Live from Philly with B.T. tonight at 11 p.m.

So the way I hear it, Mike D'Antoni was on the team bus when a team official informed him that the Phillies championship parade was taking place tomorrow.

"Are you f---ing kidding me?" D'Antoni replied.

Uh oh. If the Philadelphia Inquirer finds out about this, Phillies fans are gonna be furious, man.

BThedshot.jpgAnyway, to discuss this and other things Knicks, longtime and loyal Fixer Brandon Tierney has invited us onto his show on ESPN Radio tonight after the Rangers game. BT (that handsome devil pictured to the left) always brings the energy and passion to Knick-related discussions and he promotes the Fix regularly on his show. That's why we gotsta reciprocate, Fixers.

Reciprocate!

'course the Fix gets no love on SNY, tho....hmmm.

Bee Tee is a bit of a homer but he's a diehard Knicks fan.

Your an idiot for posting what D'Antoni supposedly said about the Parade, how do we know this is true? And do you wanna get our Coach killed? Philly fans are nutcases they will kill someone for stuff like that, are you freaking out of your mind, you dipshit!

Can't you idiots just keep your mouths shut for once, do you have to print everything. D'Antoni and Walsh are trying to change things around here, you guys are so willing to throw them under the bus for anything they say or do. Nice going, your pukes are never happy to have a anything without tearing it apart, becuz your lives are so pathetic.

bruce, dude, you need to laugh more.

"BT (that handsome devil pictured to the left) always brings the energy and passion to Knick-related discussions ..."

Hahn,

Why don't you and Tierney just get a room? Really, it's getting embarrassing to read your man-crush stuff about this guy.

My stomach ain't that strong.

What's up with benching Marbury? You'd think the Knicks would want to bring up his trade value and he can help the team win - until he is traded or his contract expires.

Marbury came into this season in shape and cooperative. He is still one of the better players on the team. If he is disruptive, fire him. But unless that happens -- why pay him $22 Million to watch the game and make fans pay to see him sit?
I can understand that Curry is out of shape -- so sit him. But so is Galinaro - so why play him?

Between Jerome James, Eddie Curry and Stephon Marbury -- the Knicks have the highest-paid bench warmers in sports!

The Marbury situation is typical of the Knicks loser ownership attitude: Get even rather than make your team better. Pay for your revenge and mistakes by raising cable rates - it is a bottom-less cash cow. Please grow up Baby James Dolan!

lol, don't you know it's Mike "Ftherestgotcensored Bomb" D'Antoni?

Alan, please get a moderator for this forum. This place is a toilet. Pre-approve messages, delete the garbage and ban the wackos, please.

Dave

Oh my god, I heard a naughty word. My little ears will be forever dirty.

Grow up, just because you raise kids doesn't make you one

or in your language Goo Goo frickin Ga ga

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Also, Is it really insulting to be surprised by a parade. He didn't say F-ck The Phillies or anything.

It's good to know our coach has some balls with Marbury. If Marbury wants out then accept less money. We fired Larry Brown with Nba and college champonships over this chump Steph after he mailed it in all year.

It's time for STeph to share in the misery he creates. Sorry. You should dribble less. Steph couldn't make the team for Mike eight years ago either in Phoenix, so what's the surprise

Alan,
In the past 2 days you have shaken my confidence of your blogs. All summer you and the rest of the NY media (outside of Berman) talked of how much of a pariah Marbury is to the locker room. Then on the night Mike D'Antoni may or may not have called some fans "a$$holes" for chanting to bring Marbury to the floor you write a blog about that??! Even if he did call those fans "a$$holes" the NY media should support D'Antoni as a fiery coach who stands for what he and other New Yorkers believe in. Its called Integrity! You accomplish things without giving up who you are and what you believe in. Marbury would be sitting on the bench if this was the 1994 team (I'm not reminiscing, I promise). Those people are a$$holes, its a disgrace to NY and the Knicks to play Marbury. Viva D'Antoni!
Marbury is a cancer to the team and a disgrace to any part of what the word "TEAM" actually means. He plays for himself, its that simple, he doesnt care about anyone else. So this cancer has 1 year left on his contract and just because Isiah gives him a giant contract we should play him during the first year of rebuilding??? Let the young guys play so that next year they'll play better together. Its a rebuilding phase! You guys in the media berate the GMs year after year about how NY likes to spend and does not rebuild and when they actually attempt to rebuild without spending you make a fuss about it. For shame NY media! And shame on you Hahn for your blog yesterday and today.

Can we moderate a bit? If D'Antoni dropped the F bomb, it won't go unnoticed. However, I can't believe how worked up people are. Alan reported it and, if D'Antoni was speaking to the crowd, he should apologize. Beyond that, let it go!

stephon marbury is good at basketball. it is sunny outside. basketballs are orange.my cousin plays soccer. i like soda.

applaud the benching but if you ain't gonna play him, let him go. kids stubborn. buy out---think not.

