The secret to picking NFL games ...
We've acquired inside information on the complicated system used by our own NKR, who employs this method to continually kick our behind in the 
Beat Bob Glauber competition every week.
Unfortunately, I cannot divulge its contents, for fear that there might be some future trademark violations in case she goes national with this thing. I will tell you that the system lies somewhere between using complicated algebraic equations and playing pin the tail on the donkey. There is a significant emphasis on the "12th man," so the home team factors into this thing pretty heavily.

Is NKR's identity some kind of secret, or am I allowed to reveal she has been a friend of mine for 28 years?
You'll have to let NKR make the call on that one. After all, she somehow became aware of this blog because of your mention of it several weeks back. It must have been in connection with me predicting you'd crack or something.
You should have an answer shortly, since NKR is a regular reader. I kind of like the fact that there's a little mystery about her identity, but we'll let her make the final call.

The Big Board today said it suspended broker Stephen Mara for two weeks. If that last name seems familiar, it’s because Mr. Mara is a member of the family that has a partial ownership in the New York Football Giants (to use the old-fashioned moniker for the gridiron squad). And last December, he became incensed at another floor broker who mocked the recent performance of the Giants after they’d honked one against the Eagles, 36-22, and angrily pinned the broker against a post for several seconds. The Giants, who are 3-2 so far this year, better keep winning.
Well Neil, I don't know which of us knows more dirt about the other, so tread lightly buddy! I'm not the famous one. Mwahahaha. Feel free to reveal (ahem) whatever you think won't get you into too much trouble.

Charlie Chilkoot is a friend of mine from my days in Alaska who now lives in San Diego. He named himself after a bar in Anchorage that features live monkeys. Seriously. I should move back there to get away from $34 salads and wackos on both sides of the Suzyn Waldman debates. Sigh.
