Home Sweet Home

It's our final home broadcast of 2007, but I don't think it will be
the Cubs' final Wrigley Field contest in '07. Milwaukee's loss in
Atlanta in the early evening hours Saturday was huge for the Cubs,
who will have at least a one-game lead going into Tuesday (that's the
worst-case scenario at this point). I want to thank all of you for
making this the most enjoyable year of my broadcasting career. I
can't tell you how kind people are when I meet them at the park, in
the Wrigleyville neighborhood and wherever I go in the Chicago area.
The power of the Chicago Cubs is unbelievable and it's been an
incredible honor to work with Bob and our great broadcast crews as we
have brought you a truly memorable campaign of Cubs baseball. Let's
hope for a big win today and then a clincher coming on the final
roadtrip.
Couple of quick notes on BB and me as we look ahead to what should be
an exciting post-season. We both will be around in October, assuming
the Cubs get there. Bob is calling a Division Series for TBS along
with Dick Stockton (series TBD) and then the NLCS as well with Chip
Caray and Tony Gwynn, so hopefully he'll be on the mic when the Cubs
clinch the NL pennant. I will be with the club for the duration and
will be filing reports for WGN Sports and blogging throughout as
well. I'm just thrilled to be a part of this amazing ride.
Let's enjoy this final week and then see what happens!
Len

Len, I just wanted to send out my sincere appreciation for the outstanding job that you and Bob do on every broadcast. The two of you have entertained and educated me during every game, win or lose, and I've found a renewed appreciation for the great American sport of baseball as a result. You both have a positive and professional take on Cubs baseball that makes us all proud to be fans. I hope that my wife and I will be able to hear you both in the post-season, but if not, I thank you for a great season and look forward to hearing you next season.

I am very proud of the Cubs season this year. However, I am worried about Lou's decision to put Steve Trachsel into the rotation.
I remember why we let him go the first time and the game he started a couple of weeks ago where he only lasted two innings, brought back horrid memeories.
What is you take on this?

I will NEVER regret getting my Cubs tattoo some years ago, and sport it proudly every single day. I regret leaving the best city in the world and not being able to go to Wrigley as much this year, but I look forward to bringing my son (due in February) during the season of '08! Thanks for all of your broadcasting on the best team in the league with the best fans in the world!

Dear Len and Bob,
My husband, Alex Dezen, is the biggest Cubs fan you could imagine--he watches every single game and is a total die-hard. He is also the singer of a band called The Damnwells--a band that gets regular air play on WXRT in Chicago.
It would be the most amazing thing ever for him to hear one of his own songs playing as you fade to commercial, as I know you always play great music during your broadcasts. Is there any way that might be possible someday? If not today, cause I realize (sadly) that this is your last official broadcast of the season--but if not today then maybe one day? My husband would be absolutely floored to hear one of his own songs during a Cubs game...
Thanks very much!
Love and Home Runs,
Angela Dezen

What a ride! Speaking about 'playoff atmosphere' at Wrigley, we were at the Cubs/Brewers last game at Wrigley in August. I've been going to Cubs games my entire life & have never felt an atmosphere like that! Everyone was high-5ing each other, there were plenty of Brewer's fans cheering on their team, but they were quickly silenced! We were at our Field of Dreams, & to quote the movie: "This is unbelievable"! "No, it's more than that, it's perfect!"...and it was..and it will continue to be!

Hey, it is strange to see the Cubs doing the 'chop' and cheering for the Braves, but thought you'd be interested in a little history on the chop. The Braves fans did not invent it, it started at Florida State in 1984 when members of the band were bored during a football game. It caught on immediately and 5 or 6 years later Deion Sanders brought it to Atlanta. Remember, he was playing for the Falcons and Braves, and when he was in outfield he would do it, at which time the Braves fans started to copy it. Of course, they butchered it and continue to butcher it. If you want to see the real 'chop' go to a FSU football game!

Hey Len, is it possible that you could talk with the producers with WGN Radio and Cory Provis(sp?) about maybe working with Pat and Ron during the postseason, so you can still call games for the Cubs? I mean its possible that Ron won't make some of the road trips with the fall being here now and some of the potential places we could play... Just a thought!! Keep up the good work.

Hey guys! Just wondering a music question in regards to the Cubs. What is the name of the song and what band is it that played the 2007 Video Tribute that played today? Also wondering, since I've never been there, what are other songs that they play at all Cubs home games? Jump by Van Halen is played when the Cubs take the field and I know I've heard Dreams by Van Halen in the past as well as The Blue Brothers' song, Turn Me Loose. Any help on this is greatly appreciated! Go Cubs Go All The Way!

Len and Bob, just want to thank you for the broadcasts--so far. I certainly will be watching you for the away games this week. You both do an outstanding job and have become a wonderful team. Hope you'll be back next year to broadcast the Championship Cubs! GO CUBS GO!

Hi Len!
I have a quick question regarding the t-shirt you showed during the Sunday, September 23rd broadcast from Kauai fan club. Is there a contact that you can provide, where I can buy one? My husband and I recently got married and honeymooned in Kauai. We are huge Cubs fans and I would love to get a couple of these for us. I appreciate any assistance you can provide. Go Cubbies!

Hi Len, I agree what Chad said. Maybe you could just be in the booth with Pat & Ron. Back in 2003, Steve Stone & Chip Caray were in the booth. I'm sure the powers that be will allow you to be in the booth!!
