WGN Playoff Coverage
*Watch the Cubs rally live from Daley Plaza on Monday at noon Central time on WGN-TV or on www.wgntv.com.
*WGN-TV does not have the right to broadcast any playoff games. All games in the first round will be on TBS, with no over the air television coverage. This is a decision of Major League Baseball, not WGN.
*Watch Len & Bob every day on the WGN News at 8am, noon, and 9p for their "Cubs Insider" segments, and we'll have lots of fresh stuff on wgntv.com.

Marquis and Dempster looked like train wrecks today but I still think the Cubs have a decent chance to make a run to the World Series.

I guess I'll have to start drinking again because I'll have to go to a bar to watch the Cubs in the playoffs. I've been watching games on WGN for over 50 years and now you tell me the games won't be on channel 9. That's just great! The White Sox were on in'05 but no Cubs in '07. That doesn't make any sense. Major League baseball has a real talent for alienating fans. Cable is out because the only thing worth watching are the sporting events and everything else is garbage.

How soon can we know what time our playoff games start Wed. and Thurs.?

Since I probably won't go out to a bar to watch the games, I guess I'm out of luck. It is ridiculous that MLB will only allow cable subscribers to watch the playoffs. There must be something channel 9 can do to broadcast the games. These are the playoffs, for crying out loud, and you're denying some of the most devoted Cubs fans from watching the games. And let me guess, radio broadcast will only be available on satellite radio.

Dan: In past years playoff games were on ESPN, and that contract with baseball allowed local OTA partners so Channel 9 re-broadcast ESPN Cubs and Sox playoff games in Chicago only because they were allowed to as a service to people without cable. Blame TBS, not Channel 9.

You've got to be kidding me!
I'm not a Cubs fan but a D'Backs fan and yet we can't watch the games on WGN because MLB and TBS say so? That's just wrong! Surely something can be arranged just for the Chicago audience to have the chance of seeing playoff baseball no matter which team you're cheering on. Last I checked, cable is not cheap and this would be the most ideal way of catching the games on their feed, but just a travesty for non-cable viewers. Oh, well. What can you do? Go D'Backs!

What a shame that it's become all about money.
GO CUBS GO!

Gee, are any of us surprised that Ted Turner has gotten his hands in on the playoffs??
I always thought that the playoffs were supposed to be on National! TV. Like ABC, CBS, NBC or FOX. I do get TBS, but I saw on the schedule that the Cubs game WON'T be live. That better darn well be a mistake! If anyone knows different, say so. Please!!!
Go Cubs Go!

Thanks Len & Bob, for a great season of broadcasting. I just with we could have you guys doing the playoffs, too, but that won't be the case. I'm wondering if Wed. & Thur's games are aft. or eve? I'm trying to plan my work hours around the games.

you gotta be kidding me. Ive watched teh cubs forever and now that TBS gets a hold of things i cant watch teh game just because i dont have cable. This is insanity. Nothing against Ronny and Pat, i love you guys, but when the cubs make it to the post season every man, woman, and child of every race, color, and size should have the right to sit their butt down in front of a tv and watch the cubs fight for a championship, cable or not!

"As American as baseball, hot dogs and apple pie?" I guess not. MLB seemingly doesn't care that hundreds of thousands of baseball fans will be shut out of the playoffs. I guess they've forgotten the strike, and what happens after people get used to not watching baseball. Instead of celebrating their sport as something that brings people together, MLB has decided to make baseball a rich man's game. Instead of thanking the fans that have set attendance records at the ball parks, they've decided to slam the door on their loyal fans. The Cubs are playing at 9pm on a school night, and kids without cable are supposed to leave home to watch the game? Where should they go, a bar? Len, Bob, can you give us an e-mail address for MLB execs so we can complain? Taking baseball off of free TV is not only mean, it's unAmerican! And all of us should try to do something about it.
