We're proud to announce our two-hour special "Cubs Forever: Celebrating 60 Years of WGN-TV and the Cubs" will premiere on WGN on Sunday, April 20 from 6-8pm Central time. The show, which will air in high definition, feature interviews with over fifty players and fans including Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, Ron Santo, Ryne Sandberg, Fergie Jenkins, Greg Maddux, Kerry Wood, Sammy Sosa, Jimmy Buffett, Bonnie Hunt, and Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens.
Narrated by the men who made these unforgettable memories, the program will show some of the great games on WGN including the Cubs clincher in 1984, Kerry Wood's 20 strikeouts and four different no-hitters. In addition, the show will feature some of the greatest Cub moments on WGN-TV including Ernie Banks' 500th home run, Willie Smith's dramatic homer to win Opening Day 1969, Milt Pappas' near-perfect game, and Sammy Sosa's 62nd home run.
Triumph Books in Chicago has published a companion book to the TV special, also title "Cubs Forever: Celebrating 60 Years of WGN-TV and the Cubs" written by WGN Sports executive producer Bob Vorwald. WGN!!!!! The ONLY place Cub games should be televised. I was sick of Fox Sports Net and Comcast is no better. ALL 162 should be on GN, period!!! As for this year's team??? We're going to win the whole damn thing!! I can feel it.
