What's Left?

The Cubs face left-handed starters the next 2 games, and 2 pitchers
the Cubs aren't familiar with--Phil Dumatrait tonight and Bobby
Livingston tomorrow. The Cubs' struggles vs. LH starters have been
well-documented. They're 50-40 vs. RHS, yet just 10-18 vs. LHS. Lou
has tweaked the lineup tonight, with Jason Kendall batting 2nd (he's
made over 300 starts in the 2nd spot and has a .376 OBP doing it, so
he's had lots of success in that spot). Lou also is giving Jake Fox
his first major league start in RF. Fox recently had a 3-HR game
with Iowa, so hopefully that power game will carry over tonight. The
Brewers continue to struggle, leaving the door open for the Cubs.
Let's hope they can get it going again tonight at home.

Why not use a good hitting pitcher in another spot besides 9th. In the AL the DH is essentially hitting for the pitcher.

Hey Len and Bob... the weather report from Tom Skilling didn't appear just now. The tv just stayed on the center field camera and then Len said thanks for the report Tom.

It has occurred to me that Felix Pie plays better with his socks pulled up as opposed to wearing his pants at full length. Maybe he should experiment and pull his socks up for a few games and then leave them at regular length for a few games. He should then look back to see if he played better with his socks up or down.

more roster moves, more lineup changes, lou just loves too do this.im not saying i disagree but sometimes i think how can these guys get comfortable when they dont know when or where there playing or what spot they are hitting, for example soriano doesnt hit at all if he is not in the leadoff positon, kinda makes ya wonder if other players just aint hitting cause of all the changes, one thing i do know is kendall should not be hitting second in the lineup, and i just seen pinella saying "we need offense from our catching position"well if you wanted that lou the cubs woulda kept barett!

before wriggly feild Bo Rinn 92
After wriggly field Helen Vardalos 90

Len and Bob-
Hope all is well at Wrigley, besides all the Reds runs. I have been a Cubs all 25 years of my life and have tried many times to get my name said on TV. I would love it if you could mention my name tonight as I am sitting here yelling at my TV frustrated with the Cubs not performing well when the Brewers keep losing.

Speaking of the lefties, I have noticed Jauque Jones smiling slot. I wonder what he is thinking about. Plus, when are you guys going to shave yeour heads, for Big Z to get his long awaited no-hitter?

I can't believe all the homer remarks made on this site....90% of them with no value as in the topic of actual real baseball, as in intelligence and or revelence to winning the division. The Brewers have been trying to hand this division to the Cubs for the last 2 months, yet this no heart team doesn't want to take it. What a pathetic display of baseball by over paid hacks. Losing to the crappy Reds 2 straight games is a joke. Either find some &%**%%#$^&* or just find a real job.

Kendall in the 2 spot against lefties is o.k., but it's too bad that playing Kendall every day is such a bad idea. The Cubs are 16-8 with Koyie Hill behind the plate, and the only time the Cubs have done well this year was when he was our primary catcher.

All the hitting in the world won't matter if your pitching and defense don't come through. Hill is one of the best catchers I've ever seen at his position. Not only does he field extremely well, but he also calls a masterful game and is finely in tune with the psychological state of his pitchers - all of this improves the quality and confidence of our pitching staff.

We lost game one of this series against Cincinnati even though we scored like crazy. Our catcher hit very well and fielded like crap, which led to the opposing team scoring at least two extra runs. In the end, a catcher's play can cost or save his team many runs every game, and no one can make that up with his bat. We have enough hitting, it's pitching and defense that win championships.

Hill needs more starts! DUH!

Go Cubs

How about the big red hitting machine...Dunn is a beast...Cubs relief pitched the Cubs out of another win; way to go Michael Wertz...jeez. It is hard to ask players like Ramirez and Theriot to do much more than what they are doing...these two guys are doing a great job...it's awesome to see K.Wood back out on the mound pitching. His pitching form is beautiful to watch...let's go get the next 4 of 5 games are were good. go Cubs.

It's the pitching...can't win when our pitchers give away more runs to the other guys than our offense can score. Offensively, I think we need to be more patient at the plate. I also think we need to have somewhat of a "regular" lineup/roster, exceptions for injured players of course. We do have an awesome offense, but they'll lose motivation and confidence when all their efforts seem thwarted by our pitchers who give away too many runs, and hand over the games to the other guys.

Seems like we yank out too early those pitchers who've worked thru some rough spots...such as Lilly the other day. I love Lilly's ability to remain calm and work thru the tough innings, and he's 'ready' to field the ball as soon as he releases his pitch. I love Zam, but he needs to be less of a hambone and get control of his talent, be more of a professional; Marquis? Seems to be improving, but I still feel myself cringe everytime I see that he'll be starting. As far as the bullpen...sometimes it seems we leave them in too long when it's apparent that they don't have the stuff...we need to yank them BEFORE they let the game get away from us. Howry is solid, Kerry is hopefully back on track, amazing to watch, he's cool; and Marmol is amazing when he's got control of that velocity. But Eyre, Dempster, Weurtz...sorry guys, but yikes.

...just another one of the "Cubs Faithful" here, sharing her humble opinion lol. No matter how frustrated and aggravated I can get over losing streaks, the bottom line is "that's baseball", I suppose. I just love my Cubs.
Go Cubs Go!
