Finally, the wait is over and it's playoff time. Who better to get you set for the Cubs-Dodgers matchup than Len and Bob? As always, our podarama can be downloaded to your iPod or mp3 player in the audio format, or you can watch our favorite pair via the video version. If you would like, you can watch the podcast on your computer right at your desk.
Thank for watching and listening - let us know what you think.
Just a note of thanks to some important people as we get set for our final broadcast of the season. To all of our posters throughout the season, thanks for chiming in and in many cases, keeping us honest. We're not perfect and whenever we slip up, you're the first to let us know. We keep the WGN Baseball Blog up and running 365 days a year, so please continue to stop by throughout the post-season and into the hot-stove league season as well.
This has been an incredible year of Cubs baseball on WGN Sports and we hope you've enjoyed our coverage. Special thanks to our entire production crew, led by our Executive Producer (and Podfather) Bob Vorwald, Producer Pete Toma, Director Skip Ellison and Associate Producer Marc Brady. It's a total team effort and Bob and I can't thank them all enough for their hard work and for making us look and sound good on a daily basis. Today is Pete's final broadcast with WGN after 11 great years with the station. He is going to tackle some new challenges and we wish him nothing but the best. He'll always be a part of the WGN and Cubs' families.
From everyone at WGN Sports, thanks for watching every day--you're the greatest fans in sports. Enjoy October. We'll be right there with you cheering on the Cubs!

Just because we're not broadcasting any more games doesn't mean Len Kasper won't be travelling with the Cubs and offering his insights throughout the playoffs on WGN-TV. Len will be featured on the WGN Midday News, as well as at 5:30 and 9p throughout the Cubs playoff run.
Don't forget to tune into WGN and WGN America on Tuesday at noon Chicago time for the Cubs playoff rally in downtown Chicago. Jim Belushi will host and we'll have all the festivitities on WGN.
The Cubs continue their final week of tuneup games for the playoffs
tonight with what I would consider the biggest game left on the
schedule for this reason--Carlos Zambrano makes his last regular
season start. Coming off his no-hitter, he had one of the worst
outings we've seen from him against St. Louis on Friday. We found out
later his grandmother had passed away, so there were extenuating
circumstances (he flew to Venezuela before that start to be with his
family), but when you think about how he has pitched overall the last
month or so, the no-hitter stands out almost as an exception to the
norm. I think we all thought that he had gotten past his slump, but
Friday's performance continued a trend of inconsistency. So, it's
important for him to re-establish himself as one of the aces (if not
THE ace) of this ballclub heading into October.
Beyond that, I think Lou is looking for some middle relievers to step
up and grab a spot or two on the Division Series roster. Chad Gaudin
struggled last night and Kevin Hart gave up the 3-run triple to Jose
Reyes (all the runs were charged to Gaudin). Sean Marshall is pretty
much a lock for the roster. He looked very strong as he went toe-to-
toe with Johan Santana for 5 innings. Angel Guzman had 2 scoreless
innings, but remember, he's still kind of working his way back from
Tommy John surgery.
There is also probably one extra spot to be won on the bench because
the Cubs probably will go with 11 pitchers. Micah Hoffpauir and Felix
Pie appear to be in a battle for that spot, although Casey McGehee has
looked impressive at the plate as he tries to open some eyes too.