@ Alan - agree w/ DTR. It is definitely time to moderate again as the TROLLS have really begun to come out of the woodwork now.

This WAS the best blog going, but it slowly turning in the "toilet" that DTR describes. Get control now or enjoy "Starberman's trash - Part Duh".

Keepin' it Old School...

I just posted w/out an email...that's a problem. You should start there and require it...it's the easiest way to ban the cowards that post under Anonymous and plenty of other stupid names to start their racist, sexist, homophobic stupid sh*t that has no place on a sports blog.

Clean it Up!!

The key question about Marbury is this: what have the Knicks won WITH him logging heavy minutes? His strengths (what his defenders claim make him the most "talented" Knick) are all off the bounce, break down stuff - hesitation dribbles, drives to the hoop, kick-outs, etc. Stuff that gets you to the lottery, and nothing this team needs. I've been ripping Walsh all along for not just buying the guy out - let him get on with whatever career is left to him and turn the page. I admire D'Antoni for thinking longer term and playing the guys he wants to regardless of all the off court noise, either from the front office, the media or the fans.

As for the wackos on this forum - Anonymous is a profoundly disturbed cat who has been posting essentially the same repetitive, deranged and substance-free comments for ages. He has a few hot-button axes to grind that he is seemingly unable to let go of. He doesn't appear to watch or respond to games beyond paraphrasing box scores. His continuing presence here is the on-line equivalent of making eye contact with a crazy person on the street, who then follows you around hurling nonsensical verbal abuse. He was banned last year, but continues to cut and paste his same tired drivel anonymously. I generally find skipping over his garbage the best option. Bruce is just someone in need of a couple of Lunestas.

I can't stand the people questioning why Marbury didn't play. This guy, along with Isiah Thomas, is the face of why the Knicks have been awful recently.

Mike D'Antoni and Donnie Walsh were brought here to give this team a facelift. Part 1 was removing Isiah Thomas, and part 2 is removing Marbury. I don't care if he's still on the team, and I don't care what he's being paid. HE SHOULD NOT PLAY. Putting him in the game only brings back memories of what the Knicks SHOULDN'T be.

I couldn't believe my ears when those "WE WANT STEPH" chants arose on Wednesday? I'm just like D'Antoni, "are you f*cking kidding me?" Seriously, Knick fans, are you? How in the HELL could you wan't Marbury to be playing anymore?

I'm hoping it was just a select few idiots, who may be related to Marbury, who started that chant. MAJOR props to anyone at the Garden who boo'ed out the chants the 2nd time they came around. I swear, if I was there and someone near me started those chants, I would have flipped.

Marc Berman makes me absolutely sick. Anyone read his column this morning? Why is he trying to turn Knick fans against D'Antoni? I know Steph is his boy, and he has always unapologetically championed him, but does he really care more about Steph than the Knicks? More than his profession even? You would think that as a journalist, who isn't supposed to be writing opinion pieces, he would at least offer both sides of the story in his pieces. Sacrificing integrity for Steph? Really? No where today does he mention, in his harangue of D'Antoni and his possible clash with the fans, that it's very possible he was saying 'Are you effing kidding me'? to a questionable call on Mardy Collins, as D'Antoni claims. Absolutely horrible. I'd like to lambast him on the nypost comment section, but don't want to give him the satifsfaction of registering. If anyone has an account, please do so. Not to mention that I certainly applaud D'Antoni if he was cursing at the 'We Want Steph!!' fans. The chant briefly erupted in my section, and was promptly drowned out by boos.

If they aren't going to waive Marbury as you and I both advocated for all summer Pete then why sit him on the bench, making all the stories about Marbury and not the fact that we actually won the game on Wed. Walsh and D"Antoni created this mess for themselves and now have no justifiiable basketball reason to not play him. Can you seriously say Mardy Collins contributes more overall than Marbury in a basketball sense? Since they didn't dump Marbury (or IT for that matter) they have just continued the circus. Supposedly, everyone still on the team was supposed to have a clean slate, Marbury came into camp in shape and outplayed all the other guards over a seven game period, other than Nate, in the pre-season. They should have waived him, but since they didn't I just don't see how they justify not playing him. The fans are going to call for him everytime Mardy commits a turnover, not because they are drunks or stupid, but because they realize he is the better player.

@ Luke, First per mins played Marburry looked much better than both Crawford and Duhon. I'll analyze all of their games for you if you like but my posts are long enough as it is. Everyone who watched and analyzed the Knicks first six preseason games saw how badly Crawford struggled. His last game was great, but over the course of the first six Marbury was better. Duhon was a little below average but again Marbury was playing far less minutes and the team looked better with him on the floor. Duhon has looked solid, but the team collapsing on offense in the 4th quarter can be directly attributable to him. Would Steph have been better, I honestly don't know, but it took Nate coming in and demanding the ball to save that game for us.

