Sox-Rocks Jocks on Fox

Hey Everybody, just checking in after a couple weeks of
decompressing. With the World Series beginning Wednesday night, I'm
curious to get your predictions. It's funny how the Rockies have
become an afterthought, mainly because they haven't played in about a
month! They were the hottest team in the recorded history of Earth
before having to endure this looooooong layoff and it will be
fascinating to see if they can shake off the rust in Boston.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox have seemingly already been fitted for their
World Series rings after erasing a 3-1 deficit and beating the Indians.
All I want to know is, will Kevin Millar be on the Sox World Series
roster or will he just be in uniform in their dugout?

Red Sox will win in 4 games.
If Col. comes within 3 runs of the Sox in any game I will be shocked. The Mets in 1969 won 40 out of the last 50 games they played and they won the W.S. but I think the Rockies will be in AWE of the great team Boston has (both offence and defence)and lose 4 in a row.BY THE WAY....Micheal Barrett did a great job blocking the plate and the runner DID NOT touch the plate and was out!

Hey Len, it's good to hear from you!
It's true -- a week ago, I would have said the Series was the Rockies' for the taking. But after watching Boston these past 3 games, combined with the Rockies sitting around for so long, I gotta think Boston is gonna do it again. Which bums me out -- I'll be pulling for the Rockies hard. I'm a little tired of Manny being Manny.
So, Boston in 5 is my guess -- though I hope the Rockies can make it happen.

I hope the Rockies win it, but in a short series with Beckett to pitch 3 times, I think Sox in 6. How about this story? Last 4 teams left in the playoffs.....3 of them weren't in the top 20 in payroll! It shows what good talent scouts can do. Our Cubs seem to have pitching scouts that keep finding good arms.

i think this will be a very intriguing series b/c of all the factors len mentioned. no way will the rocks or sox be swept by the other. both teams r too good for that to happen to. weather could be a factor (like snow in COL), but i think bos is used to playing in cold weather too. i predict the rocks in 6 games and a great series all around. col is just too good to lay an egg. (Great so now the marlins and maybe the rockies will have won it all, and the cubs still havent!)

People will be down on the Rockies because they are a small market team playing the media hype machine that is Boston. That being said, I do think the Red Sox will win this series, but in 6 games. Colorado is probably the only NL team that won't be intimidated by going to Fenway, since they have already been there during the season (Oh, and they beat Beckett and Shilling while they were there). It will also be interesting to see what the Red Sox lineup will look like when they play @ Colorado. Big Papi or Youk may have to take a seat. I was disappointed in the ALCS because it kept giving me flashbacks of a certain 3-1 collapse that happened in 2003. I do think that the Rockies are the most balanced teams in the NL, and will give the Red Sox a run for their money.
P.S
That was really weird to see Millar throw out the first pitch in Game 7 of the ALCS. I understand that those guys who broke the Red Sox "curse" are like a frat, but Millar still plays! For a rival team in the division no less!

I hate the Red Sox.

It's all momentum. The tendency with big winning streaks is that when the end, the team falls hard. If the Rockies can keep their momentum after the layoff, they may carry through. If not, they'll probably get swept. I think either way, the series won't go past 5 games. 70-30 RedSox.

Ah, yes, the other Cinderella team in baseball! They've made it to the ball once--I hope they find the glass slipper. Go BoSox!

It is very good to hear from you Len. I wouldn't be suprised to see the Red Sox take it, however, I feel as though it isn't going to be that easy. Game 1 was no suprise. Beckett has been a wall of depression for everyone who has faced them. No suprise there. I still think the Rockies in 5. That's what I'm sticking with.

Does anyone at WGN have info about news being floated in some places that starting next year we'll get even fewer Cubs games on WGN? Don't know if there's any truth to this, but I read WGN will be rebranded as "The National Superstation" and will carry fewer Chicago-related programs. Please say it isn't so!!!
