Well-Versed In Cubs Baseball

We received a great email from a huge Cubs fan in Fort Walton Beach, FL. Brian Sweeney, who grew up in Indiana, told us he had an English class assignment to write a poem. This, after 15 years in the Air Force...he's recently retired. Here's his poem. If I were his teacher, I'd give him an A+.

Back in the Game
It’s been fifteen years since I was a fan
So hard to keep up from far off lands
But now I am back, and I must say
I love to sit back and watch them play
They have been my team since I was a child
Catching up now seems quite wild
Nowadays, I have my own son
We cheer together that our game will be won
Watching him root so excited and loud
Makes me as his father oh so proud
I can’t forget the other two, they jumped aboard
My girls watch the games when not so bored
Last but not least I must mention my wife
Although, she thinks baseball is running my life
No matter what is said they all want more
Especially when we come out with a winning score
I truly enjoy watching my Chicago Cubs
My only wish is that I could do it from the pubs
Even though it has been quite awhile
Watching every game always brings a huge smile

you were wishing Johnny Anderson from Downers Grove to get well from his accident. Did you know that his name was part of baseball lingo? what is a Johnny Anderson (Sept. 24, 1903)??? Best wishes for quick recovery to Johnny!

Love the poem - definitely A+ material. Thanks for sharing!

Why aren't more Cub players leading or near the top for their position in the All-Star Balloting? Do they not hand out ballots at the ballpark anymore?

Did you just accuse B.Backe after a bad 3rd strikes call drinking MOONSHINE in the dugout!?! Poor attempt at humor fellas. He's in the game, givng his all, and showing emotion in a game he's (and the team) are still in. Poor Sportscasters judgement.
