Knowin' Ryan

Ryan Theriot continues to be in the mix every day as the Cubs continue this hot streak. For me, Ryan is a guy who plays bigger than his numbers. He might only have 1-for-5 in the box score, but that "1" is going to usually be a big hit in the game. He might be 0-for-3 but he will have two walks and get himself on base in front of the big thumpers like D-Lee and Aramis.
Defensively, he plays on the verge of being out of control. Lou recognizes that and will get him a day off from time to time. If the Cubs are going to have success, Ryan Theriot is going to be a big part of it.
People ask me if he's like Craig Counsell and while Ryan won't have Little League coaches screaming in the night as kids copy his batting stance like they did with Craig, they are very much alike in their ability to play multiple positions, steal a base, and find a way to contribute every single day. They both have a real grasp of the game.

We need to start an Official LSU Duo Fan Club. Because between Theriot and Fontenot, I don't know who has more energy in sparking the team.

"Knowin' Ryan" -- HA! Good one Bob V.
I think TheRiot is a bigger piece to the puzzle than many think....his high intensity and level of play seem to affect everyone around him. Bottom line....when he starts, the whole team looks/plays better. Period.
Oooooh, baby, I'm getting my broom ready!!
WOO HOO!!!!

THE RIOT not only is one of my favorites, but it really does seem that he ALWAYS gets the key hits.

i agree if the cubs continue to win theriot will be in the mix,i love the way this team has come together, pitching, defense, baserunning well just everything has been great, except eyre, his funk has been all season long rothschild really needs to get him going as we have seen ohman cannot do it alone as the sole lefty and down the stretch we are gonna need eyre's arm in sept and hopefully d.lee will go on a run of hitting 8 hr's in a 13 or 14 game span to get his power up but if we continue to win without it im fine with that too,he is still putting up great hitting numbers,AND THE CREW LOST AGAIN TODAY!!!!so lets win tonight and get even closer.and BIG Z just might win that cy young after all, great run cubbies, keep it up!!!!

I call the Theriot/Fontenot combination "The French Connection". These guys light the fire under this team. Uncle Lou has to be very pleased with their performances, game after game. Both these guys have great baseball savy. Is a pleasure to watch them.

A bit off the subject...I just read an article in the Sun-Times about Bob's interest in the vacant Cincinnati position. Say it ain't so! Bob, you are insightful and often very funny. Joe Morgan figured it out a long time ago. Stay in the broadcast booth in spite of your managerial abilities. I implore you to do the same. I know you would once again make a great manager, and you prove it each time you do a Cub broadcast with your thoughts and insights. Stay there, BB. You and Len are now part of the Cubs, and have picked right up where Chip and Steve left. I cannot imagine a broadcast without the two of you.
