Mike D'Antoni was a guest on the MSG broadcast of the Knicks 85-80 win over the Phoenix Suns. For those of you who haven't seen it, D'Antoni talked at length about Eddy Curry, whom he plans to have dinner with tomorrow night.
D'Antoni joked on the air that they'll be having salads, but it was more D'Antoni referring to the countless big meals he's enjoyed while meeting with the veterans and not expressing concern for Curry's heft and diet. The other day Mike rubbed his stomach and said these dinner meetings weren't good for his waistline.
As for the concern about Eddy Curry's waistline after coming off minor knee surgery, a player (not on the Knicks) who is in Vegas right now and has seen Eddy says he looked like he lost weight, not gained. Starberman says someone told him Curry looks fat and is trying to hide it from everyone. Whatever. I know he's working at Tim Grover's place in Chicago this summer. It's on Grover if Curry shows up in bad shape.
We won't really know until training camp because Curry arrived after the writers left and wasn't at the gym for today's game for the MSG cameras to catch him. Let's remember this, Curry claimed at the start of last season's camp to be 20 pounds lighter. We don't know anything until we see him play or force him on a scale.
I would expect Curry to show up for training camp in good shape because D'Antoni has made it clear he's very much in the plans.
"He's going to be a big key for us next year," D'Antoni said on the air today. "That's no secret, I think everybody knows it. Potentially, he should be one of the best big men in the league. We'll try to get there together."
Jerome James is also in town....I'm tossin' the keys on the table. Insert your best next sentence here.
Wilson Chandler had 31 in the win. Kid's showing a great deal of confidence.

As always Alan, I love your blog!!!
Jerome "Jessy" James is robbing the Knicks in a big way. But, If you want to get JJ to rebound -- all you have to do is tie a Big Mac or Whopper to the ball each time you throw it up and then watch him devour everything in sight.
What was with the scorer in today's game, home-town officiating? He cheated the Knicks out of about ten points. Often when the Knicks scored, he did not add the basket or he added only two to some three-point shots, even those that were well beyond the line. If you have it on tape, take a look.
how about these two trades tracy mcgrady and steve novak for marbury expiring contract david lee and a future 2 round pick. this would be a great trade for both teams. i think houston would go for it considering that yao ming and tracy mcgrady can"t stay healthy for a whole season and it gives them much needed cap relief. The knicks greatest benefit would be getting rid of marbury and getting back a true shooting guard with all-star credentials.jamal crawford would come off the bench where he need to be anyway.
Another trade i would consider would be sending zach randolph and nate robinson or renaldo balkman to the nuggets for kenyon martin and linas kleiza or we can replace zach with lazy ass eddy curry and malik rose
starting lineup would be
chris duhon
tracy mcgrady
wilson chandler
kenyon martin
eddy curry
Guys, got to go back to the James-Curry nicknames, you are slaying me. I don't usually use the text acronyms (generally it takes me a while to figure out what they mean) but,
LOL, LMAO - I literally did just that.
What a fun medium this is, and how good it is to have contributors that are combining the wit and the logic in their comments. I am happily another nerd on a blog with this crew and thanks to Alan for running the point so effectively.
Wilson Chandler sure looked good today. This kid has serious upside. Watch out or you'll get Chilled.
Check this out Walsh isnt as dumb as we might have suspected... Dude is on his game, Clips wanted to bleed us dry...
"I have learned that the Clippers' offer to the Knicks for Zach Randolph last week was much more audacious than first suspected," reports Ian Thomsen of Sports Illustrated.
"In addition to Randolph, they wanted the Knicks to send them a first-round pick and $3 million in exchange for Brevin Knight. The Knicks said no."

Will "the thrill" Chandler is the truth
i think he has a good chance to be allstar
if he keeps improving his game
lets keep curry away from Chinese Buffet Table..LOL
i hope he has lost weight but i doubt it
they might have to play zach at the 5
if curry is not in shape
@The Kid

if that is true then walsh did a good job
The Clips tried to punk us
James-Curry nicknames....H and D ......they stood in front of the Hollywood sign and it just said H D!
@ The Kid - Good post!

i mean think about it the man has a famous blend of caribbean spices in his name for cryin out loud....it's almost mandatory that he walk around at no less than 3 bills.
Jerome James is in town...and this just in, every dining establishment on the Las Vegas strip is shut down until further notice.
Studs: Jerryd Bayless has been the best player to put on a Summer League jersey. He finished with 29 points and 6 rebounds while shooting 8-15 from the field and 13-16 from the line. Bayless is such a skilled offensive player – he’s so versatile, that it’s hard to figure out a way to stop him. His ability to get to the rim will take him far in the NBA.
@ Cooley....This Guy is going to collect splinters? I'll ask Bronxboy and the Force MD's if you have
"Pink Eye." ...I'll write you a perscription...free!
He really is the one that got away from the Knicks!
We all Know Franky Ice writes in code.....check out his Headline!

