Brandon Jacobs has a few strong opinions

About his injured left knee: It's fine now, and won't require surgery.
About his contract: He is convinced he'll be a Giant for several more years.
... oh, yeah, about Plaxico Burress: He believes the Giants would have won the Super Bowl with Burress in the lineup, and that the troubled wide receiver deserves a second chance.
It's Super Bowl week. So, naturally, it's today's back page. Here's my story on BJac.
It comes a day after Amani Toomer popped off about his frustrations late in the season, and about how he doesn't expect to be with the team next season.

Bob,
This just shows how hypocritical and dumb these guys are. Plax had a million chances. He can't follow team rules or the law. But because he's talented, his teammates say look the other way.
And also they forget... he is going to JAIL!!!!!!
Plaxico let the rest of the team down by choosing to violate the law. as far as I am concerned his career should be over.
I'm with Crazy Eddie and Tom. Brandon Jacobs, being a leader of this football team, should be condemning Burress' attitude and behavior, rather than explaining how meaningful he is to the team. I want someone to pry some candid comments out of Shaun O'hara, a true leader, to find out what some in that locker room are really thinking about Plaxico Burress. Or how about Steve Smith; a guy that has openly criticized Burress in the past. It pains me to say this, but if Jacobs is that concerned with Burress and big money, let the big guy go (tears). As much as I don't want to see my favorite player playing for another team, I want to see Burress back in blue even less.
Crazy Eddie, Tom, Randy H.
I'm with all of you. I don't think Burress belongs on the team any more. While I respect Jacobs' loyalty, the fact that the coach is openly questioning whether PB should be back is an indication of potential trouble that lies ahead if he were to be given another chance.
He's had plenty of chances.
He's 31 years old.
He might be going to jail.
What else does anyone need to know?
Randy Hagerman....all due respect...but....I can't respect your thoughts on this....
"I want someone to pry some candid comments out of Shaun O'hara, a true leader, "
O'Hara? a true leader?
Why? because he married the coach's daughter?
O'Hara should keep his mouth shut.
THAT would be "leadership".
"..to find out what some in that locker room are really thinking about Plaxico Burress......"
Who cares? Are you suggesting that we should send Joe Torre in there to find out?
"Or how about Steve Smith; a guy that has openly criticized Burress in the past."
Let's call Tom Verducci....That way Steve Smith can get the hardcover edition out in time for summer camp.
Good for Jacobs for sticking up for a friend and (former) teammate.
LEAVE IT AT THAT BRANDON!!
The only opinions that matter with regard to Plaxico are the owner, the GM and the coach.
It's not Jacobs' team, it's not O'Hara's team, it's not Smith's team.
Do you want a Football Team Randy Hagerman, or do you want a continuing soap opera?
Just my opinion....from two time zones away.
I understand where Jacobs is coming from, lets face it Plaxico was a big part of the offense. And at many times during the regualar season, I couldnt see a weakness on this team. We had the big play threat, a QB that wasnt making mistakes, a great thrid down reciever, a great running game, and a top 5 defense. And we also had the emergence of Hixon.
So when Plaxico had the unfortunate event, we all (and i mean all) thought that Hixon would be the next guy to step up, and we wouldnt miss a beat. But that didnt happen.
So we relied on the running game more, but the defenses were adjusting to that putting eight-nine guys in the box. So when we tried to go back to the pasing game, everyone seemed to be out of sync.
The Giants strenght this season was the run. we can pass if we wanted too, but for the majority of the season it was run first, pass second. When we couldnt run anymore. Giants expected the passing game to win for us. And thats not Giant Football. We were actually one of the worse teams in passing over 20, and 40 yards (28th ranked). You just cant expect to turn on a switch, and expect it will work.
The fact of the matter is, if Hixon (or another reciever) stepped up, there wouldnt be a question about bringing Plax back.
And it seemed the Giants play-calling didnt adjust to plax not being there. Every WR is different, and you have to work towards their strenghts, not just assume if one guy goes down, he can be easily replaced, its doesnt work that way.
The Giants offense went from having a deep-threat option, to becoming this short passing-boring team, which was very pretictiable.
There was no imagination, no trick plays. Even if it doesnt work, you keep the defense on its heels. The different defenses knew exacly what was coming, and knew how to stop it. (not to mention Bradshaw wasnt used right, if anyone has a right to complain it's Bradshaw, and where was Manningham?)
What im trying to say is Plax's absence did hurt us, but there are a lot of reasons the Giants didnt have success in the late season.
So where do we go from here, Thats what Jerry Reese has to decide, and I am pretty confident he will make the best decision for the team.
Hey 505,
O'Hara isnt married to Coughlin's daughter, Chris Snee is.
Whoops.....my bad...
