Eric Mangini didn't think much of Jets' history either

New Browns coach Eric Mangini created a stir among some fans for ordering the removal of a large mural of the team's Hall of Fame players and coach Paul Brown near the players' entrance.

Evidently, Mangini didn't have a fondness for Jets' memorabilia either.

According to a source familiar with the situation, Mangini ordered the removal of several photographs of past Jets' teams - including the Super Bowl III team - shortly after he took the head coaching job in 2006.

Hmmm. Wonder if there was a picture of 6-year-old Rex Ryan standing on the sidelines watching Joe Willie at the Orange Bowl 40 years ago.

I'm also told many former Jets' players - especially those from that championship team - weren't thrilled by Mangini's unwillingness to embrace the past.

Hey, I'm all for a new coach trying to change the culture of a franchise. But I will never support doing it by trampling on the memories of the players and coaches who gave that franchise their greatest memories.
