New name for home of Dolphins and UM: LandShark Stadium?

bowl08c2.jpgThe ink might not be dry on the deal, but a source says Dolphin Stadium could soon be renamed LandShark Stadium.

That’s LandShark as in LandShark Lager. It’s likely a short-term branding opportunity, perhaps for one season, but the arrangement would fit with Dolphins owner Stephen Ross’ plan to make the venue an entertaining tropical South Florida experience. LandShark is served at Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville restaurants.

Buffett has been chatting with Ross about a business opportunity. But he wasn’t revealing anything about a business deal when I asked him about it at Monday’s Heat-Atlanta Hawks playoff game.

“You’re going to find out real soon,” Buffett said with a smile. “Real soon. It’s going to be great.”

A press conference to announce the deal could be held next week.

I always will and will continue to call it Joe Robbie

I always will and will continue to call it Joe Robbie

I always will and will continue to call it Joe Robbie

That’s something,That's what I was thinking.Brilliant idea.

For a long time, links of london bracelet and gifts has always been regarded as a pioneer and leader in the industry.

good good study day day up

The new owner is a disgrace. I don't care how much he paid for the team!

Selling the team piece by piece to stars that more then likely knows nothing about football.

They should rename the team to Hollywood Dolphins and the name is Hollywood Stadium where normal people need not come.

They should sell the team to the real fans like in Green Bay,

The only thing the constant changing of the name does is just lose any deep rooted ties to history. When you say Fenway Park, it has meaning. Doesn't matter if the team sucked the last 10 years or not. When you say the Orange Bowl, it has meaning, even if the Dolphins aren't playing there anymore. Now you have this stadium that keeps changing it's name. It's a joke. It's about money. And if you want to give the team a face lift as a new owner, change the uniform, not the name of the stadium.

WHEN I FIRST SAW THIS DEAL COME OVER THE AIRWAYS, I THOUGHT TO MY SELF, JIMMY KEEPS GOING COPORATE AND ALL I COULD THINK OF HIS OVERKILL SONG! JIMMY SEEMS TO BE LIVING THE OVERKILL LIFE NOW! IT'S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT MONEY, HOW MUCH DO YOU NEED TO SPEND! JUST A WORD OF WISDOM TO A GUY WHO DEPENDS ON US FOR HIS GOODLIFE!

$20 to park and you're complaining?!

Come to Foxboro where it's $40 or $50. Then again, that's to see a good team.

Who knows? In 2004, Buffett played Fenway the Sox won it all. Maybe the Fish will have the success that they never had at Joe Robbie Stadium!

"THE JOE"

Dam john i didnt know you've drank gator piss...and also for the sake of integrity can everyone plz calm down wit the rechanging of dolphin stadium to Joe Robbie Stadium...leave stephen ross alone, if u were in his shoes u would do the same thing to make a profit expecially after he got ripped off paying 1.1 billion dollars for a team that went 1-15 the season he bought it...u cant hate on a guy who is trying his best to make the fan experience memorable, especially for kids...keep up the good work ross and GO DOLPHINS!!!!

FUNNYSTUFF Kevin!!

Actually,I'm NOT happy about it @all!!

Well as long as it's named after a beer for ONLY one yr,and goes back to something DOLPHIN related..

Ross should get that fountain of three froloking porpoises from the streets of Long Beach for the front gates,or mezanine!!
Gave me chills during every lap of the IRL race @LongBeach,Ca.. GOFINS!!

I'm tired of all of the name changes for the stadium. Call it whatever you want for the sake of greed, However, all South Floridians, and people from afar will ALWAYS call it by the name of the man who worked so hard to have it freak-en built in the first place. That being Joe Robbie, It Will Always Be Joe Robbie Stadium. Not Land Fill, Or Land Shark, Joe Robbie Stadium, Get It, Got It, Good, Now go count your Jimmy Buffet Dollars. By the way, That beer really lacks in flavor and is overpriced for the gator piss that is in it.

FAIR WEATHER FAN STADIUM!!!!!! SO APPROPRIATE

Nice try, but it's still JRS.

Waste of money, Landshark; it was, still is, and will be, JRS.

CALL THE STADIUM "HALF EMPTY

its joe robbie stadium. you can name the field whatever you like , but if it were not for Joe Robbie who knows where this team would be playing! Keep it real Ross. Be a great owner not a greedy one!!!

Hi Friends,

I Find Absolutely FREE PlayBoy & Penthous

If I find something else I'll inform you.

Best Regards,

It's Joe Robbie Stadium.

If the current owner wants to pick up a few bucks take a lead from college stadiums - LandShark Field at Joe Robbie Stadium.

