Wages of Wins: The Nets will still stink

Some great analysis on the Wages of Wins blog (one of the many NBA sites in my blogroll where I urge you to go every day) suggests that all the moves the Nets have made this summer have not made them any better. Time will tell if they're correct, but this illustrates that subjective analysis -- such as, "Hey, Eduardo Najera, he's pretty good ..." -- doesn't cut it when grading teams on their offseason additions and subtractions.

I'll let you delve into the piece yourself, but basically with the "wins produced" stat as the guide, Wages of Wins suggests that the six players New Jersey has added this summer -- Najera, Jarvis Hayes, Yi Jianlian, Bobby Simmons, Keyon Dooling, and first-round pick Brook Lopez -- aren't any better at producing wins than the players the Nets have retained. It's a good jumping off point for debate, but there's one glaring omission I'll point out so you know I am awake despite having ingested only two cups of coffee: No mention of Chris Douglas-Roberts, who might have been the steal of the draft.
