LT has a different take on Michael Strahan
That's LT as in LTmeansLawrenceTaylor, our very own commenter whose opinion we value greatly. LTMLT thinks we haven't seen the last of Michael Strahan, even though MS said from his villa by the Aegean Sea that he's done with football.
Here's LTMLT's take:
His old team didn't NEED his help yet. They WANTED their security blanket. First they have to prove they can play without him. Then later in the season, if they're making a playoff run (as they should), then it may be that they "need" him to help push them over the top.
You don't call in the calvary before the battle has even started.
I hope he works out with a mind of maybe coming back Novemberish. Interesting to see if he works his way back into football shape just in case.
What do you think?
And please check up on him to see about his work outs.
Here's what I think, LTMLT:
There is merit to what you are saying, but in this case, I believe Strahan is done. I'm not saying 100 percent done, but I don't see it happening. Even if he does work out regularly (as he did last year before finally reporting a few days before the opener), he will not be in football shape. So if the Giants are making a playoff run in November, and they can use his help then, they'd still have to factor a month into getting him into football shape.
Again, not an impossible scenario, but I think you will be seeing MS on Fox for the entire season.

Wow, meritted a reposting on the main page. You honor me, Mr. Glauber.
Simply put, I think there may be a senario, particularly a playoff push, that could make it motivating enough for Strahan to comeback late in the season. Just a few plays a game to start in November, then into the rotation for the season end and playoffs.
If the situation and mood strike him right, he's mentally there. Wants to help his teammates. Another Superbowl possibly on the line. And he won't forget technique or plays in his absence.
Sure, he's in shape and exercises regularly now, but if he maybe bulks back up a bit, hits the heavier weights, and maybe some endurnace training, he may be doing that with an eye on a potential return senario. So how he works out over the next couple of months would indicate if his return late this season is a realistic possibility.
We don't need the old sheriff back yet, but just in case, I hope he's still keeping his six shooters clean and shooting some cans off the fence.
When he was considering retirement, I posted here that he took off the preseason last year, maybe this year we let him take the first half of the season off. Guess I hope it still happens.
Never say never
BG,
I'm surprised I haven't seen more links to Strahan's decision and his recent divorce settlement. Since he is retired, the judge decided he didn't need a $7MM insurance policy on himself for his ex and the kids. I'm betting there are other financial benefits to him staying retired or at the very least it may mean less $ for his ex-wife. All this "in shape" "out of shape" commentary is masking the real reasons he is staying retired as it is always all about the money.
BBiB!

Is Jesus part of this deal too? I know LT thinks Strahan is a 'savior', but maybe this is getting out of hand. :-) How bout Haven Moses coming out of retirement, or making a deal for Muhsin Muhhammad.
Just globbin'...
Calvary isn't a savior, its a specialized unit typically used mid-late battle to close the win.
And Jesus was a pacifist, so I'm not sure he could help much on the field, but with his healing powers, he could be in the training room (heck, Osi'd be back already).
Moses would be more offense, what with his ability to part the Red Sea, I don't think parting an NFC East defense would be beyond his skills...
LT, The word you're thinking of is cavalry. Calvary aka Golgotha is the place where Jesus was supposedly crucified, hence my post.
I thought maybe it was a typo, but now I see that it wasn't. All right, enough about that... How bout them Dawgs!
What are we talkin about here?
A Sermon on the Mount or John Wayne saving Ben Johnson's scalp again?
Or....hmmm....is Usain Bolt the next Ben Johnson?
Where are my drugs?
It was a typo. I meant army men on horses.
