Bad turn of events for Stony Brook hoops
Almost always the day that the local newspaper prints its college basketball preview issue is a day defined by unbridled promise for each school's season. For fans, students, coaches and school officials, it's a day of hope that maybe this is our year.
Unless your Stony Brook.
On Sunday Newsday printed its college basketball preview issue and FOTFS Marcus Henry wrote a fine feature story about how the school was placing its hope on its new 6-9, 305-pound center Desmond Adedeji.
Which might have been a bad move by the school, because at 6:15 Sunday morning - around the time the Newsday trucks were dropping off the college basketball preview on everyone's doorsteps - Adedeji was pulled over by police on campus for DWI.
Yikes.
