Tonight, Tonight

I don't have to tell you how important this one is tonight. Ted
Lilly faces a 30-year-old rookie RH named Tom Shearn. After tonight,
the Cubs have one of their two remaining off-days (the other coming
Monday, which is a travel day). I've said one of the big keys is to
be ahead going into next week, because you don't want to have to make
up ground on a roadtrip. And while the Brewers end their season with
a 4-game series vs. San Diego, they do have the best home record in
the league. So, the Brewers have to be thinking if they can go home
Sunday ahead, they have a good advantage. My feeling is, this thing
is probably going to go right down to the final series of the season,
meaning anything can happen and all those little bounces become
HUGE. Let's hope they go the Cubs' way.
Len

Griffey showed some real style points while rolling his bat onto the dugout to that kid...I'm sure the kid will get more use out of this bat than Griffey did this series...
Cubs need the day off tomorrow...TBone (as we call #2) looks weary, as does Lee. signed, Amigoman

Could you explain why Soriano is batting 1st in the line up. He has a bad leg and way more power than Theriot. He is also a VERY free swinger. It just seems to make more sense to put him in the two hole.

HEY HEY HEY Len!
You were totally right about the importance of this game. Thank god the cubs pulled it off. Lilly was phenomenal and Lou keeping Howry in worked great too. Oh and how about Geovany coming up big?!! Hopefully we can keep rolling and win this division!

Hey guys you really made me chuckle Tuesday night and I wasn't alone. Your broadcasts have been great and when you were telling the story of Harry Carry and what you learned from him about not saying what you thought Cubs fans wanted to hear after Harry asked you if you really believed what you said made me laugh a few minutes later. I have to play Harry right now and ask you, did you really believe what you said after the the pitcher poll of who Cub fans thought they wanted in a must win game? Z is erratic, unreliable under pressure and the Jimmy Peirsal story in progress.Lily is reliable, stable, consistent and has better stats in many areas. Cub fans loved Harry because not only did he NOT say what he thought we wanted to hear, he did not say what he thought Cub players or the Cubs wanted to hear either. He said what Die hard Cubs fans who have been watching their entire lives were thinking. So when Lily got 70% of the vote and you guys defended Z, I thought to myself, they just said they got it when Harry taught Bob a lesson. Then my sister says the same thing to me, maybe Harry should give them another lesson. Then my mom calls and says the same thing. So I have to chuckle and ask, did you really believe what you were saying about using Z in the must win or were you protecting his fragile schizophrenic ego.

I have a theory. Griffey will probably retire after this season. Last night was his last game at Wrigley. He faked his injury so he could get all the attention in his last game at Wrigley. Either that, or he wants his season to be over already. Just a theory.

Last night was AWESOME!! Back in first by ourselves, sweet. Won't the Spew Crew just GO AWAY already??
The next 10 days are gonna be the death of me....but that could only be the beginning. WHAT IF THEY MAKE THE PLAYOFFS????

man where would this team be without lilly,he has became our stopper and our ace in my mind, now if we can just get big Z goign consistently we will have a great one,two punch.and i was so happy to see lou leave in howry to close out the game, sick or not sick i still dont like demp. closing.....wqell its in the cubs hands,we got the easier scedule then the crew, they start a 4 game series with the braves tonight, all though i dont care much for atlanta cuz of what happened earlier this year between the cubs and braves but im rooting for them now,go braves.....and go cubs go!

A good win for us last night but I am still worried about the low run production. Soto has my vote to to start his career behind the plate right now (Then I will forgive Hendry for trading Barret). If Z doesn't win his last two starts then Lilly will be our Ace(he already is in my opinion). D Lee just doesn't seem to be D Lee. I have more confidence in D Rosa with runners in scoring position than D Lee. I wish Murton played more, he has untapped power in the 25-30 home run range just begging for a chance. Note to Hendry: Maddux has 12 wins this year. Work hard Cubbies, it's far from over but Harry would be proud nontheless!!

Just finished the Brewer's/Braves game which the Braves won 3-1. Just a little more breathing room for our Cubs. What concerns me is the Pirate's plans on pitching three lefties this weekend. Lets hope the Cubs can shake that leftie jinx. A little more patience at the plate would help. Lee apppears tired but we can't spare him at this crucial point in the season. I'd like to see more consistancy from Zambrano. The Cubs can't afford any more bad games from him.
