If you cheered when Tom Brady got hurt ...
... evidently, plenty of people cheered in sports bars when word spread about Brady's injury. It's a terrible commentary about the world of sports - about the world, period - but that's the way it is.
The Patriots accept it. They don't like it, but they accept it.
"That reaction is normal," Patriots safety Rodney Harrison said. "Anything that happens to us people, they get excited about. Obviously, they don't care for us much around the league. But I understand it's a competitive league. Teams, as well as fans, are looking for any edge they can possibly get and if that means us losing our star quarterback, guess what, they feel like that gives them an edge. At the same time, you still gotta get it done on the field."
What Harrison said next really should hit home, especially for those fans who are stupid enough to cheer when someone gets hurt. "People sometimes lose sight that we're brothers, we're fathers, sons. They look at us like machines. A lot of times, people really don't consider that we're human-beings, we have feelings, it hurts. We go through a bunch of different things, but they get so wrapped up in the game, that it's not real life... We're sacrificing, away from our families... as a football player, you understand it's a part of the deal. You're going to get hurt playing football. It's just how you respond."

I wonder if Rodney Harrison thinks about his fellow "brothers and fathers" when he piles on after every play and hunts for heads as he tackles.
There are probably very, very few people who are actually glad Tom Brady the person got hurt. But the fact that something really, really bad just happened to Bill Belicheck? That is something to cheer.
"People sometimes lose sight that we're brothers, we're fathers, sons."
Yeah, sure Rodney....that's right, I get it. You've convinced me.
You football players are all one big happy family. You all love each other so much.
Cuz I often stand over my brother, father or son lying prostate on the ground after he's fallen off of a ladder, dancing and carrying on, wagging a finger at him and telling the whole world that I'm number one, and screaming at the high heavens beating my chest like King Kong, just like you and your "brothers" do to a QB after a successful safety blitz.
What a self indulgent bucket of crap Rodney.
Just my opinion.
I don't think people were cheering for the injury like Romans at the Coliseum, but because they are sick of the Patriots being so good and without Brady the Patriots are mortal again.
The Pats are a great team, but turned themselves into villains last year, amazing as it is how an undefeated team can become villains. I like Tom Brady, he's a HOF player, he bagged Bridgette and Gisele, plus he's a Bay Area boy, in fact I wish the Niners would have drafted him instead of Tim Rattay... hindsight...
But, people(non-Pats fans) are sick of the Patriots winning and they are sick of Patriot/Boston fans in general. Who didn't hate the Niners(fans) in the 80's? Cowboys(fans) in the 90's?
Besides, Celtics/Red Sox/Patriots? Enough already, stop hogging the titles!
505 -- awesome response!! I wish someone in the media had the guts to ask a question like that. Who do we know with access to the players who maybe in New England right now? Who do we know? Hmmmm....
Harrison gets away with a lot of things. He also took HGH and cheated the sport also.
Yeah Tom is a class act, he dumped Bridgette for Giselle as soon as she told him she was pregnant. I don't think she lets him near the kid. Real class just like the rest of New England sports fans.
Tom Brady didn't lose his life. He didn't get paralyzed. He's a millionaire with a pension to boot. He's paid quite well to risk himself, and choses to go out and play.
So he hurt his leg. He can't play for a season.
Why should I sympathize?
So as a fan, I could care less either way since I like the Giants and they don't play this season.
And as a person concerned about another person, there are literally billions of people I sympathize for, and Tom Brady isn't one of them. I feel for the people of Darfur. I feel for the people of Myanmar. I feel for people like that. Tom Brady doesn't even register.
BG,
Get in touch with us -- your fans -- and call out Harrison for these ridiculous comments instead of telling us we should listen to them before we decide to "cheer" or "boo".
Glauber Nation has spoken and is counting on you to carry out our wishes.
He's still rich, still has 3 rings and is still banging Gisle... not exactly crying him a river.
Is it also inappropriate to cheer a knockout in a boxing match?
Or any type of ending in MMA?
BBiB!
I don't have a problem with Harrison saying it. I think, because of his past, he may have some credibility issues in people buying what he's saying. However, I do believe that fans are woefully uninformed when they react to an injury like that.
Same with Chad Pennington last year. A very large contingent of Jets' fans cheered when Pennington was injured in the opener against the Patriots. I'm like: Are you kidding?!?!?!?!
I don't think Harrison was lecturing anyone on this. I think he was just stating his opinion.
"I think he was just stating his opinion."
Until the "Brotherhood of NFL Players" demonstrate a little more class on the field, and a little less trash talking, dancing over downed opponents, finger wagging, and other self absorbed grandstanding behavior, I will have a hard time giving any credence to these kind of "opinions".
Is it correct for fans to cheer and applaud injuries?
NO......I SAY THAT ADAMANTLY.
But let's face it Rodney and all you other NFL Player Apologists.
As ye sow, so shall ye reap.
It is YOUR behavior on the field that provides the inspiration and in fact spawns this aberrant behavior by fans.
Start policing your own yard before preaching to society.
And that's just my opinion.
505 needs to have this entry posted in the Pats locker room!
505: Great entry! The behavior in the stands simply mimics what's going on out on the field. It's no wonder a lot of people aren't taking their kids to NFL games as much as in the past.
How are you. The excellence of a gift lies in its appropriateness rather than in its value. Help me! I can not find sites on the: Dish free network satellite tv. I found only this - dish Network satellite internet service. Dish network satellite tv dealers which one has the best deal? Satellite tv guide is dish network better than directv? With respect ;-), Axel from Central.
