Our Man Ron
There's no better, no more inspirational, no more fun guy to be around than Ron Santo. He's a treat for all of us to be around on a daily basis and his passion for the Cubs is not only wonderful, but highly contagious. During Wednesday's rain delay, Ron joined Len & Bob as was as entertaining as always. (Due to MLB restriction, we can't show the Skip Parker piece on all the 3rd basemen who have tried to replace Ron).

In most cases, saying something like "a player like Ron only comes alone once in a generation" is just a cliche. But in this case, the only inaccuracy is that it's been 2 generations and counting (though ARam looks like a pretty good one). It's an abomination that Ron Santo is not in the Hall of Fame. It renders the entire selection process a fraud!

There needs to be an immediate senate hearing on why Ron Santo is not in the HOF. There is absolutely no legitimate reason why he is not there and there needs to be an investigation as to why this continues to occur year after year! This snub is more serious then any steroid, gambling or substance abuse investigation and I call on the commissioner of baseball and all voting members of the HOF to cease and desist this cruel and unusual punishment on one of the class acts of baseball and one of the greatest 3rd Basemen to ever put on a uniform.

At the close of today's game, Ron was asked who the Cubs player of the game was. He said "I'll give it to you if you want it", showing how he felt about the Cubs' performance.
That's why I like Ron. He keeps me sane, and I know I'm not alone. You guys are very professional, but there's only one Ron.

I know this has been asked, but if you would like to see Skip Parker's piece on the many Chicago Cubs players that have tried to fill Ron Santo's shoes, since December 11th, 1973, when the Chicago Cubs traded him to the Chicago White Sox, which turned out to be his only year that he wasn't with the Chicago Cubs. The video can be found at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_s00QIYWIg . And all I can say is, he left big shoes to fill.

1Ron: Today's 12 inning game,you
named koske "player of the game. What about Lieber who kept them in the ballgame long enough to win it. Think of this as changing an error into a hit. Get the call right.
