Duhon officially signs and the Summer League roster is released
The Knicks just announced a press conference today to officially announce the Duhon signing. I'll hit you back afterward for some highlights.
In the meanwhile, the 15-man roster was just released. Here's the breakdown.
Knicks property:
Nate Robinson - 4th year, MVP of last year's summer league
Renaldo Balkman - 3rd year, coming off a disappointing sophomore season
Mardy Collins - 3rd year, suddenly buried deep among veteran guards
Wilson Chandler - 2nd year, coming off scary knee sprain after solid finish to season
Danilo Gallinari - Rookie, first look at the sixth overall pick in his North American pro debut
Interesting addition:
Von Wafer, 6-4 G (Portland/Denver last season) - Former Florida State guard originally a second-round pick of the Lakers in 2005 and has bounced around the NBA (Clippers, Nuggets and Trail Blazers) and NBDL ever since.
Others:
Dan Grunfeld, 6-5 G (Stanford) - played in Spain this past season
Antonio Graves 6-2 G (Pittsburgh) - played in CBA this past season
Marcus Hall 6-2 G (Colorado) - undrafted rookie
Delonte Holland 6-7 F (DePaul) - Chandler's college teammate played in Italy
Brandon Hunter 6-7 F (Ohio) - also played in Italy
Antoine Johnson 6-1 G (Albany) - from Berman's alma mater (d'oh!) and played in Turkey
Paul Miller 6-10 F/C (Wichita State) played in Poland and previous Knicks camp invitee
Anthony Roberson 6-2 G (Florida) - played in Israel
Zhang Songtao 6-11 C (China) - dude is listed at 212 lbs.
Here's the schedule. All games will be played at the Cox Pavillion at UNLV and will be televised on MSG Network. Note: the times are Pacific Zone.
Monday, July 14 vs Cleveland, 1 p.m.
Wednesday, July 16 vs. San Antonio, 1 p.m.

Is Dan Grunfeld related to Ernie?
Ernie's son,same game
@ Matt: if we picked up Tim Thomas we have to trade or release Marburry for sure. He trashed him when he left the Knicks and headed out West.
fine by me. all the more reason then to try the trade.
i'm thinking (like NYC 2 Inifinity suggested) that LA might be in the market now for a low post scorer. Throw in Nate to sweeten the deal and draw some crowds, and we get two servicable guys (thomas and mobley) who would be off the books by 2010.
Hey, Alan; why don't you put Ken B.'s blog link in your BLOGROLL column?
I can't believe Newsday has two of the three best hoops reporters in NYC.
Alan did you see Marc Berman's latest swipe at Duhon today?
"We'll get to meet Bulls backup point guard Chris Duhon today at the Garden as he officially signed his contract to become a Knickerbocker. Be still my beating heart."
"Zhang Songtao 6-11 C (China) - dude is listed at 212 lbs."
That's incorrect. His height is actually 212 cm (6'11'') and weight 115 kg, which would put him at 253lbs.
Hey Alan, I finally found the best on the latest Knick news and hard to find info. Great post ... keep up the good work!
Lil' Nate's gonna play in the girls' junior varsity summer league.
That loop is about Lil' Nate's speed.
And Randi Morris is no more on the girls' junior-varsity summer league roster.
In short, Randi failed. As predicted more than a year ago on this blog. By a writer. That the second-rate hockey scribe chose to bounce from the site.
To better bond with the Possettes in the 'Hood.
Von Wafer, 6-4 G (Portland/Denver last season) - Former Florida State guard originally a second-round pick of the Lakers in 2005 and has bounced around the NBA (Clippers, Nuggets and Trail Blazers) and NBDL ever since.
I hope I read that correct! Von Wafer torched us for 40 points last summer .....this could be a surprize pick up that would thrive in
D'Antoni's system! This Kid can fire the Rock!!!!! WOW..all I can say is I'm excited!
Glad to see Dan Grunfelds's name! Thanks Alan!

Al,
Yeah, sounds great, but when will nate, zach & steph be ex-knicks?
David Lee has good value now, better trade him over the summer before his value drops.
Alan & Knick Nation,
Zach Randolph to the Clippers for Cuttino Mobley & Tim Thomas?
Clippers need a scoring power forward & the Knicks get two guys with 1 year left on their deals.
plus Cuttino Mobley & Tim Thomas would probably florish in coach d's system. They both can play multiple positions.
We are just looking for salary cap relief, and getting rid of a guy who is a bad example for the young players. The Clippers are a wounded team right now, Donnie lets make a deal !!!!!!!!
wow von wafer huh? i remember this guy. all he knows is scoring and nothing else. thats why hes been bounced around the league. interesting. i've seen him light it up before in one of them nuggets blowout games.
what happenned to that jordan kid who played pg from marist ? he had a jason williams game.
Ed,
Jared Jordan is playing with the Phoenix Suns summer league team in Las Vegas. Check out the rosters at the following links:

all this "trade nate" talk needs to stop. what are you a fool? have you watched the knicks ever - he is the catalyst for everything good that happens on the court for us. plus he is entering just his 4th season. his game is sick; the guy can penetrate on anyone, hit the three ball, and his passing/ court awareness is improving. if we trade him we'll regret it
