Gary Sheffield hit 250,000th home run in baseball history

That's according to amazing research done by baseball.reference.com.

You can read all about that milestone home run, and previous ones, here.

But here are the ones that stood out to me:

First HR: 5/2/1876, Ross Barnes (CHC) off Cherokee Fisher (CIN) in 5th inning
20,000th HR: 5/3/1924, Wally Pipp (NYY) off Joe Martina (WAS) in 8th inning
90,000th HR: 5/22/1966, Ron Swoboda (NYM) off Bobby Bolin (SFG) in 3rd inning
200,000th HR: 6/121999, Paul O'Neill (NYY) off Livan Hernandez (FLA) in 4th inning

Also, how about this:
It took 38 years to go from 50,000 home runs to 150,000 home runs.
It took 22 years to go from 150,000 home runs to 250,000 home runs.

Hmmmmm.
