Pitching In

Two things stood out for me last night in watching the Cubs staff go after the Milwaukee hitters. The first was a determination to pitch inside all night. Yes, Weeks and Mench were hit by pitches, but pounding the ball in, even on a night when the wind was blowing out, really opens up that outside corner.
The second was a commitment to "climb the ladder" by throwing high and higher fastballs against the aggressive Brewer hitters. On a night when they needed to make things happen and were aware of how the ball was playing, the Brewers continually chased those pitches for strikeouts.
Let's hope tonight that Carlos Zambrano can do more of the same.

I think carlos zambrano should do good when he piches against these bewers beacuse the cubs need a win from zambrano so they should have their bats going early and so on!!
Go Go Cubs!!!

YEAH The pitching was great last night.Let's not forget Kendall. He's got a lot to do with the pitches and the pitchers attitudes when they are in there. What about those line drives by JJ.The ball looked like a bottle rocket coming off his bat.FABULOUS!
GO CUBS GO

Just wondering why more games aren't on WGN? I have nothing against MLB.com, but it's just better on TV. We can watch Funniest Home Videos all winter.

Bob, I have been listening and watching the Cubs games up here in Twins country. I was raised in Iowa but moved up here for the fishing. Up here Cub fans only see the games on WGN. I wanted more because I believe that without question you are the best announcer in the game. I always liked Steve Stone with his knowledge in pitching and how the batters would hit the pitches. You give us more than that, a managerial look, a catcher's look, the broadcast you provide is the best in the majors. That's why I pay extra for the baseball package my cable provider has. Keep up the good work and please come back next year.
p.s. Len you are great too. GO Cubs!

Getting something from the big three on the Cubs roster.
It sure seems like Carlos Z, Derrick L. and Armis R. have all dissappeared in the last month. None of them are stepping up and showing they they can lead this team.
Carlos has not pitched at all in the month of August.
Armis did not even run out plays to first twice in tonights game.
Derrick has been very quiet with the bat.
All three of these guys need to step up if the Cubs want to hold off St Louis.

well its offical,i need to stay outta wrigley, they are now 2-8 this year when i have attended ballgames.what can i say, zambrano looked good untill that one bad inning that seems to kill him everytime this month and sheets pitched well,i was sitting in section 26 and fielder and big z had somekind of words with one another at the time i had no idea what it was about,i was short but not sweet from the looks of it,now that i just got home i seen on comcast sportsnite that they were yelling at each other about zambrano striking him out in the first and then Z pumped his fist and yelled,i guess fielder thought he showed him up or somin, anyhow hopfully we can take the series with lilly tommorrow,go cubbies!

In my mind it is psychological. It is not every day you see this many hit batters in 2 days. I just think both teams are nervous. We all know that Zambrano is a great pitcher, but this series really counts and it is coming to the wire with chase to the finish line of the NLC. As long as the Cubs slow down take just 2 seconds for a moment & forget the last error made or the last walk off. They really need to focus on the game and not on the mistakes. It is to no wonder why teams have their good and bad months. I am just hopping Cubs realize this. I know Cubs are better than the Brewers. It is clear we have a great team, but the win will determine on who has their heads on straight. I can hope the Cubs do tomorrow. Forget last nights loss and focus on tonight. I can almost guarantee a turn around when the Cubs start getting their act together and making some great plays. GO CUBS GO!
Oh and sorry for the long post. I have lots to say :).

Len and Bob I'am a big fan of the Cubs. Also I am a big fan of the Chicago Cubs brodcasters past and present.
Dream job for me is to do what you guys do. I have a few homerun calls knowing I will never get the chance would you be able to use these call and make a fans day. My calls are based on brodcasters past with a new twist.1. Well hit back back open up the barn door and get some HEY HEY! 2. Well hit way back would you could you can you believe it it is a Homerun! For grat plays [well done put a fork in it][ Holy smoke cubs on fire]
Best of luck to the team.
