*Over the past 3 years, the Padres are 13-4 vs. the Cubs.
*Since the NL Central came into existence in 1994, only one starting pitcher has a lower career ERA against the division than Jake Peavy's 2.36 (Kevin Brown 2.33).
*Alfonso Soriano, who has hit home runs in back-to-back games for the first time this season, hit a leadoff home run for the 45th time in his career last night. He is 3rd on the career list behind Rickey Henderson (81) and Craig Biggio (53).
*From the 3rd inning on, the Cubs are a +51 in run differential, best in the majors.

On one hand I am excited about the Jim Edmonds signing that is expected to happen. It's a low risk flyer on a left handed power bat that could slide in the 5 or 6 hole and let Fukodome move up to the 2 spot. However, I am disappointed it means sendign Pie to the minors. I think he was given the shaft. When he plays, it's sporadic, and he bats 8th. Why would you put a rookie who is going to face nothing but junk with the pitcher behind him? No wonder he struggled. If Soriano is soooo insistant on the leadoff spot (which he doesnt belong in--anyone else tired of seeing SOLO homeruns??) maybe Lou should employ the NL Central idea of the pitcher 8th (we have decent hitting pitchers anyhow) and put Pie 9th so perhaps SOMEONE might be on base for Pie??? We have a great team...but some adjustments need to be made for sure!!

Great win against Peavy but disappointed that Cub fans outside Chicago were limited to only the SD TV broadcast on satellite. The SD announcers spent the whole game complaining about:
1. The Chicago media (Cubs propaganda machine)
2. Cubs players (specifically Johnson and Ramirez)
3. The pressbox announcer (Don't they know Ladezma's correct first name?)
4. The home plate umpire (cost SD the game, of course)
Funny thing - they forgot to complain about their last-place team!
Won't ever complain about Len and Bob after listening to these two last-place yahoos.
