why would the cubs have Tony Romo-Simpson sing the stretch at the cubs game? He's one of the enemies quarterbacks... They must have wanted to bring in other under-achievers so they players wouldn't be alone. Good to see Gracey is coming back to wrigley, maybe some day when Ryno is managing the cubs he will bring on grace as the hitting coach.
Now on a side note, does anyone else notice that when Soriano wasn't in the lineup, the cubs players were working more counts and taking more walks and now that he's back, they seem to be more impatient and a lot more strikeouts all around.. just something I noticed over the past week... Here's to soon battling the pirates for the cellar position!!!

I know what you mean, I was noticing the same thing. I also noticed they weren't just taking deeper counts and walking more, they were winning. When Soriano came back, they were losing. I think Soriano was the biggest waste of money the cubs ever used. Jim Hendry is a joke. I mean, they had a chance at Carlos Lee, but you go after Soriano. I guess I could see his point, since he lost Juan Pierre as they're lead-off man, but seriosly, Soriano??? He better start earning his pay-check.

I DON'T CARE who's going to sing the stretch during this homestand. I DO CARE which starting pitcher is going to go SEVEN INNINGS or more, other than BIG Z or DEMP. I also CARE about this OFFENSE to get back to that PATIENT approach that worked in APRIL, along with some timely hitting. As for SORI, get off his back media types!! BOTH JOHNSON and THERIOT had LOW OBP's filling in for him. HITTERS HIT. This guy will hit. He hasn't been the one up with the bags juiced and none or one out and NOT COMING THROUGH. He's NOT the one who can't go more than 4 and 1/3 innings on the mound.

Although I am very weary of these 7th inning stretch singers, nothing bothers me more than the interview we are forced to endure in the bottom of the seventh. All these people are either pitching a movie, album, book, upcoming event, or something thats putting money in their pockets.

Half the time, these people dont even know the words to the song anyway. Let Ron Santo sing it whenever he wants, and play a recording of Harry on days when Ronny doesnt want to do it.

It gets real old listening to some actor or singer talk about their upcoming tour or book signing while the Cubs are trying to get a rally going.

*I agree Brad. I love the Stretch but I think two rules should be in order: 1) Cubs fans only. 2) Cubs talk only.

That being said, it was a real treat with Mark Grace today.

Thank you so much for bringing my two worlds together! Being at the Cubs game today and having Tony Romo throw out the first pitch and sing the stretch.....no one could ask for more! It's sad that he was boo'ed, but I cheered my 'boy! Great choice!!
