Hot, Hot, Hot

You talk to players on both sides and nobody has seen a homestand like the one Alfonso Soriano is having.
He's cut way down on his strikeouts this homestand, taking the right pitches, and it's the same every time - hit the ball hard, drive the ball, and when there's a mistake anywhere near the strike zone, he is crushing it.
It's a good feeling to be that in control at the plate. (Well, at least that's what they tell me.) The biggest detriment to a streak like this is having to talk about it before and after every game. Most hitters don't want to think too much, but just want to keep it going without analyzing it.

Thanks for the note on Soriano. What a season he's having and what a year's in store for the Cubs. I look forward to watching every game I can. Go Cubs Go!

A-Sor, was just that at the beginning of the year, "A real Sore", now he is an unbelievable hitter. What happened in his rehab? I think we need to send some others on rehab to get whatever Soriano got. Go Cubs!!!!

April 26, 2005 - Len writes in the blog (in response to a comment): "LEN: Agreed on point #1. I probably did it the first time. Here's why--I'm not a good singer! It's a good way to lessen the impact of bad crooning. I'll promise I won't do it Wednesday. And on the "Let's get some runs" point, c'mon, you HAVE to say that, no?"
First of all you sang great, but I you didn't say "Let's get some runs". I've heard in general conversations in the past that you only say that when we are behind otherwise it's "bad luck" (not a luck-minded person myself at all). Just curious as to what your thoughts on that was. Did you purposefully not say it? Does it matter to you? Just curious.
Love listening to you guys during the games. You guys Rock!!! :)

Look at how he compares to Sammy Sosa's hottest streaks:

I think that the rest has helped Soriano. He said that he had been working with the hitting coach. At least now Soriano is laying off the pitches down and away; this has made all the of difference. By the way BB, you did a great job singing the stretch in the seventh...especially after Friday; oh man that was hysterical!

Bob,
Regarding your singing; I have never before, and certainly will never again hear the pure silk that was your voice during your rendition of "Take Me Out To the Ballgame". You have no rival, you have no equal.
The cameraman that reacted to your crooning was obviously so moved that he needed to stop the sound of your voice from piercing the very emotions of his soul.
I am sure you had the same effect across much of your viewing area.

All I have to say is thanks to Len for his in-depth interview with Fonzie. Len just had to mention the words "cool off" during this talk, and Fonzie promptly did just that.
Nice going Len.
