The End is Near?

Starberman is reaping the rewards of a loyal relationship with Stephon Marbury. On the day he is to sit down and negotiate his release from the Knicks, he lashed out against just about the entire organization.

Right now I wonder the collective thoughts of Lenny, Larry and Isiah. Perhaps they are all thinking the same thing:

What goes around . . .

We've said this thing is close to coming to an end for too long now to believe anything at this point. I would guess that the Knicks will have nothing to announce today even if a buyout agreement is reached. Marbury would first be placed on waivers and would need to clear the 48 hour window before the buyout takes effect. But this is a complicated situation.

And I just can't see the Knicks letting him go so easily....

You\'re gonna burn in...

Question:

What is Cuttino Mobley's status?

I think that Marc Berman should be bought out at the same time as Marbury. The guy has no value at all as a Knick beat writer, as his job for the past year has been Marbury beat writer/apologist.

This is all Lenny Wilkins, Larry Bown, Isiah Thomas, and Mike D Antonis fault. Why do they always cause problems for Steph? Cant they see that Steph is the NY Knicks? Without Steph nobody would buy a ticket. He is the only winner on the team. That is why he gets paid 22 million dollars. Ask yourself would they pay him 22 million dollars if he was a bad teammate? Would they pay him 22 million dollars if he was not a winner? I bet his next team will be knocking down his door to lead them to a championship and they will now probably be able to sign him to a bargain like 10 mill a year

5 years too late.....tears of joy.

It's 12:30. Is the meeting over yet?

peaceman

why are u copy/pasteing Peter Vecsectommy?
are u desperately trying to changeing the subject dawg?

u have branded our gracious host a racist many times.
u have also cusssed him out many times over.
This are uncalled for.

Why u changeing the subject homey?

btw
marbury is history. his not part of the team.
why even discussed him

The Knicks decided to buy me out for $5 million more than originally agreed under the condition that I supply Dolan's kids with a lifetime supply of Starbury sneakers and that they retire my jersey from the rafters when i retire.

I'm not apologizing for Berman, but it's a classic sports writer tactic too play "good cop" with a player or coach so you get the exclusive interview. Like Berman just did again. That's the only agenda I see... a reporter being overly-friendly with a player so he has the inside scoop.

I'd be shocked if this is completely resolved today.

Hope it does though. There are more pressing concerns that I'm curious about -- What is Mobley's status? How bout Curry? And Jeffries? And is Danillo now definitely out for the season? And with the soon to be open roster spot, do the Knicks sign PE Jr finally or do they need to go get an NBDL shooting guard?(Personally, I'd rather them slide Q to the 2 when needed, and bring in Ewing Jr.)

And how are Nate and Duhon feeling?

Man, we're taking a beating. I think it's time to throw Herb a jersey.

We need shotblocking Matt B. Shotblocking!!

welcome back WILLIS.

unfortunately, according to reports that i am reading, the situation with mobley playing again is not looking optimistic. i think he would have been a perfect fit for this team, especially from a veteran and defensive point of view. the only upside i can see is that if mobley is forced into medical retirement there wil be salary cap benefits.

i find it hard to believe that curry's heart is in better condition than mobley's.

... you have to admit that most of what Marbury says rings TRUE. In the preseason Marbury averaged 20 minutes per game. Unlike Curry and Jerome James he came in shape and ready tomplay in the new system. Also while Crawford and Duhon struggled until the last pre-season game, MArbury was easily the Knicks best guard. THen the season starts and Crawford and Zach are allowed to star (just to increase their trade value), while the ONE guy that they supposedly HAD to trade gets DNP's all season. Since Marbury played barely 30 games last year it's does not sound like a plan to get someone to trade for him. It sounds, like Marbury stated, that the plan was to humiliate hime until he snapped and gave them a reason to void the contract. unfortunately many like to be told who to hate and they look no further

Sec11 - thanks for the info - I'm sorry to hear that Mobley might be done. I was looking forward to Duhon - Mobley playing a little D.

What's up with Nate? Those pulls, like hamstrings, can be nasty

All divorces are ugly. Steph should take a year off for the coast to clear and maybe people will forget about his tenure with the Knicks. If he is bringin in all that money with him he could retire perhaps give some of it to the poor. One thing about Steph is he needs is motivation. Here he was given the keys to the city and failed at delivering a championship but manage to create enemies. He never once said thx to the Knicks for giving me this huge contract and a chance to play in my hometown. He shows no appreciation as if we owe him. He's about me me me me me. Well. Goodbuy Steph....

@ DBB....that may all be true, but the greater truth is that the guy is pure and proven poison, and the team comes first (finally).

karma is a bitch.

@WILLIS....supposedly n8 is playing against portland tomorrow, but i agree, hammy's can be very slow to heal. i'll be at the game, so i should be able to get a pretty good sense of how he is moving. i don't think roger clemens' ever did fully heal over the last 6 or 7 years of his career, but of course there might have been chemical complication factors in his case.

again, karma is a bitch.

DBB - I no doubt that the knicks brass wanted to humiliate him. He's humiliated many of coaches and other personal during his tenure here in the big city, and they probably wanted to give him some of his own medicine.

I can't feel bad for the guy either. Year after year I hear how teammates and coaches all dislike the guy, and after a while one would think they'd all have a reason. Don't forget this is the man who demanded a trade from Garnett lead Timberwolves because he wasn't 'the man'. That sounds like someone who wants stats, not wins.

And SM was never going to get traded, not without bringing back a giant contract or 2. Something Walsh, smartly, would never allow.

People can hate on Marbury all they want (and there's ample justification for the ), but the point here is that management was in the wrong. Two wrongs don't make a right. They lied to the man, telling him he had a fresh slate when it was a done deal he wasn't in any of their plans (until of course Nate gets hurt and Crawford gets traded). I'm just glad this will all be over soon.

@Dark,
I don't think you can judge management as a whole. Here's my take on what's happened. In pre-season Mike D played Steph because he knew/hoped DW could swing a deal for a player of similar contract, like Marion. When that didn't go through, factoring the input form the players who we now know said during the summer they wished him gone, and his passed relationship with other coaches, he chose to make a statement and bench him. That may bring some comments of mistreatment by management, but what we don't is how much it helped Mike D install credibility and trust with the other players. And when you look at how many times SM wasted relationships with teams and coaches, and considering how much money he makes, I wouldn't feel too sorry for the guy.

Hey Steph,

I heard you showed up a half hour late to meet Mr. Walsh. Didn't your fat momma Mabel teach how to be on time??? You are a disgrace and always will be.
