So, now who do you think the Isles will hire?

arbhawks.jpgGreg Logan says the Islanders coaching search has been narrowed to three:

- Former Atlanta coach Bob Hartley

- Former Toronto coach Paul Maurice

- AHL Providence coach Scott Gordon

Which of these three do you think is best for the job? And who do you think will get the job?

And remember, Al Arbour is not an answer.

UPDATE FROM ANTHONY, 10:37 p.m.: Remember, if Hartley or Maurice get the job, I will post four consecutive days of items honoring the Islanders Stanley Cup champions.

If Gordon gets the job, I will not do anything other than point out I predicted weeks ago, when the field was much larger, that an inexpensive and inexperienced coach would be Snow's pick.

Again, I'm not saying it would be bad if Gordon is hired. Just that my hunch is he will hire someone whom he can, ahem, mold.

If I'm wrong, you will have your chance to say I told you so here.

Just let's all keep it clean or your post will be deleted by one of the three of us or Mike Rose, Newsday's Senior Deputy Sports Editor in Charge of Live Chats and Deleting Potty-Mouthed Comments on Blogs.

He does a lot more than that, too. But I think those are his favorite parts of the job.

I could be wrong there, too.

I stick with Hartley, despite the buzz about Gordon. Folks keep overlooking that Bryan Trottier was one of his assistants, so he's got multiple links to the Isles.

Best for the job?
Maurice, only if Sundin comes in the package. (HEY, a guy can dream).
Who will get the job?
Hartley
Done deal from the get go.

Just my opinion, from the same time zone (for a coupla days).

Now, what if Maurice or Hartley gets the job, but fails to sign a contract, and leaves several weeks later? What will you do then, AR?

Don't tell me it can't happen.

I would honor the deal
