Heat Fan Express good deal for group outings

heat-express2.JPG

For anyone arranging a group outing to a Miami Heat game, getting the gang to the arena just became easier via a bus service operated by Fox Sports Florida.

The Heat Fan Express, which debuted earlier this month, carries groups of up to 55 to AmericanAirlines Arena in a luxury motorcoach decked out with Heat graphics and branding. When a group purchases a block of tickets from the Heat they get the ride on the bus at no additional charge.

“Who wouldn’t want to go to the game with group of people and pay the regular cost of tickets without parking,” said Jason Finder, Fan Express coordinator for FSF.

The maiden voyage carried 36 kids and adults from Holy Temple Christian Academy in Fort Lauderdale to the Heat-Bobcats game on Feb. 4.

“You made us feel like VIP,” Victor White, a deacon with the academy wrote of the experience in an email.

From the exposure of the initial group’s arrival during the FSF pregame show, the Fan Express has been booked for five upcoming games. To arrange a trip, call the Heat groups sales office at 786-777-3865.

Additional perks: All passengers receive a gift bag, and Fox Sports Florida Girls will ride along if requested at least 10 business days in advance.

“The Heat Fan Express is a great example of our commitment to the Heat organization and Heat fans everywhere,” said Catherine Jamison, director of marketing and creative services for Fox Sports Florida/Sun Sports. “For years we’ve been bringing Heat games on television to fans at home, and now, with the Heat Fan Express, we are excited to bring fans from all around South Florida to the AmericanAirlines Arena to experience world champion Miami Heat basketball in person.”

FSF is preparing a Fan Express to carry groups to Miami Marlins games this season. The home opener is already booked, Finder said. Trips can be booked at Saturday’s Winter Warm Up at Marlins Park, or request information at groups@marlins.com.

Alternate bus to Marlins games

Ballgame Express is another bus service that has been carrying fans to Marlins games since early last season from various pickup points in Broward and Palm Beach counties. It is available for individuals as well as groups. Cost to ride is $29.50 roundtrip to Marlins Park, and packages including tickets to the game are available.

Cast vote in (unofficial) Dolphins logo contest

An unofficial contest to design a new Miami Dolphins logo struck a creative vein with fans, eliciting 1,293 entries by 270 designers.

The contest has no association with the Dolphins, who have announced that they are redesigning the logo and will reveal the change before the NFL draft in April. However, it is another indication of the high interest in plans to alter the look of the team’s brand.

The contest is being conducted online by 99designs, which has narrowed the field to eight favorite designs. Cast your vote among the finalists at http://bit.ly/Vote4DolphinsLogo.

The winning design will be announced on Feb. 11. The winner will receive $499, and the logo will be sent to Dolphins owner Steve Ross, according to a spokesperson for San Francisco-based 99designs.

Dolphins CEO Mike Dee said recently that the team has received about 200 suggested logos. He also denied that a so-called leaked logo (below) that began circulating on the Internet in December is the choice.

Dee said the Dolphins solicited input from fans about the logo but that it was not feasible to put the selection up for popular vote.

Dolphins not raising season-ticket prices

With the Miami Dolphins say they will not be raising prices for season-tickets in 2013.

Season-tickets went on sale Monday as the home-and-away opponents for 2013 were finalized, including a visit by the newly crowned Super Bowl-champion Baltimore Ravens. Dates will be set in April.

The price in the general bowl remains the same, averaging $34 per ticket for the upper bowl and as low as $75 a game for the lower bowl. Purchasers have the option to pay over seven interest-free installments.

According to the Dolphins, buying season-tickets offer an average savings of 43 percent off the online ticket prices depending on the ticket package purchased. For more information, call 1-888-FINS-TIX (1-888-346-7849) or visit Dolphins.com.

Club level pricing also remains unchanged, starting at $160 per seat, per game with the opportunity to purchase the same seat for the Discover Orange Bowl and other stadium events. The Club Level offers weather-protected wider seats, access to air-conditioned lounges that have premium concessions, bars and restrooms as well as other amenities.

Limited annual seats are available in Dolphins Prime, Cefalo's Legends Suite, Castronovo's Vineyard Legends Suite, Garcia's Suite 343, Duffy's Hall of Champions and LIV Sun Life. For more information on the Club Level and the other specialty premium seating options, call 305-623-6200.
