It sure seems that the Bucs are the logical landing spot for Favre, who still wants to play, but might decide not to play, but might change his mind and play after all.
Depends on what day it is, I guess.
Anyway, the Bucs do seem like a good fit for Favre. After all, the Packers have no interest in dealing Favre to division rival Minnesota. And with little interest around the league for the services of a soon-to-be 39-year-old quarterback who can't seem to decide whether he'll play or not, Tampa has plenty to offer Favre.
There is head coach Jon Gruden, a former Packers assistant (receivers coach) whom Favre knew early in his career in Green Bay. Gruden loves veteran quarterbacks, and with Jeff Garcia making noises about a contract extension, Favre could be an instant fix at the position.
The Bucs are coming off a playoff berth and have a defense that is nearly back to the level of a few years ago.
It's anyone's guess when Favre will make the next move, but the next move is his.
With NFL commissioner Roger Goodell pressing both Favre and the Packers to resolve his situation, and with the Packers reporting to training camp on Sunday, things need to be resolved in short order.

Over there in Tampa they are all charged up about getting Favre. They think Garcia played way over his head last season, probably won't be around next season and believe Favre can take them to the Super Bowl which is in Tampa this year. Myself, I can't see Tampa finishing better than 2nd no matter who the QB is and if they don't win the division they probably don't even make the playoffs. I'm kinda curious about their salary cap situation, they have plenty of QB's on the roster and about 4 rb's, so how much room do they have to fit in a Favre?
Sandy:
Their cap situation is not an issue. They've spent the past 3 years whittling off the bloated salaries of the Super Bowl team (Sapp, Rice, Keyshawn, etc.) They would have no problem fitting Favre under the cap. Clearly, one or more of the qbs would have to go. I think Garcia had better be careful not to overplay his hand. Favre's availability has killed his leverage.
It would be fun to see Farve in Tampa. In two season he can pass the team to C Simms. Send Gracia to the UFC, maybe the mirror image will scare GSP into submission.
Craig: Chris Simms won't be in Tampa this season, much less in 2 seasons. He and Chucky don't speak and he has asked to be traded or released. They have this other young rookie I think his name is Johnson who will be groomed to replace Garcia or Favre. They also still have Brian Griese and Cade McNown.
Funny where I live there are a lot of Minnesotans ( I have no idea why), and they hate Favre so much, they don't want him on the Vikings. Just as last season when our Wisconsin people (ditto)didn't want Randy Moss on the Packers.
Re Simms, I agree, his comment to the press was indicative of a player headed elsewhere. Few fans want rivals' castoffs, it took Yankee fans quite a while to warn to Clemens, Met fans were not pleased with Omar's pursuit of Posada.