I'm not a Marbury fan anymore, but none of these guys have proved they can be winners, and we likely won't win more than 35 games. I understand the point of going forward with guys who are not distractions, but then why keep Marbury dangling. I'm not drinking the kool-aide and thinking we are playing for the championship but if the point is to win games Marbury is the more talented guard. Even though I think he outplayed them in the preseason, I understand the complications with him so I'm not advocating for him to start, or even be the first guard off the bench. But he has to play over Mardy Collins if both are still on the team. I really think that is what got the fans going.

Specifics on the mess. D'Antoni and Walsh created a situation where they waived Ewing, J.r., instead of waiving James. They kept both IT and Marbury around who have dominated the headlines unnecessarily. I'm sure you are well aware of the abundance of players the Knicks have waived in the past that were far less of a distraction than Starbury. The waiving of James would have sent a bigger message to the team than having him sit in uniform on the bench every game (as he did the past two seasons) for no legitimate purpose. It would have said that we are turning the page from our past losers and malcontents wand are going with younger hungrier players. Perfect example of this is Portland. Making people honor their contracts is commendable, but its also old school, is not realistic in today's NBA, and creates "messes" like AI in Philadelphia, Kidd in NJ, Shaq in Miami and Carter in TO. You have to move on for the good of the franchise. How anyone cannot see the mess that is created by keeping IT and Marbury on this team is beyond me? The justification in keeping Marbury, most people thought, would be that Steph's value would have increased by the deadline. Obviously that is not going to happen, so again, what is the point in keeping him other than making this non-story, a feature in the newspapers and a distraction to a team that is already fragile mentally.

And real quick, Marbury is the better passer, shot creator, slasher and shooter than Collins. Collins, when healthy, is the better defender, but Marbury is not terrible on D. He plays lazy, but he has showed flashes of good D in the past. Both are used off the ball when they come in as the ninth man for the most part, and in that situation Marbury gives you much more than Collins. In that 4th quarter, the team looked lost, say what you want about Starbury, when the game slows down, he typically doesn't commit many turnovers and is good at what he does, controlling the ball.

K4l - Why would you think Marbury coming into camp in shape means anything positive ? Shouldnt you question why he hasnt been in shape in past years then ?

How did he outplay the other guards over a 7 game stretch ?

Nate led the team in scoring

Duhon in assists

Crawford averaged more points and assists then Marbury and everyone acted as though the world was ending because he didnt score 20+ a game

So how did marbury outplay them ?

What mes did walsh and D'antoni make ? Oh you mean its a mess that a coach cant pick and choose who he plays ?

Its like the knicks essentially fell out of the nba the past 4 years and are now getting back in it .The fans have picked up just as many bad habits as the players . A team doesnt like a player so they should just pay him to leave ? well if thats the case wouldnt there be a ton of player cut and released last week because there are unwanted high salary players on the end of just about every bench in the league.

Marbury signed a contract with the knicks that doesnt end until July 1st 2009 the knicks shouldnt have to release him and pay him simply because he is not in their future plans. A nba contract does not guarantee minutes .

Has everyone seen the back page of the Post?

Disgusting.

Bermanturdpieceofshitt is trying to have the fans turn on Mike D'Antoni because he benched his GF. Pathetic.

Knicks4Life - I think part of it is that Walsh and D'Antoni aren't on the same page here. I think D'Antoni would have waived Marbury the day he was hired and doesn't want him around any more than he did in Phoenix. The idea that deadwood must be kept around at all costs is a Walsh thing, and as we've seen, can lead to some bad situations. The Isiah incident is a good example - instead of just cutting ties with these symbols of past failures, he keeps them around where they can continue to embarrass the organization. I also think the clean slate is strictly a Walsh thing too - D'Antoni doesn't seem to interested in "evaluating" what BK James can do. Walsh chooses who is on the team, but D'Antoni decides what to do with them.

Sergio - When Marbury's k finally expires or is bought out, I picture Berman standing on a dark street, a tear running down his chubby cheek and a wilted flower in his hand, watching the truck drive away into the distance.

Damn - that was me above

Berman has indeed done a real hatchet job on D'Antoni and the crowd issue. FOX Sports has picked it up and it's a featured headline on msn.com.

@ pverne - the NY Boast is owned by News Corp (Rupert Murdoch), who owns Fox...so I am not surprised, as they pride themselves on gossip stories and makes something out of nothing.

Bunch of hacks & blowhards...have you read Vescey over the last couple years??

@Old School Oakley - Thanks for the insight. I'm asking myself, "Why do I ever look at the Post?" I rarely do, but sometimes it's like the pull you feel at the site of a bad accident.

I'm going to try to stay away from the Post in the future. Maybe I should join a support group!

Dude, you get plenty of Love on theknicksblog.

Oh, TV you mean. Well, can't help u there!