Lets call it..UMM SMELLS LIKE TUNA FIELD!

OR

FUCAJETFANAMEDED

OR
CALL IT VICE STADIUM,,get Don Johnson to promote the deal, we can have the spider version on the 50 yard line before each game. bring back the dolphin and the tank..i miss that. lets make it a show more than a game. why not thats what the nfl is all about anyways.

Eh bambino, how-abata di LoanSharka estadiom ora I willa breka yor nees.

How about The Jungle hell it is as humid as one

I don't care what you call it...it will always be Joe Robbie Stadium to me.

will always be Joe Robbie to me , but will call it Land shark if they sell that beer there for a better price they $7 a beer now.

It can't be called Joe Robbie Stadium because JR doesn't own it anymore. But, how about Joe Robbie Stadium II? Better yet, Joe Robbie Stadium Jr.

Joe Robbie is dead. LandShark has $$. The question is?????

I say we knock it down and bulid a replica of the OB in it's place

No big deal. The beer is very good !

Why not WAYNES PLACE

Both Landshark and Dolphin mentioned in final seconds. The prophecy is real...
http://www.spike.com/video/dan-akryoyd-snl/2802079

I don't care what you call it...it will always be Joe Robbie Stadiun to me.

Lets call it FinFan 1 stadium.....especially when it's half filled (kind of like Fin Fans brain)

I'm with the Chevy Chase/Candy Gram guys. At least they have a sense of humor about it.

Y'all just dumb. 1. Everyone knows Georgie ain't no gay, Anthony IS! and 2. the best name would be "Alve Loves John's Mama's old saggy ti ... Stadium!

That is a LOUSY idea!!!

Either keep it as Dolphin Stadium or change it back to JRS.

How bout' the "HOMODOME"?

I really hate the name but what if we change it to ... nevermind that, can I just blow every Dolphin player on the roster??

I really hate the name but what if we change it to ... nevermind that, can I just blow every Dolphin player on the roster??

Boy does that suck.

Naw, let's name it the George is the Champ and y'all be da chumps stadium

How 'bout we rename it, the George is gay stadium?

It was JRS when it opened, he did it the right way, never asked the city/county to fund him. So it will always be JOE ROBBIE stadium.

new name...
The Ted Ginn Family Stadium....

laughing my a$$ off!

don't care what it is called. Hell, it was pro-player and not a single person I knew had any idea what pro-player was and then pro-player went out of business and the name stayed due to the contract that was already paid for. People don't care what the stadiums are called. I'm not going to buy Landshark beer because the name is on the stadium. Now, if they do something about the $20 to park, I'll call it Landshark stadium all day long!!!

How about Loan Shark Stadium. You will need one to afford parking, tickets, food and souvenirs.

How about Loan Shark Stadium. You will ned one to afford parking, tickets, food and souvenirs.

i hope this doesnt last...
LandShark home of The Dolphins...
What is this, "Any given sunday?"
Its dumb -_-

Landshark Stadium Sucks BIG TIME. Why not call it what it should have been all along. "JOE ROBBIE STADIUM."

Landshark Stadium Sucks BIG TIME. Why not call it what it should have been all along. "JOE ROBBIE STADIUM."

It'll always be Joe Robbie Stadium in my eyes too! Joe built his wealth on his own volition, not on the greed of corporate sponsors.

Landshark is a great beer!!!!

Dumb jests fan (dicky) living in what he thought were the glory days.

Get over it you bunch of crybabies! Who cares what it's called!

LandShark tastes like crap. Jimmy doesnt play here because he charges a huge lump sum, plus 100% of ticket sales. The stadium only makes money off of parking and concession sales. He could care less about his fans.

How about "Cameron Wake is a beast Stadium"...

Why dont they just call it New York Jets Stadium - half the fans are from New York and the Jets have won 8 of the past 11 games played there anyways

I read this an hour ago...and yet, I'm STILL laughing on the inside...Come to Landshark Stadium, even though "They're only Dolphins, Ma'am."

Free candy grams to all on opening day.

Should be Orange Bowl!! Or just leave alone..

How about Scorpio Babers Stadium?

This better involve Chevy Chase in a shark suit.

How about "Fairweather" Stadium?

Joe Robbie Stadium sounds good to me. That's what it should always be.

Why???

Money!!!

I always will and will continue to call it Joe Robbie

FedEx orange bowl or
orange bowl II.

The next time you talk to Jimmy Buffet, ask him if he will play in the stadium, since he is conveniently forgetting about South Florida on his tour.

A stupid name.

Why rename it AGAIN???

It'll always be Joe Robbie Stadium in my eyes
