Blogging From The NBA Draft

Here we are in the brave new world of blogging during a sporting event while the sporting event happens. I'll do my best to keep you up to date in between picks and bathroom breaks.

First, rumors. Speculation is growing in the Theater at MSG that the Knicks are trying to do something big. Now Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports -- an excellent, well-sourced reporter who used to toil at the Bergen Record -- has the Knicks and Trail Blazers discussing a trade that would send Zach Randolph and Martell Webster to New York for Steve Francis and Channing Frye. No independent confirmation yet on this end. Just wanted you to know it's out there.

Also according to Woj, the Nets have offered Richard Jefferson, Nenad Krstic, and Jason Collins to the Pacers for Jermaine O'Neal. For that to work, I think the Pacers would have to pull off another deal to get into the first round because they don't have a first-round pick.

Oh, and someone just told me that ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, who has a pipeline to Kobe Bryant, just said on radio or TV or some other form of communication that Jerry Buss lied when he said he and Kobe had a constructive talk recently. The Kobe camp apparently says there is no communication between the two, and not surprisingly, he's still fuming at the Lakers.

That's all for now. Stay tuned and send me your thoughts, comments, criticisms, rumors, etc. I'll address as much as I can.

Good to know High-Character
Man continues to go after Low-Character Boyzzz....
Hide the women and children.

I think Isiah made a good move in trading for Randolph. It's a gamble but it a good gamble to take. One thing I ask Isiah please do not trade anymore #1 draft picks. Lets keep what we have and build a solid foundation. I would love to see Marbury go next.

Another example of Isaiah not knowing what he's doing and trading everything with an upside. We get another thug to go with the "leagues best point guard." He keeps trading all of the young talent for has beens and thugs...should have kept Frye.

Now one calls Rush limburger a recovering Oxcontin drug addict and he's working. Ball players make mistakes and it's always called a character flaw. Most 20 somethings with money make bad decisions, Paris Hilton, Mike Tyson?. NY fans and media say build with youth then call for players like Frye to be dumped after a year or two and coaches when the wins don't come. NY has no patience for a team holding on to expiring contracts for 2 or 3 years down the road. The playoff failures of the Mavs and Suns after their regular season heroics proved that you need a low post scorer to win in the playoffs when defenses tighten. Now the Knicks have two. Curry shot more than 50% and demands double teams. Randoplh is the first consistent 20/10 front court player the Knicks have since Patrick. We regturly fell behind early as teams took away Curry and we relied on jump shoots. When Curry sat there was NO low post presence and the KNicks became a jump shot. With Crawford shooting 30% or sometimes going 0 for 10 before hitting 10 in a row there were a lot of big 2nd half defecits to over come.
With teams focusing on Randoplh and Curry someone is going to get a lot of open shots. The key will be who that player is (Lee, Jefferies, Balkman, Rose?) and whether they can knock them down consistently. That's where Frye will be missed.

Isaiah Thomas has done it again. It was a busy night for the knicks which included some great moves for this franchise. Getting Zach Randolph will create a "beast of a frontline" for the knicks. What a steal, we got a 20 and 10 scorer for very little compared to what we would have given up for Garnett. In addition, Randolph’s numbers are very close to Kevin Garnetts. So what if he has a rap sheet that’s longer than 5th avenue, he plays hard and will produce Big time in the Big Apple. I think that getting Demitris Nichols in the second round was also a steal, this guy led the Big East in scoring at 18.6 pts. Chandler, Fred jones are also good young players. Since the knicks currently have 17 players and are over the player over the maximum by 2. I believe the knicks should look to package a few players like Nate robinson, Morris randolph, and Dickau, to persue Rashard Lewis. That proposed deal might not sound great, but if have a better deal for lewis pleasse post it. Yesssss, the knicks are finally gonna make some noise this year. It depends on team chemistry and no major injuries. Here's my projected Knicks lineup if we land Rashard Lewis.

C- Eddie Curry
F- Zach Randolph
F- Rashard Lewis
G- Jamal Crawford
G- Stephon Marbury

Guarantee playoff bound, and much more…stay tuned for an exciting season of Knick basketball.

Some of you so call Knick fans really kill me. Getting a proven scorer and rebounder like Randolph is a great move; sure he is not a boy scout and he does have some baggage but you take a gamble on him hoping he will mature, he’s only 25 (26 next month) where else are you going to get a 20+/10 player from?
And taking on his salary is no big deal because you got rid of a bad Steve Francis contract, who would you rather have Zach getting 20/10 or paying Francis all of that money to do NOTHING. Also John Ferguson what’s up with your comments “We get another thug to go with the "leagues best point guard." He keeps trading all of the young talent for has beens and thugs...should have kept Frye “

Why do you consider Randolph a has been? Who are the thugs on the Knicks? are you calling Steph a thug? When was he ever in trouble with the law? Like him or hate him he is one of the most charitable players in the NBA.

Doesn't anyone see that another trade is on the way involving Randolph (hopefully)?
Randolph + Crawford + Lee or Balkman gets Garnett.. The money lines up as do the young players Minnesota wants. Curry and Garnett will work...

I'm from Indianapolis. Can we trade you guys Larry Bird for Zeke? I think we'll be calling the Knicks THE BEAST FROM THE EAST!

I hate to see Frye leave, but thank goodness for steve francis' departure. The guy was always hurt, wanting a buyout, and never really wanted to be a Knick... Good riddance. Now, let's get Allan Houston to come back from retirement, at a smaller capacity and role, and we will have a great playoff-bound team.

FIRST TIME WRITER LONG TIME READER. WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE DISLIKE STEPH, HE IS A BALLER, HE COULD BREAK HIS MAN DOWN, HE AS HOP'S HE COULD GUARD A 2 yes he's shorter but his body is build like a tank, he's give back to the people (unlike many, whose in sport and out of sport went last you gave a homeless a egg sandwich)at this stage the way the team is set up why would you want a young baller to run your team, why not star he is mature, still have game, who still could give you 23 and 8 if he want's.we watch him go from #1 option to #2 to curry, we watch him go from the man who have to take the last shot to win the game to turning that duty over to his side kick Jamaal and never complain never call out any of the knick players in public. when the knicks win media go see Curry when the knicks hit a game winner the media go see Jamaal when the knicks run hard and hustle the media go see baulkman and Lee when the knicks lose the media blame it on Steph. My fellow Knicks fans you will never find a bigger ball player in any of our team who love there team like Steph and who want to win one for HIS CITY

You knick whiners. How would you like to root for the Wizards??????

I think this is a great trade for the knicks and an absolute steal! I think the knicks will either get reshard lewis now who probably really wants to come to the knicks now that they have randolph or they will trade randolph and other players for a bigger fish like Garnett or Kobe!

Anyone who didn't like the trade is crazy, randolph is a 20&10 guy plus he's young, more trades are on the way can you say kobe.

"Draft Day" once again Zeke's time to shine! Great draft. Randolph is buckets all day, and Wilson Chandler reminds me alot of Lebron James...not quite as good of course but has the body and similar abilities. Now all Isiah has to do is package "Starbury" aka "basketball cancer" in a trade for Rashard Lewis and you can pencil the Knicks in for the NBA Finals!
