Get to know D'Antonio...(I know, but it rhymes so go with it)
I had an enjoyable chat with Mike D'Antoni on Thursday as he made the rounds with his celly to have personal chats with the beat writers. First impressions are what they are. I'd rather judge him in January, after a half-season of him dealing with us every single day and three times on game days.
But in the meantime...here's a few clips that offer some background and insight on your new coach, courtesy of the Phoenix Suns.

This is what I meant before.
Peaceman and TAZ are ruining this blog.
TAZ is Peaceman anyway, same person, so why even use 2 handles.
I've seen it before. Peace trashed a few other sites.
That's why he got banned at KnickDefense
When you read the profiles of MD, you have to be encouraged. He has played in the NBA, in the European leagues, has coached on both levels and has won on all levels. He is smart, strategic, likes challenges, and its clear his players really like playing for him and like him personally too.
The combination of Walsh/D'Antoni gives the Knicks a classy, professional, and seasoned management and coaching staff. It might take a couple of years, but this franchise is on its way back.
On another subject, it is clear this great blog has been attacked by trolls and other miscreants. It is my hope that Alan/Newsday can ban these posters so that the forum can get back to being the best Knicks and NBA blog out there.
Hey Alan, do you know of any Draft lottery parties in the city? I really don't want to go to ESPN Zone. : /
Hi Alan, do you know of any Draft lottery parties? I really don't want to go to ESPN Zone. : /
the 2nd video really made me wish we got amare stoudemire along with d'antoni
Draft:
Chad Ford at ESPN says Love from UCLA has already dropped about 13 pounds if a 3 weeks of workouts and building strength and agility. If the lottery goes to percentage, we are at 5 or 6. I think we have to look at Love. Perfect guy for a D'Antoni system, and he's strong, can shoot it and play in the post. A real basketball mind and don't forget the patented outlet pass. Seven seconds or less? With Love pulling down defensive boards and tossing those 3/4 court outlet passes, we're looking at 3 seconds or less.
He is important insurance for big men leaving (Zach or Eddy, or tragically, Lee to sweeten one of those pots), and really knows how to play the game.
Hard to say what else to do at 6. Take a flyer on one of the 6' 10" uber--athletes, Randolph, Jordan, who need to (and may never) learn to play the game? Take the Italian kid? Love may be the choice here, especially with D'Antoni.
Willis, I agree, if the Knicks end up in the sixth spot or lower, Love would be an excellent pick. Right now, I see the top six as follows:
--Rose
--Beasley
--Mayo
--Bayless
--Lopez
--Love
Rose and Beasley are immediate difference makers, the other players should all be good pros and would fit in well with D'Antoni's system.
i'm really curious to see how rose is gonna play in the nba
statistically 14 4 4.aint no damm he is great
he played with way better players than beasley an 4 assist u gonna come up with..
the media an alot of people got him a #1
itz krazy itz like lil wayne dude can't rap but every thinks he the best.lmao
beasley all the way..
stay tuned for more KnowLedge
I'm willing to bet D'Antoni will refer to Donnie as "Mr. Welch" or something like that at some point.
Ok! Let's go! Here we go! Let's go!
