The Blue Jays placed centerfielder Vernon Wells on the 15-day DL with a broken bone in his left wrist after hurting himself trying to make a catch in the sixth inning last night. He is expected to miss as much as two months. Wells was hitting .281 with five home runs and 25 RBIs. Reliever Jeremy Accardo has also been placed on the 15-day DL with a right forearm strain. Armando Benitez and infielder Joe Inglett have been recalled from Triple-A. Brad Wilkerson and Kevin Mench should platoon in rightfield and Alex Rios will move to center.

Adam, do you think Ervin Santana and Cliff Lee will combine for 30 wins this season? Also, for anyone who cares to comment, in the league I'm in if a player gets dropped from a team he is does not clear waivers for three days. Mark Buehrle was just dropped - given his record I do not think I will have to use my claim - and I was thinking of using my waiver claim on him and started to really think about exactly when a player is worthy of a using a waiver claim on.
In this case, I guess I'm rationing that he is a top 50 (barely) pitcher and that seems worthy considering I'm in a deep league of 12 players 22 person rosters.
In the same respect, Mike Jacobs was just dropped and I was thinking of putting in the claim for him but he is what, a top 20 first basemen? He is having a good year so far though. Anyway, I wouldnt mind hearing your thoughts on this.
That's an interesting question regarding Lee and Santana. I'd say yes. They won't keep up this pace, but I don;t see them collapsing. They also play on good teams and each has a history of success in the majors prior to this season.
It all depends on team needs and if that player is useful to you when it comes to adding players from waivers. If Buehrle is better than who you will drop, then it's worth it. I'm not a big fan of his, but he should be owned in a league that deep. I own Jacobs in one league and would think about adding him. He has power and can be a useful CI. I don't go by top 20 or top 50. It depends on whether I believe that player can help me.
