Felix Sturm holds on to WBA title

Felix Sturm defended his WBA middleweight title, scoring a unanimous decision over Khoren Gevor in Nuerburg, Germany on Saturday.

The judges scored the bout 115-113 (twice) and 117-111 in favor of Sturm (33-2-1). Sturm, who is determined to rise into elite status in the middleweight class, has won nine straight fights.

Sturm is best known for a losing close unanimous decision in a WBO middleweight title fight to Oscar de la Hoya in 2004. All three judges scored the fight 115-113 in favor of de la Hoya.
