Quote of the week
Neil Best made a rare appearance at Giants Stadium yesterday, and while he was here, Katie Strang snagged him for some Newsday.com video. Best put the video up on his blog, with a still shot of him talking to Giants' beat writer Arthur Staple.
Upon seeing himself in the still shot posted below, Best quipped: "If I’d been given fair notice, I would have made sure to lose 20 pounds and experiment with hair plugs.”
(This is why Best and I are such good friends. He is as self-deprecating as a human can possibly be, and he consistently indulges my juvenile behavior. As Best has said several times when I fear I might have said or done something to hurt his feelings, "I'm not easily offended." In fact, when I told Best that I awarded him "quote of the week," he replied in an e-mail, "Thanks.")

This is tradionally the best weekend of the NFL year. Why are we, your loyal readers, getting such powderpuff and infrequent blog entries?? Neil Best? Pat Kirwan? Pete Carroll? Where are all the interesting analyses? Predictions? We need you to come through for us BG!

I was going to post an entry earlier in the week to say that there might be more infrequent posting this week because the Giants are in the playoffs and this will require more time for newspaper-only responsibilities. Which is the case.
I figured if I threw a few things out there on the blog that it would satisfy the insatiable demand now in evidence for this blog. However, you being the loyal reader you are, I realize that is not enough.
I agree on this weekend in the playoffs. It is one of the best weekends in sports, period. I enjoy it more than the Championship Week next week.
