keep Isiah as a scout for talent
Resign Fred Jones to a one year deal
Fire all the teams coaches except Herb Williams
Offer the coaching jobs to a former Knick - Mark Jackson
Trade Curry - will be his biggest mission in the off season
Attempt to trade or buyout Stephon Marbury if not they will wait till he off the books
Trade Crawford & Q - Rich, and Z. Randolph - if unsuccessful this will leave a bad taste in their mouths while they are here
Acquire Ben Gordon through free agency- Another Bull Guard on the Knicks - we keep recycling them
Draft a Point Guard and a Big - DJ Augustine
Trade or buyout most of the bums like Jerome James
Look for the Knicks to push all the rules in NBA financial transactions that are humanly possible