More from "THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY"
Leaving Las Vegas
HOOPSWORLD's coverage of the Las Vegas Summer League will continue through its conclusion on Sunday, with Eric Pincus from LA coming to share his insight on what's going on at UNLV. This writer, however, is headed back to Dallas to sleep for a few days after logging six or seven games a day for eight days straight. Before I take off (literally), here are a couple of observations.
Jerryd Bayless is going to be Rookie of the Year.
Maybe that's an overstatement, as Bayless will have a ton of talent around him and someone like Beasley will put up better numbers on a team that's not as good. In fact, Greg Oden may give Bayless a run for his money right there in the same lineup. That said, Bayless has been hands-down the best floor leader of summer league. Execs and coaches agree that Pritchard really got a steal, as Bayless has averaged 27.7 points per game while shooting 45% and getting to the line 18 times per contest. He's not much of a distance shooter, but this kid can get into the lane and he doesn't shy away from contact. He also does a great job of finishing after being brutalized by sloppy seven-footers.
The best part? After getting iced up, taped, and bandaged he takes the time to come out and sign autographs for the hordes of kids who are looking for any attention they can get from a name player.
He should fit right in with the new breed of classy Blazers.
The NBA Is "We Care" is planing a Global wide trip to provide food to Countrys that have a serious shortage. Many players have been asked to go, But David Stern sent a Request to Donnie Walsh that neither Curry or James accompany the mission.
Walsh replied Why??? Stern stated he wanted to make sure the food got to the designated areas!
RPFLMAO!!!!!!
These Curry James comments are killing me!
@ Alan
Thanks for the shout out to the original cast of fixers.
@ Peaceman
Dude I think Stern should at the least send Jerome James to one of those malnourished 3rd world countries.
You ask me why?
Well the undernourished villagers might mistake him for a large animal, harpoon his ass and eat him. That should replenish that villages, err country's cupboard for about a year. The added benefit is that James is off the Knicks cap since he'll be gone!
I'm playing wait and see on what the future holds for Nilo (danillo).
Certainly better than that lame as Italion Stallion, show Berman has no imagination!
I like willis' comment about the shoot first point gaurds. We have too many of those. This team needs a good mix of players not just shooter but that of course doesn't mean that our non-shooting hustle and rebounding players (balk, lee) get a free pass, they also have to develop their games further if they expect to see sufficient minutes on the squad.
Out like a scout!
Hey as Knick fans we get a free Walking with Dinosaurs show every time we watch the Knicks during the regular season when we see Curry, James, and Z-Bo lumber around!
Eddie Curry will never be an all-star caliber player. He doesn't have the will nor the physical attributes to defend the post. He is a true one dimensional player that only performs on one end. Zeke took a chance with an over weight, heart condition Center and loss.
Jerome James was a waist of money to come here because we acquired the same player in Eddie Curry. Zeke apparently was too late with this blunder with Knicks payroll. He needs to be bought out or has to earn a spot on the team. James still thinks he is a starter. Please.
Gallo looks like he needs a strength and conditioning coach. If he wants to play with wreckless abandon then he better bulk up and look buff to take it to the hole. He looks like a two guard of the future at this point. He still reminds me of a poor mans Bruce Bowen.
* We still need a defensive center and Jared Jefferies ain't the guy. We need someone who can play at both ends and deliver. Since Ewing left we have failed to acquire a true defensive center. The closet guy I can think that would fit defense first is Samuel Dalembert or Marcus Camby.
Or Theo Ratliff.........
RE: Jerome James nickname.
I don't know if this one has already been done but you know how Lebron is King James? Well, I call JJ "Burger King James" for obvious reasons. You know its sad if he was a somewhat productive player, he could actually endorse Burger King.
