Could Bart Scott be off the market soon?
The Ravens are making a concerted effort to re-sign linebacker Bart Scott before the start of free agency. We're told there has been steady progress toward a new contract, although negotiations could come down to the wire. The signing period begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday.
The Jets remain interested in Scott, who played under Jets head coach Rex Ryan when Ryan was the Ravens' defensive coordinator.
Like any negotiations, there's a chance talks could break down, so it's no guarantee that Scott won't make it to free agency. But the Ravens consider re-signing him a priority, perhaps even more important than signing Ray Lewis before the start of free agency.
As for Lewis, we're told he'll be looking for a deal in the 2-3 year range. His likely salary will be at least $10 million per season, with bonus money on top of that.

I heard this too and the Jets would have to be crazy to give lewis money like that at his age. If they lose out on Scott and its starting to looklike that then give Moore his money,resign barton and draft an ILB.
None of the Jets fans want Lewis. They will consider it a let down by Ryan to bring him in for two main reasons. The Jets fans have had their fill of aging players with one year of Favre, and Lewis is getting old. And during the Mangini years, the Jets have adopted the character trait of wanting a player with the a good off the field record. In the past 5 years the Jets have been in the top 5 teams for least off the field incidents. For what ever reason, even though Lewis was found innocent, he's not liked because of his involvement with a double homicide case. I'm an active member of the Jets forum (2nd most posts) so I see it first hand.
